Top Speed Running

My 2^nd time coming to this store and both times helped out by an employee named Brighton.
1^st time I came in looking for NipGuards, which they stock, and ended up walking out with a pair of shoes too.
Brighton had me run and walk back and forth few times saw what my foot does and pulled out about 6 pairs of shoes to try. All felt good and was hard to choose, but was able to finally decide on a pair and walked out happily.
After a while I finally donated my old shoes and put my new ones on, felt good for the walk and warmup, however near the middle of my run, my feet were killin me on the sides and had to stop. I went back in to tell him and he was able to credit me for my shoes and find others that would alleviate the tension on the sides of my feet. Tried another run in these and now found my perfect fit.
Brighton was very good about my situation and if you want great customer service, this is the store and that is the guy.
Prices are good, comparable to what you find online, but no waiting. Has tons of running apparel, accessories, and huge shoe selection for a small store. I will be back here in the future.

I was recommended to this store from my physical therapist due to the fact I’m flat footed. I needed shoes with arch support. When I arrived an employee of the name of Bryton helped me out. I explained my situation to him and he took out different styles of shoes for me to try on. He was a big help. He watched the way I walked with each shoe and recommend what shoe would best fit me. I never had this type of customer experience walking into any other shoe place. I’m definitely going back in the future and recommending any friends that are in need of good quality shoes. Thank you again Bryton for all your help you were awesome.

Loved the store. Super efficient and super friendly, I was in and out in 15 minutes with fantastic running shoes. Rob was really knowledgeable and extremely helpful in picking the right shoe. 5 stars rightly earned!

The experience really depends on what employee helps you. All are knowledgable and are able to do the gait test but how good they are at telling what your gait is questionable. Apparently both my boyfriend and I have a neutral gait yet only 15% of people have that.
Also other than the gait test they don’t recommend much. They bring out a huge amount of shoes for you to try on and test by running outside which is nice.
Overall, one of the better places to buy running shoes but not the best in every area of recommendations.

Meager selection and clueless employees with bad attitudes. I thought this place would be mediocre when I first called, but I had no idea how bad it really was.
I said I pronate and need some stability shoes. The girl brings out 5 pair of shoes which 3 were for neutral running. I ask why those were there and just received a blank confused stare. «I need a stability shoe» I said, and she seriously says, «lol ooooh okay. I just thought you’d like these». WTF?
I asked if I could just get a pair of the shoes I knew worked for me and she actually asked me to try on shoes that I’ve tried before and mentioned weren’t what o needed. All I wanted was to buy shoes I knew I needed and I ended up just wasting all my time here with this incoherent employee.

Positive — Great selection of shoes.
Negative — Next time, just show me in the back where the shoes are. Because if all you’re gonna do is line up 5 pairs of shoes for my wife to try on and leave her to do the rest, I can do all of that for her. I even told you she pronates and needs a stability shoe. But still had to do the «neutral» shoe fit I guess. My experience is, if I’m the customer you’re with, others can wait. Much better experience at Fleet Feet in Rancho and a 15% military discount. But with all the 5 star comments before me, these comments will probably be disregarded.

Great customer service and shoes. Didn’t feel rushed or pressured and like every other review I left happy. Feels good to support the small local store too.

Most of the other reviews have covered what’s great about Top Speed Running, and how they make sure you’re in the right shoe for your feet and gait, so I’ll just add a few things:
1) All the folks working there were very nice, helpful, and obviously knowledgeable. No one pressured me to buy anything, and Elizabeth (who helped me) was patient and understanding as I tried on multiple pairs of shoes multiple times.
2) The store has a great selection of shoes. The last time I was fitted for a running shoe (many years ago at a different store), the person helping me basically said «This is the right shoe for you,» and that was that. There were no other options — and of course, they were u-​g-​l-​y Ugly! Not so at Top Speed — I got to try a whole selection of lovely sneaks.
3) The store has a nice return policy, which allows you to return shoes even if they’ve been worn (for store credit) for up to 30 days, which allows you to try them out in the real world and make sure you get the right pair.
4) Apparently, there’s a group that meets there on Tuesday and Thursday evenings for group runs. I don’t know much more than that, but I always like a store that builds a community too.
I’ve already recommended them to my two roommates, both of whom need new running shoes. Definitely worth the trip!

I don’t live in the area but I noticed this place while visiting my mom in nearby Claremont. I wanted to see if they had heel liners. I am a big guy and I’m a treadmill walker and I put a lot of pressure on my heels and recently have been getting blisters. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by a young lady that was also helping another customer.
I told her what I was looking for and she made some recommendations. I also needed some socks and they had a wide assortment on the wall so I picked up a pack and some Body Glide. Now back to the young lady’s recommendation. She mentioned that my shoes may be worn out. Now of course I didn’t want to believe her because by shoes are only around three-​four months old and they still look new since they’ve only seen the inside of a gym, but she got me thinking. A lot of thinking.
When I got back home I started reading up on what she said. So I talked myself into buying a new pair of shoe’s. Now unfortunately as i mentioned above I don’t live in the area and I was not going to drive to La Verne from LA during afternoon traffic and I needed the shoe’s for first thing the next morning. So I bought some shoe’s locally.
After two workouts the next day I’m happy to say my feet feel great with the new pair of shoes. No new blisters and no pain. I owe all this to the young ladies expert knowledge and honesty. Now I’m sorry I didn’t purchase my shoes at TSR but I’ll be back.
To the owner of TSR: Can you thank the young lady for me. I was in on Thursday March 6 around 11:30 am. I’ll be back.

Customer service is second to none! I felt a little self-​conscious since I’m a pretty big guy and obviously not a runner, however the lady (sorry I didn’t get her name) was extremely helpful. She had me check my foot style and then had me try on 10+ shoes. She was incredibly patient. A lot of specialty shops usually try to up sell you on different things especially if they can tell your inexperienced. However I never once felt any pressure to buy or any mundane ‘would you like shoe spray’ pitches.

This is a good store with a decent selection. The prices are a bit high, but your feet are worth it

Nothing new to add here. I’m a 61 year old jogger. They listened attentively to all my complaints and problems and recommended 3 shoes after watching me on the treadmill. I chose the Brooks Beast. Found their prices to be fairly competitive and if they were $ 5 more the advice was surely worth it.
If you’re looking for this store on Foothill, get off on the Foothill offramp if approaching from the west, or the Fruit Avenue offramp from the east. Store is set all the way back facing Foothill in the center that has a Bank of America at the street.

No bull… they have you run on a treadmill to look at your heal strike… great service… same price as… Ama​zon​.com

Bottom Line: their knowledge, service and products are great:
They take the guess work out of finding shoes for serious running, assessing your gait as you run on a treadmill. They are all seasoned runners/​coaches, willing to talk through any questions or issues you may have.
I have probably purchased a dozen pairs of shoes from them (2 kids, cross-​country + track, plus my own running). I’ll be back there again, when my son’s soles run thin.
My daughter, as it turns out, has very severe over-​pronation. They got her into the right shoes, and she was able to run varsity cross country for 3 years with good speeds and no injuries.

My physical therapist suggested going to this store to get good shoes to wear while I recovered from my broken foot. I’m so glad I came here because the sales person definitely knew her stuff. She had me walk around the store a little to see my natural gait and was able to pick out shoes that helped with my overpronation and also provided me with the support that I needed. I believe you are even able to order a different color/​size/​style of shoe if they don’t currently have it in the store. I did not want to wait for my order to come in, but I think having that option is great.
Good place to go if you take your feet seriously.

I’m not a lightweight person, and years of being overweight has really killed my feet. And, as I’ve been working towards losing the pounds, I’ve been repeatedly buying shoes, trying said shoes, getting really painful feet, and giving up. (I’ve had a couple minor successes, but I’m going to stress the ‘minor’ part here.)
And so it was that when I found this place, I cheered. Inwardly, of course. I probably would’ve confused the heck out of the young guy who helped me out.
I’m an overpronator, but moreso in one foot than in the other — he could tell that rather quickly as I walked on the treadmill. In addition, while my stride was acceptable, I know my wimpy feet, and I told him I needed something with good cushion and heel support.
In a matter of moments after watching my stride, he had four pairs of shoes out for me to take a look at — two pairs of Brooks, one Asics, and one other variety. (The fourth, I tried and didn’t like immediately, so I didn’t pay attention.) But the reality is that the other three pairs, I would have likely bought any one of, had I found them elsewhere… I just hadn’t found them elsewhere.
I ended up with the Asics — great stability shoes, good arch support, excellent padding. The Brooks that they carry are also great, and I might end up trying out a pair of those eventually as well for variety and to see which work better for me in the long-​term. But really, it’s being able to walk into a place like this and –get– someone to help you find a pair that fits you well and that is comfortable from the get-​go that’s invaluable. You can’t find many places that even know their stock well enough to make recommendations, much less one which can tell which ones won’t work and which will.
I will warn that the prices can be up there (I paid $ 139 for my shoes, although I saw ranges anywhere from about $ 79 on up)… but in the case of these shoes, you get what you pay for. And if you’re on your feet a lot (I am, I walked about 9 miles yesterday between treadmill and work), and you’re looking for any specifics, these guys will help you find exactly what you’ll need to keep moving.
I didn’t really look around the rest of the shop as much, but they have some basic sports clothing (running gear, mostly), a rather interesting belt/​water bottle system which I found sort of neat, some various exercisers for people who suffer from plantar fascitis, and other related fitness gear. I wouldn’t mind just browsing the rest of their stuff at some point in the future. But for now, I think I’m going to go out and take a walk. (And maybe do another one of those inward cheers. Shoes which –fit– me properly, hooray!)

This place is awesome!!! I’m about to run my first half marathon and these people were very informative. I loved that they put me on a treadmill and actually watched how I ran.
Excellent customer service. I have been telling all my fellow running buddies about them. My shoes were decently priced too!
