I took my VW here because I was having some issues with the oil system. They were able to repair it quickly and at a reasonable price. When I went to pick my car up, to my surprise, the gentleman at the desk had a packet of pictures of the various things he had repaired. I appreciated how he explained exactly what they had repaired and how they did it. I wasn’t charged for rediculous extra things I didn’t need. They are honest, straightforward, and have outstanding customer service. I Highly recommend Becks.

The beef tongue soup and the pork belly something (can’t remember the name but with spicy vegetables) are really good. Waitresses very nice.

They are friendly, knowledgeable, and try to save me as much time and money as possible. I’ve have a couple things done there and I cannot recommend them any higher. I love the service and I trust them ! Wonderful company!

Great place! I was referred to this place by Quicklube, and was fully satisfied with the services provided. Not only were they really quick and efficient with the repair to the Flex Pipe in my exhaust system, they took me out to show me the issue. I’ve never had a mechanic that took the time to show and explain issues to customers. As I noted, they were incredibly quick. I pulled in a little before 8, and was out of there by 830. Great service, great work, and, an overall GREAT experience!

OK, so I published the review below just yesterday. This morning I received a voicemail from Rob Hancock, the owner. I returned his call on my lunch break and am very happy I did. We discussed the details of the situation even though it occurred well over a year ago. He said to me «I wish you would have just called me so I could have had the opportunity to make things right» and I feel like he did just that with this conversation. This is a lesson learned for me from a customer standpoint — businesses need us to tell them when they have not met our expectations so they may make corrections for the next customer. Today was the 1^st time he and I had actually talked about this. Rob seems dedicated to delivering quality care to his customers and I honestly believe he would have made things right, had I given him the chance. That’s my mistake. Had this review actually posted when I initially wrote it in the week after the «alignment», I’m confident this guy would have actually taken care of the situation. Rob didn’t ask me change this review or up the Rating any. He actually asked me to leave this review up so he could provide some feedback/​insight for his loyal and new customers. This shows great integrity and that is a value I really respect in a company. Read the other reviews and bring your business here. The person who worked on my vehicle is not there anymore. In the off chance that you have an issue after your service here, ask for Rob and he’ll take care of you. Don’t make the same mistake I did and take to the internet without trying to resolve anything.

I was quite possibly more frustrated with this place than if I were working on my own car without any tools. Because they couldn’t figure out the few total steps to align the front end of a 1986 VW Golf, I was forced to pay approximately $ 600.00 labor for an alignment and my keys… This happened around August or September 2012 and I have since moved away from Lafayette, but this was the worst experience I have ever had, so I felt it’s probably best I share. Some insight into the situation: I am no certified mechanic, but I know how to work on my vehicles and I owned/​followed the Bentley Repair manual for my vehicle when I did work on it. I replaced a bad power steering rack, the hoses from the rack to the pump, ball joints and tie rod ends, and sub-​frame bolts without any issues. I even aligned the vehicle following some of the most basic methods. The methods are really only effective on a simple car like this 86 VW Golf. See the write up here:
I was reluctant to even bring my car anywhere as it drove straight, steered properly, and gave me absolutely no issues. I became convinced to get the alignment as shops have «special tools» and can get all the angles mapped out for a” perfect alignment”. This was total BS. I dropped the car off and received a call later that they were having some issues and it would be an extra day. The next day I got the same thing. The next day I got the same again and when they «got it as close as they could», I was told that the labor was going to be a bit much, but they justified it as their Tech’s did the «best they could». Also total BS. They made me pay $ 600 dollars and gave me a car that drove straight, the driver wheel was perpendicular to the group by eyes view, but the passenger side front wheel had the degree of camber similar the rear wheels of a «stanced» Honda Civic.
Unfortunately the car suffered a starter issue and had to be parked for a week or so while I recovered from the costs of the worlds worst alignment efforts. With the car on jacks and the starter issue resolved, I checked the passenger side wheel only to find the bolts that hold my control arm to the strut tightened to torque specs achievable by a 1^st grade underweight schoolgirl. I could move the entire assembly around with very little effort. THIS is the reason they couldn’t get it aligned. At this point I took it upon myself to follow the write up previously mentioned and properly aligned my vehicle in 20 freaking minutes. With everything tight and no longer a death trap, I took the car out for a drive and it drove perfect. I drove this car daily until last month when I sold it to purchase something newer. It had no toe-​in, no toe-​out, no camber, no caster — all accomplished using primitive techniques and basic math, measurements, and tools.
Take a look back at my update on this shop. I attribute this issue to a tech no longer here. My experience was awful, but new or returning customers have nothing to worry about. Thanks for the call Rob.

I went to Beck’s for brake light issues as well as a squeaking noise. Everyone who interacted with the customers (myself and the 5 others that came through) were extremely courteous and provided excellent customer service, which is a bit rarer when it comes to auto shops.
Given that I was over 30 minutes late to my appointment, the 1.5 hours it took was relatively expeditious. They found what was wrong with both, made sure I knew the costs & I gave them a go, and then fixed them. Cost was more than reasonable, as well. 28 dollars and change for new brake lights, lubing of my fan belt, and the labor.
Completely satisfied, will come here in the future. There’s a reason why they are rated so highly.

These guys give such great service. As a college woman who doesn’t know much about cars they make me feel comfortable. My car has been a few times and each time it needs more done than I come in for. They always ask before doing work and show a quote beforehand. They gave me some great advice to make sure my car will run smoothly! They let me know my tires weren’t too great and gave me an estimate of when I should get them changed. Such honesty and hard work. I would and have recommended this place to friends.

I’ve visited Beck’s twice, and had good experiences both times. They diagnosed my car’s problems very efficiently. Prices were very reasonable. Staff is capable and friendly.

I went here to get a stuck bolt extracted. Everyone was courteous and professional, and I was in and out in 30 minutes with minimal charge. The only wrinkle is that when I tried to use a Unilocal voucher, I was required to show both paper and digital copies (I had originally just brought a paper copy).
This isn’t a complaint or anything, but I just don’t think the staff was very knowledgable about how the redemption process is supposed to work (the vendor is supposed to enter the voucher code on their end in order to mark it as «used»).
Definitely will be returning here in the future!

I took my car in for an oil change and had a great experience. The service was relatively fast, and the owner was friendly and helpful. Unlike experiences I’ve had with other mechanics, they didn’t overcharge me, and they didn’t try to push any unnecessary services (like «topping off fluids»). The owner was also very thorough in explaining my car’s unique requirements (it has a fuel-​efficient engine, which requires an uncommon type of oil and filter), and he gave me all the information I need in case I want to buy the oil and filter myself in the future. Also, they had wifi, so I was able to work while I was there. I will definitely be back next time I need a mechanic.

My mechanic is sort of like my dentist. I wish I never had to see them, but they keep an essential part of my life in good shape. And having found Beck’s, I feel fortunate in knowing that my mechanic is also as competent as my dentist.
The family wagon has over 110k on it and was in dire need of all new brake pads and rotors. Beck’s gave an accurate quote (actually came in about $ 50 under), and did the job in one day. Also replaced a cooling system sensor & made that annoying «check engine» light go away. Labor rates are fair, and parts are marked up reasonably (say about 10−20% over retail). The staff is friendly and they explain everything in layman’s terms when asked.
It’s a far cry from the fleecing one gets at the dealer. If you’re going to be shelling out cold hard cash for a necessity, it’s nice to know you’re not being robbed blind.

These guys are awesome! Excellent customer service. They are also very knowledgeable. It’s hard to find truthful, knowledgeable, and nice mechanics when your an out of towner. I would definately recommend this company to everyone.
