I can’t believe Yorbita is on here! I went here from 3^rd grade to 5^th grade. Oh God, I was so young. I came here straight from a private Christian school in Covina. I had never been in the public system before so all this was so new and scary. I decided that i would just make a list of things i learned because i don’t remember much else.
Things I learned:
–some students (low income kids) get free lunch, which at the time i didn’t understand and thought that certain kids were randomly chosen for free lunch.
–my first cuss words
–giving attitude and talking back was very necessary
–i was a big nerd
–i was actually one of the smart kids
–i was obsessed with my image (still am)
–how to play the recorder, the only instrument i ever learned
–working in the cafeteria makes you smell like a garbage disposal
–i get along with people older than me (i exclusively hung out with the people a grade older than me)
–saving your money for the ice cream truck is better than cafeteria food
–i don’t like the chili limon stuff
–some people actually don’t wash their hands after using the bathroom
–i’m oddly good at tether ball, hand ball and four square
–oregon trail is only fun the first time you play it
–i can run long distances without stopping
–GATE makes others feel like dumb asses and it makes people in it do so much more work.
–no matter what school i go to i always get «talks too much» on my report card
–i am in actuality an asshole
I loved this school in the end even if it wasn’t in the best neighborhood, and even if i had to walk hella far to get home. DAMN the school buses for not having a route to my house. The teachers were great, only because they all loved me; classes were good sizes and students were constantly rewarded for good behavior and good grades.
Oh… memories!
