Fred Meyer

I’m a Fred Meyer convert since moving to the PacNW. This FM location is well maintained and the staff are all pleasant and do their jobs well. The biggest downfall for this location is that the parking lot is a MAJOR clusterf***. The store is very busy and the volume makes this spread out parking lot a headache unless you are there at 7am.
The registers on the far side of the store can either be a breeze to get through or your worst nightmare. The last time I checked out on that side of the building the lines were long and slow moving. With no self check lanes to be found…
Fred Meyer really needs to consider opening more stores on the east side of town to take the load off of this location so the parking lot is not such a mess.

Always do my weekly grocery shopping here. They have a pretty great rewards program similar to Safeway’s. I have a costco card but I always go here or to Safeway to get gas because there is way less of a line than at costco. I go grocery shopping here instead of Safeway because Fred Meyer has a better selection. Fred Meyer has a great app for coupons and I LOVE the Fred Meyer coupon policy!
The store has been recently remodeled and I hate it. During the weekends it can be pretty hectic in the grocery part of the store. I also don’t like the locations for things in the aisles, it can be quite hard to find what your looking for. If you have the app, you can look up where the item is in the store, but sometimes it will just say «General Merchandise» which isn’t helpful at all.
The parking lot isn’t well laid-​out and is quite bumpy; it can be hard to navigate a full cart over all the bumps.
The cashiers are okay. Some of them are really slow but they are ALWAYS friendly! It would speed things up if they hired some baggers. Apparently, this store has fancy technology that enables them to have the appropriate amount of checkout lanes open always. They claim you will never have more than one person in front of you in line, and so far this has been true for me. So if you see a long line of people, be sure to lookout for other open lanes. But keep in mind, some cashiers may be faster than others…
I also love the apparel section of the store! I am very picky when it comes to my clothes and Fred Meyer is the only place I can get exactly what I want. They once had a pair of shorts that neither Kohl’s, Target, or even Amazon had!
BTW if you are 55 or older, on the first Tuesday of every month, you can save an extra 10% off of your order, but only on certain brands, and you have to ask for the discount at the time of checkout.
I love Fred Meyer and their employees, and I see myself going to this store for a long time to come!

They have really invested in cleaning this store up. It’s bright and clean. Like many I’ve seen across western Washington, they are in the process of a grand re-​opening. It’s probably been open for 25 years and was starting to show its age. It’s been 20 years since I lived here and so it took me a while and several trips back and forth across the 44k sq ft of space to find all that I needed. Got 99% of it — so not quite a one stop shop but pretty damn close.

Fred Meyer has a very wide variety of items, from organic gluten free groceries to clothes to camping gear. They also have gardening items, sports items, furniture and outdoor furniture, office supplies, and more. They have some stuff that is expensive and they have some really great deals. I love that they have a lot of healthy food items. I don’t know why I don’t come here very much! I really should.

This establishment is on par with similar competitors such as Walmart, and Target. However where they surpass these companies is with there food selection. Especially the organic selection. Fred Meyer also has major discounts on the household items. This is my go to place.

These people really did me a solid. One time I bought one of those Sterilite cabinets with the drawers and got it out to the parking lot only to find that my Ford Focus didn’t have an opening wide enough to allow the cabinet in. My car looked big enough to hold it, but the doors open only so much, the trunk was the same story, etc… Anyway, I went back inside with it all defeated and said I had to return it because I couldn’t get it home. At that point the manager, the nice guy with the grey hair and mustache, walked up and asked what was going on. When I told him, he volunteered to take it in his truck and drive it to my house when he got off at midnight. This guy took time out of his own day, time he wasn’t getting paid for, to bring me my oversized purchase. How awesome is that?
Plus the staff have always been friendly on my many visits since then and are actually still really accommodating during the re-​model they have going on now, which I know must be stressful for them.
I also really appreciate that you can mute the voice on the self-​check machines, since I hate computers trying to tell me what to do.

They have everything here! This place is dangerous for me since it’s about a 5 minute walk from my work. I’m able to do my grocery shopping here while I’m on my lunch break.
They have a huge selection of organics which is a huge plus!!! The deli is decent… and rewards points go towards discounts on Fred Meyers gas.

wow… i have been avoiding this store since moving to washington, the apt mgr said it was very expensive… like a whole foods… just happened to go in … after looking all over lacey for a loaf of challah… to no avail… went in and was pleasantly shocked at the reasonable prices at the deli… so i decided to look around… oy fricking vey… more stuff reasonable… so i went shopping and discovered a whole department store on the pther side omg!!! so i really went shopping for towels, lamp, table, chairs and bed risers… who knew? cant rely on anybody’s assessment of anything in wa. bf checking it out myself… now its my place to go instead of driving over to martin way.

HUGE store, seems bigger then the Freddy’s in the Puyallup area, I did like how it was set up, and the prices seem good. The negative, other then the checkout area there didnt seem like many employees around the store where if you need help.
The store is nice and clean though and the parking lot seems to be laid out pretty good.

I’m a big fan of Fred Meyer and shop at them a lot. This store is as good as the others. This review will pertain to whether or not you can get your RV in the parking lot. You could, if you were desperate, get your RV in here. But, it’s a little dicey as you would have to «weasle» a lot. The configuration of the parking lot doesn’t leave much room for RV’s to weasle in. You might get by with parking a block away at another place and walking over. I came here in a car.

This grocery store is my favorite because it’s a one stop shop and it’s not WalMart.
Shout out to Miss Amy (she works every department, so it seems, because she rocks like that).
Very clean and there is always parking.

Going in here gives me anxiety but it has to be done sometimes. The place is huge with a million entrances. It has a offers jewelry, lawn and garden, electronics, clothes, cosmetics, grocery, seasonal, home items. The prices are ok but they do have some really good sales so watch out for those flyers and in store coupons. The staff are hard to come by but when you find one theyre generally pretty helpful.

By far my favorite grocery store to go to! Grew up with Kroger brand stores in Kansas (Dillon’s) and they have always been reasonably priced.
I love the huge organic and gluten free selection that is offered, along with the large produce and deli section.
Don’t forget to get your rewards card! Earn points for gas price reduction, along with double-​point specials. Can load in store coupons to your card (they have a great app for your smartphone), which doesn’t affect using your manufacture’s coupons! Definitely check out your local store.

Great store, have been shopping here for years. Prices are always much better than other stores in the area, and the staff is always friendly and helpful — many of the checkstand operators have been here 20 years or more, it’s nice to shop at a place where you get to recognize the staff!

When I was little my mom used to always bring me to fred meyer or «freddies» as everyone calls it and I have fond memories of munching on some chocolate chip cookies while riding in the shopping carts. Sadly we moved many years ago and switched to the local Safeway store which is decent, but it doesn’t have the amount of variety Fred Meyer has. This place has a huge wine/​spirits section, a large outdoor garden center, an electronics center, clothing, fresh seafood and meat, TONS AND TONS OF OLIVES, numerous organic foods you can’t find anywhere else in the area (except maybe top foods), and much more.
Sadly this store also reminds me of death. My poor little giraffe stuffed animal jumped out of our shopping cart when I was little and it was never to be seen again. Sometimes while browsing the isles I can hear his ghost’s faint giraffe voice calling to me…

I usually shop at Fred Meyer for groceries, but I do occasionally shop here for clothes.
JUNIOR DEPARTMENT
I have been shopping at Fred Meyer for clothes for over 13 years. This was one of the few places I could find pants in my size. Some of the pants come in short sizes, which saves me from having to get them hemmed. The Junior’s department has a nice selection of dresses. Normally the prices are a tad expensive, but become reasonable during sales. I have bought several nice summer dresses here. There are also nice sweaters available.
LADIES
I have an okay time finding work-​friendly clothes in the front area, near the electronics department. There are quite a few dockers, below-​the-​knee skirts, blouses, sweaters, and dresses that are my size. This is also across the way from the jewelry aisle (not to be confused with Fred Meyer Jewelers). The jewelry aisle sells clip-​on earrings. I love this because I am allergic to most jewelry and clip-​on earrings don’t give me problems.
BABIES and CHILDREN
The selection of baby clothes is small and I only shop here during sales. Many more cute styles for girls than boys, which tends to be the norm. Not a great selection for the under 3-​month category, but an okay selection for older babies and young toddlers. Fred Meyer is an okay place to get large packages of kid socks and underwear. We all know kids lose socks and it’s worth buying 2 bulk packages of socks at a time.
There is a much better selection for older children. Fred Meyer carries skinny style jeans. The button-​up shirts tend to last a long time. There are also very cute dresses available for special occasions. I always get dresses during sales. The brands here last quite a while and have gone through at least 3 different girls while still looking new.
SOCKS and UNDERWEAR
The selection of men’s socks and underwear is okay. They sell boxer briefs and large packages of white socks. I don’t buy women’s underwear here. I have a terrible time finding my size. Unless I am looking in the wrong place, I can’t seem to find 36 D’s.
TALL MEN’S SIZES
There are Talls available in Carhart’s but not in the other men’s/teen’s sections. My husband has a difficult time finding pants here that fit in length. He can find some occasionally, but it takes a bit of looking.
SHOES
The shoe section is decent. There are many options for ladies’ sizes and kid’s sizes. They sell men’s 12’s in hiking boots and sometimes sneakers/​walking shoes. Not a lot available for ‘nicer’ work shoes. If you are a ladies’ size 4, 5, or 6 there are quite a few options. If you are a very small ladies’ size, you will be able to find adult-​friendly styles in the kid’s section. I have gotten quite a few nice low-​heels in the kid’s shoe department.
The quality of the kid’s shoes here is usually quite good. My kid is hard on shoes, but sneakers purchased here tend to outlast four kids while still looking nice. Fred Meyer also sells Saltwater Sandals, which are great for the summer.
BEDDING
This is an okay place for comforters and warm, fuzzy blankets. This may not be the store for you if your washing machine is hard on fabrics, is an older model, or if it’s a washing machine at an assisted-​living facility. My grandmother bought all of her sheets and bedding here prior to moving into an assisted living facility. The rough washer and high-​heat ruined her sheets. We ended up buying her replacements and washing them at home. Fred Meyer is a good place to buy bedding for children or college students.
THE KID’S AREA «Freddie’s Playland»
Your child must be at least 2 years old to be in Playland. The attendants do not take the children to the bathroom or change diapers. If your child needs to go to the restroom, the attendant will page you so you can take the child. No food is allowed in Playland. The attendants in Freddie’s Playland do a good job monitoring children while parents are out shopping. Kids get to play with peers and watch movies. It’s a friendly environment and my daughter always made sure I put her in Playland before we went shopping so she could play with the other kids. Children graduate from Freddie’s Playland when they enter Kindergarten.
GROCERIES
Fred Meyer is an all right place for groceries. This isn’t the #1 grocery store I shop at for food, but it’s still nice. Everything is easy to find. The fruits and vegetables are quite fresh and are rarely bruised. There is a decent selection of organic and whole foods. The store brand foods taste fine. If you receive WIC benefits, Fred Meyer honors WIC checks.
TOILETRIES/​Other
Nice selection of shampoo and soap for people with sensitive skin. Bars of soap are available in large multi-​packs. There seem to be large sizes of everything. Overall, nice selection. Lotion, Epsom salts, toothpaste, cold medicine, etc is very easy to find. I appreciate that the family planning items aren’t locked away like they are at some stores. Fred Meyer also sells Jobst support hose!

I was pleasantly surprised by a visit to this Fred Meyer. The store itself is very large and incredibly clean, and I lost count of the number of friendly employees who asked if they could help me find something. I really liked the layout of the store and loved how wide the aisles are. I didn’t have trouble finding anything that I was after. I also really appreciate the bulk bin section for many of my foods. The prices of most things also seemed very competitive — much cheaper than Albertson’s, more expensive than Wal-​Mart/​Winco, but on par with or maybe slightly better than Safeway. And while I didn’t need any non-​grocery items, it’s nice to know that all of that is available. I would definitely return here.

I like the layout of this Fred Meyer. It is surprisingly big inside as well. They’ve got a Starbucks and a jewelry counter and I believe a vision center. It’s like Walmart but doesn’t have the Walmart feel in side. It feels more like a department store but more laid back and chill. They have a huge wine and spirits section and the largest selection I’ve seen of natural foods, organics, etc in a bigger «box store». Overall just a wonderful selection. And if you’re looking for pet food, housewares, garden equipment, you name it… it’s all in this huge store. All that’s missing is an auto center. Haha! Oh one thing I like is that they have self checkouts. I personally like checking myself out and not having to wait in line, although there usually aren’t a huge amount of lines when I go in there. They seem to actually have adequate staffing. Oh and even though I don’t have kids, they have a «nursery» to drop your kids off while you shop. Fred Meyer really is a one stop shopping center. Check it out!

I have been shopping here for the last 4 years. I love the customer service! Michelle in produce always helps me pick out the best items. Then there is Ida on register #14. she is awesome and so helpful too. My only pet peeve is the girls in the starbucks area aren’t as nice as they could be. Even though they are selling starbucks they still work for Fred Meyer and should act like it.

This is our go-​to place whenever we shop for fresh produce because they have the best selection in my book. Fresh and crisp vegetable all the time. They have higher prices on other selections that we get elsewhere for cheaper. We also shop there for home stuff, I got some Bombay Co. mirrors on sale. We also go there during end of season sales because they mark down most stuff really low. Customer service is great. Clean and organized. My only complaint is the small and narrow parking area. During weekends, it gets crazy.
