Business Owner

Clark Russell has built his career on knowing that being a great hairstylist means not limiting yourself to one ethnicity in hairstyling. Clark Russell, who is a «VIP Make-Over Artist», has taken on this philosophy to his clients. When starting out in his career, Clark Russell was crossing over ethnic boundaries with his clients to give them the polished look they wanted. Clark has implemented this concept throughout his career and has become a respected stylist, make-over artist and beauty expert.

Clark has worked as a Celebrity Stylist, Head Designers for major ad campaigns and fashion shows. His passion for styling and maintaining healthy hair has lead him to create his own luxury haircare and stylng line. Clark continues his work by educating stylists that work under his team. The next best thing to getting in Clark’s chair is getting in the chair next to hime with one of the salon’s other amazing stylists.

My stylist Andrea is amazing! She has been doing my hair for the past 5 years (3 of which she has worked at Clark Russell). I’ve always looked for a stylist to «just know» what I want and that relationship takes a lot of time. The salon is clean and the other stylists are very personable and inviting. In observing their interaction with their clients, they seem to have that same personal relationship. If you’re looking for a very talented, personable, and long term stylist, see Andrea!

I would not recommend this salon. The prices are extremely high. While Clark’s cutting your hair, he’s usually gossiping with his staff or planning his next fashion show. Once I overheard him laughing with his staff about how he cleverly got rid of a bad client. He is not focused on doing your hair, that is, unless you’re one of his more wealthy, prominent clients who he dotes over. The regular gal gets barely a nod, and the cut is usually lopsided. His highlights are always one note, blond, and obvious. No real texturing like I’ve gotten in other salons. I will not be going back. Don’t waste your time and money.

Clark is a master. He’s an expert at color, I’ve seen blondes and brunettes leave his salon faultless.
Clark can also can cut and style your hair in such a way that you leave feeling like a red carpet should be waiting!
On top of being talented, Clark is a nice person, his clients become lifelong friends.

I was looking for a new hair salon and chose Clark Russel from a local ad. Went in for a hi-light and cut. Michelle did both and here are my disappointing findings: I am a blonde and asked for hi-lights to brighten up and complement the blonde, I came away looking like a brunette. She told me I could come back and she would «fix» it as after 2.5hours at the visit I had to get back to work. I scheduled for the next time she was in which was a week later. Got there and they said oh shes’s not here, she’s sick. No phone call to let me know, I re scheduled for the next time she was to be in, another week later and the day of that appointment got a call saying she hurt her ankle. Wont be in. Rescheduled for the next day and got another call that day, she doesn’t fell well. The salon should have asked if another stylist could help me if Michelle was planning on being so unavailable to fix what she had done. The color alone was $ 200!!! I would never go back!

It’s okay. Has a bit of the cheesy factor going on. Haircut was so/so, but at $ 65 (junior stylist) it was priced high for the quality of work– stylist did not seem very confident and cut was awkward after I washed. I did notice they gave a good blowout though.

After moving back to the east bay and searching for over a year, I finally found my new stylist!
Shayla is amazing and really knows her stuff. I have never left a salon feeling so beautiful (I literally couldn’t stop smiling in the mirror and have not felt this beautiful since my wedding day 7 years ago)!
She really listened to what I wanted, took her time and did an amazing job of making my highlights and low lights look natural.
Shayla was patient blow drying and styling my hair (which is totally frizzy/curly and out of control) and the result was amazing!!! I wish I could go in every week just for her to style my hair.
The salon is beautiful without feeling stuffy and is in a convenient location that is easy to find.
If your looking for someone who really knows hair, uses great products, and is reasonably priced then Shayla at Clark Russell is for you!

Another great cut and color at the Clark Russell salon! The new location is bigger and better than ever. Lots of room, beautiful large windows, and fierce décor.
Clark did something a little different with my cut this time and it is AMAZING! All of his staff are so friendly, especially Gina at the desk. I love knowing I wont have to deal with another bad hair day ever again.

I booked an appointment with Clark for a haircut. When I arrived at the salon, I was disappointed with how small the salon was (very cramped). I brought a photo of the haircut I wanted. Too bad Clark decided to give me a cut he thought I should have rather than what I asked for. He was very nice and friendly, but I am furious that my hair does not look one bit like what I asked for! Not to mention that the cut is a lot shorter than what I wanted, so it will take a while to grow out.

This salon is nice. I would give the it a B– on décor and location. Not as nices as Phoenix salon but nice. Please be warned, this salon is very expensive. I got my hair cut, highlighted (only partial highlights), and my roots touched up by Clark himself, and was shocked to be charged $ 310! Unfortunately, I did not ask the price before I had the services done (my fault). If I had been charged half of that for the services I would return, but $ 300 is too much. I left feeling ripped off, and I would not recommend this place to anyone else.

I moved to Walnut Creek this past August and was forced to venture out and find a salon that would meet the expectations my last salon fulfilled. Clark’s salon did just that and more! I went under-the-scissors for the first time in mid-August and loved the end product. I had a new color and a new cut, and I felt like a new me. I’ve only been there a couple of times so far, but have had wonderful experiences every time. I am so happy that I have found an exceptional salon with exceptional staff who are able to work with what I want and give me what I need!

I had a fantastic first experience at Clark Russell! Clark and Shayla both worked on me, sometimes at the same time, I felt like a rock star! They are both super knowledgeable and talented, and I love the richness of the colors that Clark came up with for me. The thing that impressed me most was their honest assessment of my hair style, they weren’t afraid to tell me that it didn’t represent who I was to my best advantage, and that’s super important to me, especially in my line of work. The salon is very welcoming and comfortable. I can’t wait to go back!

I went in to have extension maintenance. In over 2 months time I had only had one extension fall out. I went to the Clark Russell salon and since I left which has only been about a week and a half almost 15 have fallen out. I would not recommend this salon. The people were nice and the salon was clean but I would not recommend going there for extensions.

A beautiful salon with a wonderful staff. Clark himself did my hair for my wedding and did a fabulous job. He had his cute doggie in the salon wearing juicy couture overalls that were simply adorable. Clark had me in and out of there on time and didn’t mind that I was drinking a cocktail that my friend got me from the bar kitty-corner to the salon while he was styling my tresses.
Overall it was a fantastic experience. If I didn’t live in the city, this would be my go-to salon on the regular.
