Service was poor the guy was not very fond of working I guess. A lot of uh’s etc and didn’t pick up the dirty plates as he served us our main course. Had to practically bus it myself to make room on the tiny table so we could eat. Everything he talked about had the same descriptive saying«it’s awesome» when asked and seemed uninterested to give a personal response. Had the Milanese, and that too was lacking in flavor and dry. Nice size chop but needs a sauce to make up for the dryness and blandness. The arugula and watermelon radish was fine. Still if they would pair it with a pepper jelly or mustard it would help tremendously. The ramen is great and starting to think it might be the only delicious thing left on the menu. I Had the burrata which was very mild with barely a hint of a mozzeralla flavor with balsamic and garlic which was a nice combo but wouldn’t order it again just wasn’t worth the $ 12 imo. They now serve pizza which I will give a shot I guess but am starting to be less impressed with my meals the more I come. Maybe next season menus will be more impressive but I was left with more to be desired for the price.

Thank goodness for Bread & Circus. Great food and atmosphere. Wonderful friendly owners/staff. We had the mortadella salad and spinach salad. I added smoked salmon to the already included shaved Tasso. Both salads had wonderful fig vinaigrette. Very very good. We ordered the bean soup and orecchiette. Again very very good. This is a must stop. And we’ll be back to try amazing pizza and/or brunch.

Great staff. Eclectic atmosphere. Our appetizer was 2 minute calamari. Delicious! One thing that would have made it better was to have bread served with the calamari. We ordered a pizza that had cheese, garlic, arugula, mushroom, and a bacon like meat. It was not so great. It was definitely undercooked. Five minutes more would have meant a very different critique. We aren’t giving up on the restaurant.

First, another dollar sign should be added to the description of this restaurant. Since the last time I ate here, B&CP has changed into an Italian-esque pizza joint. The joy of eating at a place with a fire burning oven is when the simple humble food matches a simple humble price. My small family of three ordered a calzone for $ 9.00 which does not include a side of marinara; that’ll cost you an extra $ 3.00. We also ordered a small plate of gnocchi with«fried eggplant»(actually sauteed) for $ 15.00. Whaaaaat? Canned tomatoes, seasonal eggplant, potatoes. Second, our pizza arrived woefully underdone, tanned dough really, with a topping of guanciale(bacon-like pork cheek) which was chewy and flaccid. The service was excellent. Our waiter was efficient, professional, and knowledgeable. I will return to Bread & Circus Provisions when money means nothing to me.

Bou-nuts and beer for happy hour. Not a guarantee for all but they should start serving them nuts all day long. Way to go! I’ll be back next time I’m in Lafayette!

The pcp fries are the s##t but the fried chicken skins are good but only a few. I really like the meats you can get at the meat counter to bring home. It can get expensive but it’s all good

I ate here yesterday I really like the décor and the feel of the restaurant. I got the gumbo which was really good and the temp was piping hot. My husband had the fried chicken it was ok, while it was juicy I like a little more spice on my chicken but the skin was very delicious and it went perfect with the Gouda mac and cheese. We also got an order of the PCP fries it was good but the pork cheek was a tad to salty for my taste I think it has something to do with the curing of the meat. We will definitely be going back, I want to try a little bit of everything and hit up happy hour.

Went here Saturday for the first time, for brunch. I had Zo-Zo Ya Ya. Which was their chicken and waffles, it was great. It was garnished with siracha which went wonderfully with the sweet homemade syrup and walnuts. My gf had their version of Eggs Benedict, Hog Town Benedict. Homemade open face biscuit with a perfect poached egg, pork belly, peppercorn gravy and fried garlic spinach and onion jam. DELICIOUS! One side note though… if you make any changes to a drink order, make sure you ask about the up charge. We ended up paying $ 21 for a French 75 because we added a shot of St.Germaine.

Where to begin… I think this place sets out with the good intentions of bringing decent bistro-esque eats to Lafayette. However, the steak exemplifies the entire experience. I asked for medium rare but received what amounted to a raw steak that had been delicately seared on the outside. Only the most outside 5 mm of the steak were cooked while the inside remained completely raw. You could actually see the line between the cooked portion of the steak and the uncooked portion of the steak. There are two explanations:(1) the chef does not understand what medium rare entails(2) the steak was not allowed to sit properly outside of the refrigerator prior to being placed on a hot cooking surface, thereby resulting in a cold steak where only the outside is cooked. Actually, upon further reflection, I can only surmise that both explanations are at play. I am stunned that such an atrocity was even allowed to leave the kitchen.

What was once a place where my boyfriend and I loved to have our lunch dates has now become a place where our expectations go to die. The food has become mediocre(at least for lunch). My boyfriend ordered the plate lunch, which was the fried chicken that day, and the chicken was raw in the middle. We brought it to the counter to request another one instead, only to be told it was OK to eat because it was«organic.» Mind you, we had been here for the same lunch plate a few weeks prior and the chicken was nowhere near as undercooked. Probably our last visit.

I *really* wanted to like this place. I was at a private party last spring that was catered by Bread & Circus and thought all of the food I tried there was exceptional so I was really excited about trying their restaurant. Unfortunately, the excitement didn’t last very long once our food arrived. Maybe the mistake was choosing to go for late-night dinner instead of their daytime lunch menu which gets most of the good reviews here. The dinner menu is broken down into two entrée sections — «Small Plates» and«Big Plates». Unfortunately, we found out this turned out to be just a description of the size of the dish your embarrassingly small amount of food is served on, not the size of your actual meal. My wife opted for the«Small Plate» Louisiana wild boar & smoked tomato ragu gnocchi($ 13). What arrived was a very small plate of six, yes six, gnocchi covered in a ladle of ragu. For those unfamiliar, gnocchi is a very small dumpling-like«pasta» made from potato. Each one is slightly smaller than a tater tot. They are very cheap to make a lot of, especially in a commercial kitchen. Serving six and calling it an entrée is like asking someone if they would like a snack and then handing them a single potato chip. It took my wife about a minute-and-a-half to finish her plate, and she’s a slow eater. I choose the«Big Plate» beef short-ribs on aged goat cheese polenta($ 25). Sounds good, right? Well, what was served was a giant, high-rimmed bowl that dwarfed the very small serving that was lost in the bottom of it. To add insult to injury, the short-ribs themselves could have been braised a little longer to be more tender and they were on the fatty side. The chef(cook?) did not care enough to trim the surrounding excess fat before cooking them. The actual taste? Not bad but I’ve had better. Heck, I’ve made much better short-ribs myself. It’s not very difficult. Needless to say, we both left almost as hungry as we arrived. Not a way to win repeat customers. My advice — skip the dinner menu and make this a lunch destination.

This is one of the only serious restaurants doing contemporary American food in Lafayette. Almost everyone else comes across as twenty years behind the time in comparison. They cure their own meats, brine their own pickles, source everything they can locally, and prepare it with care and creativity. A recent visit began with the Farmhouse board of cheese and meats. And excellent Vermont double cream and the local Bayou Bleu made up the cheese selection, and housemade hogshead cheese and pork ciccioli were the meats. Caponata, honeycomb, fresh mustard, and sweet pickled watermelon rind accompanied a lovely cibatta to finish the board. The cheeses were excellent, and well paired with the caponata and the watermelon rind — the best I have had, and perhaps the best pairing with a blue cheese I have ever had. The meats were very good as well. The ciccioli, sort of a pressed confit of pork was rich and flavorful, topped with a layer of fat studded with intense, salty cracklins. The head cheese was soft and spreadable, perhaps a little bland, but quite tasty. We also shared a watermelon salad with feta, pea shoots, house-pickled pepperoncini, and choupique caviar. This was just about perfect, a balance of sweet, salty, creamy and bitter. The watermelon was luciously ripe, braced perfectly by the profound briny fishiness of the caviar. The peppers brought a vegetal bitterness that grounded the plate, while the cheese kept things from getting overwhelming. The mild crunch of the sweet pea shoots knitted everything together wonderfully. We were unable to resist the call of the spaghetti with bottarga to finish, and we were glad we did not. Fresh spaghetti simply dressed with olive oil with roasted garlic, pepper flakes, breadcrumbs, parmesan, and a very generous shower of shaved bottarga. Their bottarga is cured in house, and it has a rich, profound umami flavor with sweet and salty notes developing in delightful succession. The only weak spot in the dish was that the noodles were a bit overdone, but not enough to make a failure of the plate. The service is knowledgeable, efficient, and friendly. The style of the restaurant is unpretentious and laid back, with the feel of a curated deli. The restaurant is clean, and pleasantly stripped down. The concrete and exposed ceiling does make for a loud space, and the music seems roo be running of an iPod at random, which can be a little jarring, but it’s nice to have someone’s actual music collection playing. All in all, Bread & Circus Provisions is one of the few really exciting restaurants in town. If you are tired of chain food and limp tenth-generation xerox copies of toothless Creole classics, you might want to give them a try.

If I could give more stars I would. This is truly a farm to table restaurant. Such a chic place to dine. Went here with friends for brunch. Everything we ordered was stellar. Many compliments to the chefs. I ordered the pork belly eggs Benedict. Service was excellent. Also there’s a neat selection of branded merchandise and other items at the front of the restaurant.

This is our favorite place in Lafayette. The menu changes depending on the fresh, local ingredients they have. We always get the cheese and meat board. The atmosphere is nice and the drinks are great and creative.

Stopped by for lunch as we drove from New Orleans to Houston because we saw it on Food Network. Maybe my expectations where out of whack or i just envisioned something a little different. I had the Porchetta sandwich, and my wife had the shrimp Po Boy. We also split the Smoked Gouda Mac and cheese. The Porchetta was very tasty but maybe they were a bit heavy handed with the mustard, the Shrimp Po Boy was unremarkable and tasted about like every other one i have ever had. I will say the Mac & Chees was quite tasty, I have never had smoked Gouda like that before and it was a very good way to eat it ! I will give this place another chance when we can come and try out the dinner menu and I will adjust the stars accordingly.

Food was great. We tried nearly everything from appetizers(a group of 4) and most of the share plates… Mussels were amazing. Can’t think of anything that wasn’t amazing. Service left a lot to be desired and not just because of the time it took for him to return. He was NOT knowledgable about the menu at all, and I feel like at a place like this you really need to be. «This is like… Well, you just need to try it and see» is NOT an answer.

While there is no question that Lafayette LA is greatly endowed with regard to high quality dining establishments; few if any match the experience one has at Bread and Circus. Hang up your hangups, and give this unique eatery a try. You may find the hog heavy farm to table genius of Manny Augello is just what you were missing in your life.

Been wanting to try this place out but never was able to catch them because of my work schedule. finally had the time to catch the hype. And the hype is real. Easily one of my favorite spots around Lafayette now. Their menu is pretty exciting, since places around Lafayette normally doesn’t have food like this. dare I say, it reminds me of a Cochon Butcher in NOLA? Nevertheless, place is awesome, we had the following: — Chicken Skins — the deliciousness, crispiness, and saltiness makes this treat so much better, I can’t stop eating them! — PCP Home Fries — shredded pork cheek pastrami & melted swiss — the flavors were so bold and delicious, just wish the fries were a tad bit crispier — Chop Block Melt Sammie — pork cheek pastrami, corned beef & smoked beef tongue, slaw, swiss & celery salt mayo — this sandwich is compact with so many elevation of flavors, very delicious — Porchetta Sammie — herb & garlic roasted crispy pork belly, onion jam, fried garlic greens, apple & spicy beer mustard — delicious pork belly with a array of flavors on one sandwich, one complaint I do have was that my pork belly wasn’t crispy, but yet its still delicious I can’t wait to come here again for lunch! ***Came back to try the following: — Juicy Lucy — it was okay, maybe because I brought it home to eat, so the cheese solidified. the smoked rubbed chips was delicious though — Brisket Sammie — brisket with watermelon pepper jelly, slaw, blue cheese dressing on Evangeline Maid — delicious, but really messy, the brisket leaked through the bread, and was bread kept tearing, making it really hard to eat. — Kim Chee’s Trailer Park Fries — fries with watermelon rind kimchi, white & yellow cheese, miso aioli — I did not care for this, it was mediocre.
