I’d say the only reason to come here would be the atmosphere. The staff was great no complaints there and they have live music which is cool BUT the food isn’t that good. I’ve definitely had better. The salsa is thick and pasty and had a really weird consistency. The chips had a lime flavor which is fine if that’s what you like but I don’t. I ordered chicken enchiladas with all three sauces. The flour tortillas were store bought, not made in house which was extremely disappointing and they were lukewarm. I could have made the enchiladas at home, not special at all. The sides were refried beans and rice which weren’t great either. I’ve had better plenty of other places. Defiantly won’t be going back for the food. Like I said before though staff was great, atmosphere is cool but the food isn’t that good.

I am from Texas and this is a darn pretty good Mexican restaurant. I LOVED the atmosphere and the live music. My waiter was very helpful & accommodating to my request and the food was pretty good for this picky Tex-Mex gal! I had the fajitas and they were pretty good. I can’t wait to go back and try another dish.

Definitely not the best Mexican food I’ve ever had. I am from Florida and my friend is Texas, so we both know what Mexican and Latin food is SUPPOSED to taste like. This wasn’t it. Also, they only had two ppl working in the restaurant on a Wednesday afternoon, so that should’ve been a clue that it wasn’t good. Even though there were only four people in the restaurant the service was so slow. No one even greeted us when we walked into the door. I don’t intend to return here.

Excellent patio with live music, with great service, drinks, and food! Love this place and it’s vibe!

As other reviews have stated, unless you want to drink overpriced margaritas, go somewhere else. And, you are going to have to be buzzed in order to think the food is any good. The whole experience is a no-go. Never again

Agave is always a favorite in our handful of restaurants we visit when we’re in Lafayette! We love sitting on the festive patio with live music. We always start with(margs, duh — and) the Queso de Agave loaded with guacamole and chorizo. It’s a large serving and is easily split as an app between 4 – 5 people. We also tried the tortilla soup on our last visit; that was definitely the first tortilla soup I’ve ever had with a gumbo twist! It’s an interesting version that you won’t find anywhere else; it’s worth trying. I saw there’s a soup and taco special on the Lunch Menu– try it! I am a complete sucker for their fried oyster tacos — they are fantastic! It’s difficult for me to order anything else knowing I can have those… Other favorite items from others in the fam include fish tacos and shrimp fajitas.

Patio was great with live music &AC blowers. Margaritas were just ok & overpriced for ok. I ordered the Seafood Rolleno which was good except they drowned it in too much sauce. Queso Agave was the best but the chips were chewy & greasy.

Great patio but how can the food possibly be so bad ??? Awful. Just because this is lafayette doesn’t mean we will settle for complete crap — please show some effort. Margaritas are good

In town for a baseball tournament and stayed in River Ranch. It was a busy Saturday night with live music but we luckily got a table outside. Atmosphere was lively and perfect weather for outside seating. The ambience far exceeded the menu. We ordered a mango margarita and a chambord margarita. Both were way too sweet. We immediately wished we had ordered a regular margarita. The queso was a bowl of melted cheese that wasn’t even melted completely. No flavor at all and very thick. Salsa was okay. Husband ordered the ribeye with ancho sauce. Not good. Parts were raw. I ordered the shrimp ceviche and it was drowning in an overpowering spicy sauce. Service was good and had a fun atmosphere but menu was lacking.

Ya know, I’ve eaten at the original Agave downtown, and had one of the most disgusting and unpleasant meals of my life. I believe I gave them one star. I don’t know if its the same owner who owns all three in Lafayette, but I can tell you that I had to be dragged to this new one by the ‘mausoleum’ in River Ranch. The food here is ok. the service is ok. The atmosphere is ok. and the back patio is way better than ok. The fajitas were nothing even remotely close to what I’ve had at La Pagua and Aztecas, and the cheese nachos were pretty awful. I can’t go better than 3 stars here… would have been two, except for the luscious patio.

Food is decent but pricey. Drinks very expensive. Margs just ok. Outside patio is a 5 star. It is the only reason to come.
