We proudly provide professional eyecare with a personal touch at all of our locations, and offer quality family eyewear at excellant values. With our own lab you can receive comprehensive eye exams and have your prescriptions filled for eyewear or contact lenses, all in one location. Safety and sports lens prescriptions can be filled as well. We look after children’s vision needs and accept most insurance and union plans, as well as Medi-​Cal and Medicare. We also offer emergency eyecare services. Our Doctors are pharmaceutical-​TPA certified to diagnose, treat and prescribe for ocular disease, and provide consultations regarding laser vision correction.

History

Established in 1987.

Dr. Ed Hernandez grew up in La Puente, attended local schools and graduated from Bassett High School. He worked his way through school, attending both Rio Hondo and Mt. San Antonio Community Colleges before going on to get his B.S. degree in Biology from Cal State Fullerton. He received a scholarship to study Optometry at Indiana University, which is also where he met his wife Diane. After returning home, Dr. Ed and his wife setup their first practice in his hometown of La Puente.

Dr. Ed Hernandez is currently serving in the California State Senate. Senator Hernandez serves as Chair for the Senate Committee on Health where he is playing a key role in setting health policy for the state.

He has received the Optometrist of the Year honor from the Rio Hondo Optometric Society, the Young Optometrist of the Year award from the California Optometric Association, and was named Key Person of the Year by CAL-​OPAC. He is the Past President of the California Optometric Association and the Past President of the State Board of Optometry.

Dr. Hernandez is pharmaceutical-​TPA certified to diagnose, treat and prescribe for ocular disease, and provides consultations regarding laser vision correction.

Dr. Alma Fragoso-​Coronais by far is one of the most caring doctors I have come across. She is very knowledgeable and explains everything in detail, she allows you to ask questions and does not rush you. I was driving home from work, and one of the screws fell out of my glass frame. This is not where I purchase my glasses. I went in, and a woman waited in me very quickly. She replaced the screw at no charge. This stellar customer service makes me want to change my eye dr. Definitely am excellent place.

I ordered my lenses took them 4 months to get them made waited way to long for them no reason for that I ask wat happened to my lenses all they said was they were sent back and they didn’t know why

I have been a patient of Dr. Hernandez office since 1992. My kids have been patients since 2000. I have tried other optometrists offices a couple of times but this optometrist has been the best place for me. I will never try going anywhere else. Dr. Hernandez was my optometrist for years and the last few years its been Dr. Alma Fragoso-​Corona. I can say both are excellent. They are very patient and answer all the questions I’ve ever had. They treat people with respect and don’t try to take advantage of anyone. They are very honest. The staff is very helpful as well. It’s just a pleasure to go to see the optometrist yearly.

Dr. Alma Fragoso-​Corona is the best! She is so friendly and welcoming and great with kids. She always makes my son feel at ease and keeps him smiling/​laughing he looks forward to seeing her! She is very clear and concise when giving me information about my vision and my sons.
The girls in the front are all very helpful with submitting my insurance claim for my glasses as well as setting our appointments. I like that after my visits I have the option of submitting feedback to them (although it’s always a positive experience) it’s nice to know they care what you think.
I would definitely recommend this optometry office to anyone looking for a great all around experience.

Dr. Alma Fragosa is AMAZING! She is always on target about her observations, but she’s also friendly and very sweet. The staff is bilingual and friendly. They are always punctual. You won’t regret coming here!

I decided to check this place out, its local and my little brother, mom and aunt have been here to get check ups and new contacts/​lenses. Called early on a monday hoping they could take me same day, the lady said they were all booked up but that she would call me if someone decides to reschedule or cancel. Less than an hour later she called me back saying they have a spot open! I arrived at their offices and was instantly greeted by the receptionist. The staff was very sweet and kind, even offered me some water! I waited a few minutes and they called me back to start the exam… The doctor that examined me was very nice and gave me the good news that i had 20⁄20. But because i sit at a computer all day and I’ve been having some problems with my eyes feeling tired, she recommended i try some reading glasses. I tried a few on and found a pair of «GUESS» that i fell in love with! The order was placed and a week later i was rocking my new glasses! However a day after i picked them up a diamond fell off from the side of the frame, i called and informed them of what had happened and the lady said she would order me a new pair at no additional charge! Awesomeeee… some i waited a few more days and i got a new frame (WITH ALL THE DIAMONDS). Id definitely recommend this optometry to other people, not just for the great customer service, but for the cleanliness of their establishment and the selection of frames! Keep up the good work guys! :)

Dr. Hernandez Optometry is by far my favorite optometric office in the area! I come from Covina to get my eyes checked and buy my glasses!
The staff is nice, helpful, and professional. The selection of glasses they have is outstanding in regards to style, and price!
Even if they don’t have a pair of glasses you want they can order them for you and you can come in later to check them out. I’ve bought a couple pairs like that.
With Dr. Hernandez Optometry you’ll walk out of there with clearer vision, and will wake up the next morning with a better view on life! That’s why they get 5 stars from me :)

I have been going to Dr. Hernandez Optometry for over five years now, and I have always found them to be friendly and professional. The staff members are warm and welcoming, and they are always running on time.
