History

Established in 2000.

While You R Away® was founded in 2000 by Michael Klein & Linda Valentine of Ladera Ranch, CA who left the professional world in pursuit of their dream — to create and market the most professional, caring, & successful in-​home pet sitting services companies in the United States. In early 2005, While You R Away® was registered and trademarked with the US Patent Office.

In late 2005, Michael & Linda teamed up with Ladera Ranch neighbor (and pet sitting client), Steve Blazier. Their goal was to expand his services throughout Orange County, CA and eventually nationwide. Shortly thereafter, Steve decided he would launch While You R Away® — Irvine as Owner/​Operator. On March 6^th, 2006 the second location was born.

Three years later Beverly Oden, a long-​time pet sitter and supervisor for the Ladera location, decided to launch our third location in September of 2008. The While You R Away® — Laguna location services Dana Point, Laguna Niguel, Aliso Viejo and surrounding cities. Combined,

Michael Klein President/​Founder

Michael co-​owns and operates the South County location and is the creative genius behind While You R Away®. He spent over 30 years in the service and retail industry before following his true love — working with animals. While Michael never minds sitting for the clients’ pets, he is more at home on the marketing side of things. He resides in Ladera Ranch with his wife, Linda, their daughter, Lindsey, and their two dogs and two cats.
