Lily is an artist dedicated to seeing beauty and creating glamour at weddings. Through her artistic eyes, she see the awesome in the mundane, and bring out the inner model in every couple she photographs. Lily has an easy way about her, and will effortlessly connect with everyone no matter their age. Lily also speaks Mandarin.

A couture wedding gown designer for 12 years, Lily understands fashion as well as how to compose her subjects so they don’t look posed. Because of her past as a designer, Lily’s outlook at a wedding is to make the bride and groom her models as in a magazine editorial shoot and create images that are worthy as works of art in a gallery.

Lily’s favorite moment is when she can feel her clients trusts her so much, they let down their guards and invite her into their inner realm, allowing Lily to capture the ease they feel, and show their soul.

History

Established in 2010.

With an artist father and a dressmaker mother, Lily started her bridal gown design business after getting her Bachelor’s in Fine Arts. She has always delighted in making beautiful three dimensional things, but when she decided to move forward after 12 yrs in gown design, she discovered photography, a medium in which she can express her vision two dimensionally.

No matter who or what she is photographing, it exists in reality one way, but exists through her lens imbued with creativity.

Now Lily has made full circle, she photographs brides’ elation on their special day, where she once made them elated by dressing them to express their core.

No matter which angle you view Lily, she has been an artistic soul all her life. From winning art contests at age 5 to hand making 80 ceramic bowls for her wedding favors to getting accepted to Project Runway, Lily can’t help herself but exude the creativeness she feels inside.

Now in her early 40’s, Lily has had enough life experience to bring everything together to her photography business, in a way that serves her clients best. Having owned her own bridal studio for 12 yrs, she knows how to deliver what her clients want, whether it’s wedding portraits, Transformative headshots for business owners, or family portraits.

Lily gets comments from strangers like «You LOOK artistic’. I guess one just can’t hide themselves, even when it’s on the inside!

My wife and I loved Lily’s works and considered them are truly magnificent, and we really glad she was our photographer for the photo session we have chosen. Although the poses we did during the photo shoot didn’t appear any special to us at first, but the end-​products Lily was able to produced greatly surprised us. In another words, picture we thought that was being taken will be like «meh», but then when it showed up on the big screen (absolutely without any edit), it suddenly turns into «WoW». More importantly, we know Lily take pride in her works, because she went the extra mile and edit our pictures through late night until she thinks they are «perfect», and we appreciated her dedication as a photographer for her clients. Lily does awesome work! I liked how she took control with our big group and captured great pictures at my son’s first birthday party. Also it was very nice to receive the pictures so fast. I am very happy that she was there otherwise I probably wouldn’t have been in a lot of pictures or taken very many and would not have this nice group picture (that I love) with all of us in it. Lily is a must have at any event that is special to you!

My wife and I live in Atlanta. We were visiting San Fran/​Napa area for an anniversary trip. We were eating the «must have Garlic Dungeness Crab» when my wife stated she wished we had a photographer to take a couple of photos of us on this trip. Did I think we could book one last second. Our flight out was that night. «No Freaking Way»
We noticed the table next to us was a lady with a LILY DONG PHOTOGRAPHY t-​shirt on. So my wife quickly searched her site and approved of the photos. We waited until they were getting the check. We stated we were hoping to have a photographer take our photo.
She was so gracious to help us out with a quick shoot at Golden Gate Park. It was truly serendipitous to have met Lily this way. We were extremely pleased with her professionalism, care-​free, and fun loving attitude to a random strangers very impromptu request. Thank you.

I needed a picture of myself for my new website. I wanted a image that conveys friendly, casual, feeling. Lily was perfect for that! It was really fun experience being in front of her and her camera. She directed me to do something, but not really posing. I cannot remember what it was, but she kept making me laugh. It was just relaxing, fun session. And images are wow! I love what she captured from me. My website has been up for 6 month, and I get complements about my portrait all the time.

Lily did our engagement photo session and also our wedding last month. I had already heard wonderful things about her, and we were so excited to get her to work with us for our wedding!
For our engagement, «get to know us» session, we did a casual, romantic stroll through Downtown Danville, and it’s weekend farmer’s market. I’m not terribly photogenic and Lily was awesome at getting us both to relax and get in the moment. She also let me know that it’s ok not to always have a big, forced, toothy grin which is not my style, and she showed me how to express my «quiet joy». The pictures were really cute, adorable and we even got a couple solo shots as well!
Lily showed up early on our wedding day to get familiar with the country club we were at and get acquainted with our wedding party and families. There were some adjustments that needed to be made in our schedule and Lily did her very best to roll with things and got shots of us, and of family, wedding party whenever she had the chance. She even stayed late to grab some more shots of just my husband and myself in more artistic, solo shots. She did it all: romantic moments with me and my husband, family and guest pictures, and also fun, goofy moments with our wedding party.
I was so excited to see the finished images… Lily really is gifted with an eye for bringing out the feeling of a moment and so many of the shots she captured just brought back all the emotions of the day for us! We love Lily and her work and can’t wait for her to photograph more celebrations for us in the future! (My professional headshots are next!)

I don’t write a lot of reviews, unless I have an exceptionally good (or bad) experience with a business.
Lily was our wedding photographer. She is phenomenal.
1. First and foremost, Lily is an artist. Each photo is carefully composed. She has an amazing ability to capture movement and people’s emotions because she doesn’t miss a beat! I noticed on her site that she used to be a wedding dress designer. She really understands how I want to feel as a bride. Some of the photos really captured my best self. She created some gorgeous shots of the dress, the shoes, and jewelry.
2. Lily provides excellent customer service. From the moment we hired her, she was fast and responsive to all of my inquiries. I am extremely camera shy. She gave me a pep talk on the phone and gave me a lot of reassurance and support. After the wedding, we received all of the beautiful high-​resolution photos, plus a cool video of the best photos in a little more than a day later.
3. Her professionalism surpasses all of my other vendors. Before coming to my house for the ‘getting ready’ session, she dropped by the venue and toured around the place in the early morning. She showed up at my house right on time and began preparing and ‘designing’ her shots. Within an hour and a half, Lily got some very artsy shots of me, some gorgeous photos of my maid of honor, and all the girls. For someone who is extremely camera shy, I am still shocked at how well they turned out. I felt at ease with her.
At the reception, Lily worked practically non-​stop. Like I said, she just doesn’t miss a beat. She captured all the joyous, emotional, silly, and funny moments that we all love in weddings.
Three weeks after the event, some of my family and friends, have been commenting on how exceptionally professional and generous Lily was. My sister shared with me how amazed she was that everywhere she looked, there was Lily and her camera, clicking away throughout the day and evening.
4. All in all, Lily over delivers — 110%. She is artistic, creative, talented, detailed and very generous. Lily is one of the best investments made for our wedding.

Lily is such a great photographer!
We scheduled her to take some outdoor wedding pics for us on 3⁄30 and the weather forecast said it was going to rain, so I pushed half of the shooting to Friday. Lily had plan with her family already and had to adjust her mind and time for me. I really appreciate her for doing that for us.
We finally met her on Friday, 3/​29, at Palace of Fine Art, and she was professional, friendly, and very good at posing us and catch good moments for us.
We met again on Sat in Stanford. Since Lily started knowing us better and she was more creative and more romantic moments on the pics.
I was really happy about those pics and she did great job. It was a big day for us, and I really wants to look good on pics. And all the pics that Lily took turn out to be good (Well, the ones she shared with us. I am sure we have ugly ones in her camera. ;))
Both us were happy about the pics and the whole experience with Lily. Everyone who saw the pics liked them very much.

I did a photo shoot on Moss Beach with Lily last year and it was amazing. We picked a spot on the beach by the water and she took photos against the setting sun, which created a beautiful backdrop for the pictures. I really enjoyed being able to move freely and naturally during the photo shoot so I didn’t really have to pose or stage any shots.
I ended up ordering a group photo that we took of a me and two of my friends. There were a variety of options for mounting the photo and what type of finish to put on the picture. Lily has an amazing eye for style and quality, so it was really nice to get her opinion on how to get the most out of the framing. I also ordered Christmas ornaments and definitely recommend those for gifts for family and friends. The pricing is competitive and very affordable, not to mention that she gives discounts to repeat customers and referrals! :-)

We hired Lily last weekend to take photos of our family at home. It went extremely well and we now have many fantastic images that will be cherished forever.
Lily arrived on time and was energetic and ready to start. She was able to look around our home and pick out particular spots that may seem ordinary to us and turn them into artistic backdrops for our photos. Lily is a mother herself, so getting my two young kids to smile/​laugh/​connect with her came natural for her. She knows when to be loud and animated, and when to be discrete in order to catch those tender moments. We were able to get some wonderful images of my son who has autism and is unpredictable. Another plus for us is that she is fluent in Mandarin, so communicating with my visiting parents was easy too.

We hired Lily in May to take our family photos. I had previously seen Lily’s work in another project and was impressed with her ability to capture those special yet fleeting moments. At the time I had not planned on getting family photos taken, but seeing her work made me want to do it. I wanted candid photos that were dynamic, interesting, and taken in the outdoors. Lily was perfect for the job. She was knowledgeable and helpful in finding a location that we liked, and she was flexible with the time and date. We have two very active kids who were always difficult to take photos of; Lily was extremely patient and clever in getting them to do the things that would produce excellent photos. She even produced some really wonderful and natural photos of my husband who normally reacts to a camera with a «here are my teeth» grin.
Lily is also warm, friendly and personable. I felt really comfortable interacting with her and enjoyed her company during the shoot. After it was done she did a great job with post-​production (to make sure every photo is at its best) and gave me the CD days before I expected her to. I’m very happy that I found Lily to be our family photographer and strongly recommends her.
