My car got towed after parking overnight on a public street and after one week they charged me nearly $ 450 and they only accepted cash. They added all sorts of ridiculous fees. Im a college student and having to pay for insurance and normal fees on the car is already expensive enough. The workers were rude and inconsiderate. My vehicle at the time had a temporary license, and it so unfortunately expired while on the lot. I was also unlucky because my wallet and papers necessary for getting another temporary license were in my car. I explained to them the situation and were incredibly unsympathetic. The lady continuously iterated that «You can only take your papers, but not your wallet or cash!» I was very busy with classes and work so I couldnt make it to the DMV on time on my bike, and there was a holiday on the Friday I intended to go. Its ridiculous rules like these that make people’s lives that much more difficult. As if taking my car and restricting access to my wallet and charging ridiculous fees and accepting cash only wasnt enough to establish themselves as a terrible business, you’d hope that the employees would be less offended all the time. Its as if every sentence they said was to defend themselves from me harassing them, when I literally just walked in. Its a «I dont want to hear it, give us your money» type of business here. No one really wants to be held accountable for anything, and they compensate for their lack of reputation by using expensive fees to make a killing off the calls they get from the West Lafayette Police. Mercy onto the poor people forced to end up at this absolute shithole.

I was traveling from Chicago to Louisville when I caught a flat tire in Lafayette. Had to go through my car insurance and wait for a tow truck. All I will say is that John O. not only had me laughing and was so light hearted, but he also persuaded a local tire shop to stay open LATE to fix my flat!!! I was nearly crying angry tears, but after 1.5 hours, I was back on the road. I was super pleasantly surprised by this entire interaction.

When I called about locking my keys in the car the dispatcher hung up on me.$ 74 to unlock the car.$ 39 plus $ 3 a mile. Rude driver, rude office help. Avoid using this Local company unless no one else will answer your call. read the other reviews, no chance of getting any good business awards. The driver told me that he didn’t make the prices and said his GPS said exactly 13 miles from the shop. I didn’t ask for a tow truck to bring the 2 lb device use to unlock the door. A local business that takes advantage.

These people do not know the concept of good business. As I read the reviews about how poor they are, this is right in line with those. I do not recommend using them

The office staff was rude, vulgar & denied me the right to a copy of my paperwork with my personal information on it & signature! The only info of theirs on the document was their name, address, phone & fax number! They hadn’t even signed it yet! I’m a person that likes to keep hard copies of documents in case they get lost on the Internet or don’t get sent at all! They refused to let me back to MY vehicle that is fully paid for & MY legal property! Let alone my possessions, license plate & registration… ALL of which I’ve paid for! That’s legally considered theft or stealing!
My biggest complaint was the bleached blond woman in the office who decided I was being uncooperative & told me that our discussion was over & to leave their property or they’d call the cops! Mind you they had possession of my property on their locked lot! When I wouldn’t back down & told her to call the police cause I wanted to report them stealing my property she became hostile & called for some big burly guy to help escort me off the premises! Stating they have the right to deny service to anyone that they feel is a threat! I had my 12 yr old son with me & I’m 5’2″ tall weighing 125lbs! She out weighed me by at least 50+ pounds & had a few inches on me at that!
This is NOT how you treat customers or people in general! I will say the big burly guy was polite but I’m sure he’s probably sick of her immature, unprofessional ways of running a business! I don’t know how they are even still in business with this crude & vulgar service & stealing of people’s belongings! Don’t EVER call on Jim’s garage for ANYTHING! You will just be verbally abused & stolen from! I’ve never in my life been treated so poorly just for asking for a copy of a document I needed for insurance purposes! I feel they are identity thieves & don’t want the customers to know that they are stealing their information & identities! What other reason could there possibly be to deny me a document with only my personal information & signature on it! They never did sign it on the witness line stating they’d attested that the information & signature indeed belonged to me! I advise everyone to take their business to a more reputable & legitimate establishment that’s upfront & considerate of those trying to protect their own best interests in not getting scammed or identity stolen!
Not to mention she scared my 12 yr old son & he was afraid to even be there at all now! Hope this saves some other consumers from the incompetent unprofessional service that is Jim’s garage! Best of luck to those that get stuck dealing with this establishment! Cause you are going to need it!

Over all, I’d have to sayJim’s Garage and the tow truck driver, Jason did a great job picking up our car. He’s a hard worker, had a really nice customer service approach and positive attitude. He took a lot of care loading our car to take it across town for repairs. It’s an old car, but in nice condition and he treated it as if it were new.
While it took them a little longer than expected to pick up our car, their workload was obviously heavy, so I was quite pleased when he arrived and went right to work. He was going to be facing a long night due to an incoming snow storm, yet more than happy to work with us.
Once we got to the repair shop, he took the time to make sure the car could be offloaded in a spot that was good for them too.
I’m glad Jim’s Garage came highly recommended to us. We had a very pleasant experience. Thanks to Jason!

This isn’t so much about the service provided by the garage as it is about how their tow trucks drive. Reckless and swerving, not using a signal, tailgating on the highway going 80 mph. If this guy was towing my car, he’d do more damage than good. These guys need to check their safe driving manual.

The car was towed to the garage after an accident:
Towing charge: $ 85
Mileage =10 miles: $ 30
labor: $ 30
Dollies and storage: $ 30
Winch: $ 75
Grand Total was $ 290
If only my encounter with them would have been for something other than an accident I would have went elsewhere.

Avoid this place for towing at all cost! To summarize, total jerks on the phone, effectively hung up on me twice, lied to AAA, not familiar with how AAA works, took 3 hours to arrive. So bad!
These guys were assigned to me by AAA when I called for a tow. I was purchasing a car that was not operable and was having it towed to another garage for repair. Jim’s called to ask some particulars. After many calls back and forth over about an hour Jim’s said they would not tow the car and I would have to ask AAA for another tow since I didn’t own the car. I told them that I did now own the car and it didn’t matter since AAA service follows the member not the car. Anyway, AAA called me then asking about the car. Apparently, Jim’s told them not only did I not own the car but that I didn’t have a key to it. All of which was not true. Totally crazy! All of these shenanigans led to a time of over 3 hours to get the car towed. These guys are bad news.

So I can’t speak for their automotive repair but I had a car towed from Clark’s Hill to Lafayette. The tow driver was here within an hour, total charge of $ 100. Service was fast, and the representative on the phone was fast, fairly friendly, and efficient. ⁴⁄₅

AVOID THIS PLACE. John, Jim’s Garage’s driver was over an hour late. He put my truck on a flatbed, then ran 65 miles an hour down a gravel road. Instead of slowing down after he kept losing control of his truck, which had my truck on board, he kept swerving all over the road. In fact John lost control of his flatbed one time, and while the truck was going into the ditch, the side of my truck side swiped a tree. Jim’s Garage hasn’t gotten around to calling me back about covering the cost of repairs to my truck, or to apologize about their driver’s actions

I was greatly disappointed in their service. I had a flat tire on a sunny day in the city. It took them 2 hours to get to me. I was probably less than two miles from their base. The driver could not change the tire. After another hour, a second driver arrived and tried to use two floor jacks that did not work. Finally, they used my jack and changed the tire. This process took over 3 hours in the middle of the day on a sunny fall day. There wasn’t ice and snow and accidents everywhere. I have now idea what the excuse for bad service really was. My husband could have been there in 15 minutes and changed the tire immediately. Since we paid for road service insurance, I didn’t want him to have to leave his work to do that. My vehicle is fairly new. The lug nuts were not damaged or rusty. My jack had probably never been used. I would not call them again. This is sad, because we have used their services in the past and they did great.
