Description

Specialties

Elite, personalized instruction from the former Examinations Director for the State Bar CA and Bar Exam specialist at Santa Clara University School of Law, who has graded over 20,000 «live» bar exam answers.

Essays & Performance Tests comprise two-thirds of your total Bar Exam grade. You will learn and practice the eight principal types of essay and performance test questions on the California Bar Exam. All of your writing will receive detailed written analyses that include individualized homework to make you a better and more «Bar-Savvy» writer.

Success on the Multistate Bar Examination is not only critical in itself, but can elevate your essay grades on MBE subjects. You will receive instruction on both preparation for and performance on the MBE.

Five hours are devoted to individual tutoring by phone, Skype or in person. We will go beyond the «one-size-fits-all» instruction offered by conventional Bar Prep programs to arrive at unique preparation approaches tailored to your specific needs and learning style, and «exam-day» preparation to make you more poised and confident from your first essay to your last PT.

To ensure timely and completely personalized instruction, student enrollment is limited to seven «package» students per examination cycle. This means you will receive «24−7» e-mail access with same day response, two-day (or less) written homework analyses and prompt and convenient access to telephone or face-to-face individual tutoring and mentoring.

History

Established in 2009.

From ’78 to ’88 I did just about every job that a grader can do for the Committee of Bar Examiners. I graded every bar examination and every First-Year Law Students’ («Baby Bar») Exam: 40 exams and at least 20,000 essay and performance test answers. I wrote essay questions, pretested questions, and helped to develop performance tests.

In 1988 I became a member of the California Committee to Bar Examiners. There, I sat on the Examinations and Operations subcommittees, developed accommodation standards for disabled applicants and heard the appeals of many applicants who’d been unsuccessful.

In 1992 I became the first former exam grader to become the State Bar of California Director for Examinations. I was in charge of essay and performance test question development; the grading of each exam by teams of graders; and the consideration of all unsuccessful applicant appeals of their failing results.

I have helped hundreds of applicants, many of them repeaters, succeed on the exam.
