$ 22 for a taper, absolute rip off and they used blue thread on pair of black pants. Seams ripped apart after the first wear, had to get it fixed by another tailor and now they fit perfect (way cheaper too). Outrageous, take your money elsewhere.

This place is fantastic! I needed a three layer chiffon dress altered for a wedding and they were able to get me an appointment the day after I called in and finished the alterations in less than a week. Everyone was very friendly and they do quality work. I live about 20 minutes away but will definitely be making the drive in the future. Highly recommended!

Very nice family owned place with very decent prices and no attitude. Joseph worked with me to tailor my wedding dress exactly how I wanted it. I did a lot of searching around before I found him. Other tailors had outrageous prices or a lot of attitude as they sold themselves as «experts,» but Joseph was very honest, funny and laid back. It was a pleasure to work with him.

Excellent, excellent service. I needed a suit and shirt altered a few days before a wedding and Joseph did an A+ job on short notice. Suit and shirt both fit like a glove– I could not be happier. If you need a tailor in the Lamorinda area look no further!

I was looking for a new place to get my jeans hemmed and found this place in Lafayette. Very cool but the hours they are open make it hard for me to pick up my clothes. But the guy who helped me was very nice and they did a great job!

I was referred to Joseph after going to a Concord Bridal store to pick up my daughters dress. The dress arrived late and according to Joseph was at least 2 sizes to big. The bridal store seamstress just wanted to pull up the dress straps and hem to adjust the over sized dress. What she was proposing was clearly terrible and would ruin the look of the dress without correcting the huge bust line (over 4′ were taken in by Joseph) and without bringing in the over sized waist and hips (over 2 ½’ inches needed to be taken in down the back of the dress). Recognizing that this bridal store was not competent to make the alterations, we took the dress to Joseph. The dress was enormous on my small daughter despite the fact that the dress manufacturers sizing would have it fit perfectly at the bust and be a bit small at the hips. Joseph saw us within a day, and within10 minutes we were reassured the dress would be perfect despite the need to remake it by opening almost every seam, removing every button and even the zipper. At our first fitting, the dress fit like a glove and Joseph was still working out the details such as the over sized keyhole top connection that would naturally follow the other dress alterations. Joseph turned what could have been a bridal disaster into the gorgeous gown my daughter ordered and expected. I have nothing to say but Thank You for calming my daughter and remaking her gown so that she could be the bride she envisioned when she chose her dress.

I went in the day before Easter, 30 minutes before closing, asking for my pants to be altered and ready for pick up by closing. She stoped what she was doing to help me and had them ready before she closed!!! Sooo appretiated!

I brought my wedding dress here for alterations both in design and size. Joseph was such a pleasure to work with! He is not only the nicest guy but a fabulous tailor. We did not discuss the price beforehand, and I was pleasantly surprised with the amount when we were done. He even gave me a free garment bag since I didn’t have one. Highly recommend!

Super friendly and attentive service! I took my suit pants on for alterations about 5 days before flying to the other side of the world for my wedding. Joseph seems to really care about his business and does good work! Joseph let out the waist on my suit pants to fit to perfection. In fact, it made me realize how uncomfortably tight my other suit pants were, since I had never had them tailored.
I will be bringing back my other two suits and several dress pants to get them fit properly, and using his services for my dry cleaning. His prices seem on par with other tailors in the area.

Working with Joseph at Creative Alterations is wonderful! I’ve had shirts altered last minute and I’ve never heard «no» in fact, they usually deliver before my urgent deadlines (I’m talking less than 24 hours)!
Not to mention Joseph is guaranteed to make you laugh and put you at ease.

I had my wedding dress altered here by Joseph. One of my bridesmaids had her dress altered as well.
The folks over at Creative Alterations are super nice. Joseph was great to work with and I trusted that his alterations would look awesome. For the most part, his work did look great. The dress was molded to my body and looked perfect from the front. I do have to take one star off for the back. I asked for a bustle so that I could dance without holding my dress. Joseph did create a lovely waterfall bustle but it was too long. My dress dragged on the ground even when bustled. I had to keep lifting it all night which was a huge pain.
I also have to take one star off for the price. His final total for the work was 150 bucks more than the price that any other tailor quoted. I almost passed out when he told me the amount. I would recommend Creative Alterations but only if you have deep pockets.

I needed some alterations done on a bridesmaid dress so I did some Unilocal research and decided to come here. The few negative reviews seemed to be regarding men’s clothing and all of the positive ones regarding dresses so I figured I was in good hands.
The place is really nice inside with wood floors and dressing areas that give you room to move around a bit. Joseph was really thorough and took his time making sure I was comfortable. He also asked if the wedding was indoors or outside to decide an appropriate length. He used this chalk thing and had me turn around so he could mark each part of the dress which I had never had done before. Usually they just mark one spot and take that amount of inches off everywhere but actually, now that I think about it it makes much more sense to mark all the way around because my butt will make the dress different lengths in different places.
So I felt really good about the fitting. I asked him how much it would cost and he gave me a price which seemed like a lot but when I consider how much I actually had done (bust taken in, shoulder strap tightened, two layer hem) it wasn’t too bad.
Also, I mentioned the 10% off alterations they had on the website and he took 10% off no problem. I came in about ten days later to pick up my dress and tried it on at home and it fits perfectly, the strap is perfect, the length is perfect, and I feel great in it. Can’t wait for the wedding!
*I did take off one star because of the pricing. I had asked how much it would cost to get some jeans tapered and it was more than I’m willing to pay and more than I have paid in the past. Also, since something like that is so simple and hard to screw up, I’ll probably just take my jeans to my dry cleaners.

After a terrible experience with a sub-​par bridal shop, (see my review on J’taime bridal). I took a far-​too-​big bridesmaid dress in to Josef. I am currently about 9 months pregnant, and really wanted the dress to show that I was pregnant, and not just fat. He really listened to what i wanted for the end result, and explained exactly how he would have to make it happen. We needed to have 2 appointments, the first to fix all of the extra fabric, and then once that was done, the next appointment would be to correct the hem.
Everything was completed on the day it was promised, and his work was terrific. He and the other lady in the shop were also extremely nice and very patient with the fact that I had to bring my 2 year old son with me during one of the appointments. They played with him and even offered him a snack.
I did end up paying a lot for his services, however given the amount of work needed to save this bridesmaid dress (he had to take it in over 6 inches, and basically reconstruct the skirt) I felt it was well worth the money, time, and effort.
I can’t say enough great things about Josef and team, this is one satisfied customer!

This is an update to an earlier review. They did a fantastic job on both the jeans alterations as well as the dry cleaning. When I asked for the 10% Unilocal first time customer discount, however, the young gal wasn’t aware of it and couldn’t find Josef to confirm it, though she did honor it eventually. I will be back.

Josef is a tailoring GENIUS. He did a fantastic job on my wedding dress– he paid such meticulous attention to detail. He was always willing to listen to my concerns/​requests, which made me feel like I was in good hands. He also took care of altering my 2 bridesmaids’ dresses in a mere 4 days’ time. All of this work wasn’t dirt cheap, but it didn’t bankrupt me, either. As far as gown alterations go, I’d say he is definitely worth the money and the trip out to Lafayette.

Went in to get my Maid of Honor dress altered. They greeted me nicely, helped me get the right adjustments made, followed my request to make sure the dress didn’t drag.
They told me they could have it altered and ready in 11 days… wow that was fast! Other places quoted me 1 – 2 months.
Also they quoted total alterations to be less than $ 50, and the day I picked up the dress the total bill was only $ 44.
All i can say is great place for great alterations at a great price!!!

Got my wedding gown worked on here, and I was very satisfied with the results, yay! (Had about 3 or 4 total appointments – which I guess is customary with gown adjustments.)
Joseph and his team are very organized and polite. The shop is clean, and well set-​up to handle working on and fitting gowns. Joseph also has like 30+ years with wedding gowns (I asked him).
We’ve also had pants and other items tailored here. Dry cleaning services too. Always good results.
