It was ok. Nice place. Clean and good feel to it. Had the Mango Shrimp. Shrimp a bit tough from being undercooked and lacked any real flavor. Not and oyster eater so can’t comment on that which appears to be their specialty.

My wife and I enjoyed the Parkside Seafood House. We enjoyed shrimp cocktail, fried scallops, salad, steak, scallops, and lovely desserts. Everything was cooked to perfection. The most delicious seafood in the lafayette area.

Enjoyable dinner with delicious food and great service. Pricey for most college students. There is a main menu then a small list of market oysters imported from Chicago. The shrimp cocktail and apple butter were good. The lobster Alfredo entrée looked small but was very filling.

If you are an Oyster lover this may be the place for you, but if you aren’t beware. I have currently tried the Parkside shrimp cocktail(some of the best I’ve ever had), the lobster sandwich(a dry sandwich with way too much bread to lobster ratio), the Grouper(one of my favorite fish and one of the least flavorful I have tasted), the Hogfish(which reviewed online to be good with perfect preparation fell short of expectations here), and the crème brûlée(which being one of my favorite desserts fell short when I received it very overly torched. I have now been here three times dining with 2 – 4 people. This is one of the first self proclaimed fine dining establishments I’ve dined at that received at least one complaint/disappointment per diner per meal. At the price per meal here I would expect 90%+ satisfaction and have experienced 50% give or take… With that being said I would call it a fine dining priced hit or miss establishment. It does have an extensive wine list with a popular craft beer bottle selection, but if that is what you are looking for there are still better options in the area if you ask my opinion.

Great local place for seafood. Third time we have been here. Started with sharing peel and eat shrimp, then entrees of diver scallops with roasted asparagus(succulent, with a light sauce) and a unique Florida hogfish with Cajun seasonings. Had a wonderful but pricey unoaked Chardonnay. When waitress discovered it happened to be my husband’s birthday she offered a complementary dessert. We chose key lime pie and it was very good. Waitstaff always attentive and friendly.

This was our first visit, and we enjoyed it completely. I’m not a seafood expert, but I can say that the seafood here is great, well prepared, and meaty. We went early so we were able to take advantage of the oyster special, half price from 5 – 6 pm. Which is a good thing considering you would otherwise pay $ 2-$ 3 per oyster. Yes, that’s right. The oysters have their own little menu depending on what’s available. The server was very informative in helping us choose oysters for our appetizer. I had the Hawaiian Mahi that came glazed in a wonderful citrus sauce, served on a green chile sauce that was a bit hot for. me. But the mahi was tender and delicious. One of my companions had king crab and raved about the taste. The peel-n-eat shrimp was also very fresh and full of flavor. No sides come with your entrée, not even potato or rice. You can get a soup or salad at extra cost. Entrée prices range from $ 20 – 30. Be prepared to spend some money, but you will get fresh(as fresh as it gets in Indiana) seafood that is well prepared. I strongly suggest you make a reservation on the weekend, or even during the dinner rush on weekdays. Seating is VERY limited. We arrived before 6:00 p.m. on a Tuesday and were seated promptly. I have a hunch that is not always the case.

Booked on open table. Used to be the park side deli years ago. Started with oysters, which were fresh and delicious. Clam chowder was amazing with real clams. The bread and butter were even delicious. Sea bass was great with grits and corn coulis. Will definitely come back. It really is the freshest seafood in town.

Oysters alone are worth the star rating. We tried four different ones and all were great. As good(or somehow even better) than at most big city restaurants out east(And half price on Wednesdays). The House chili sauce for the oysters was very nice. Clam chowder was superb. We had the sea bass and Ahi tuna. Both were well prepared. Not a huge fan of the exceptionally creamy risotto under the Ahi. Sea bass was perfect. Wine prices were not bad. Our server was new, but not terrible. I really enjoyed the white walls and black floors. Felt very New Englandy. Overall, this is EASILY the best seafood restaurant in town. I will be going back, hopefully soon.

Had a fun time picking out what type of oysters to get! The oysters were delicious and the entrée’s were tasty as well. We sat outside on the patio and it was a great atmosphere and not at all like a lafayette feel. The only negatives were the price is high and there was a faint smell of garbage out on the patio. Great seafood, especially for Lafayette, Indiana!

Fantastic little hidden gem! Oysters were fresh and good. Great wine and beer list. Décor was wonderful. Service was personal and professional. Lobster roll was good not great but the clam chowder was awesome. Next time I’m in Lafayette, I’m going here

Best seafood in Lafayette. I really respect what they’ve done to the location. Food was mostly good– fresh oysters were fantastic, and my Mong Chong(fish) was excellent. My wife’s salmon was a bit over cooked. Service meant well and tried hard but wasn’t very knowledgeable on either the wine menu or how service works in a nicer place. I really want this place to succeed. It’s a fantastic change for our city and a great concept.

I am so happy that Parkside is here in Lafayette. I am a seafood lover, but have obviously not always had access to the freshest seafood seeing I’m in the Midwest. Parkside has definitely changed that! Had the shrimp cocktail as my appetizer, and the cocktail sauce was superb! I like mine with more than the average amount of horseradish. The mushroom shrimp soup was unbelievable! It had excellent flavor. The Scottish salmon was my entrée and it was delish as everything prior. I actually liked my boyfriend’s mac and cheese lobster even more though! The portions are perfect! I left not feeling miserably full, but I wasn’t hungry still either. Finished the meal with Crème Brûlée, my favorite dessert, and it was the best I’ve ever had! Parkside is my new favorite place for date night/special occasions. Can’t wait to try the oysters next time!

Parkside is one of the few culinary gems remaining in this area. I have lived in Florida and California so I know how fresh seafood is suppose to taste and believe me, the food here will make you think you’re next to the ocean. In addition to the delicious food the service is great and the ambience is phenomenal. Based on my last visit reservations are recommended.
Very sorry to ruin the ratings. The chef worth a 4 or 4.5 stars rating, they overprices but acceptable; but. their fishes are not fresh at all. Caesar salad is pretty good, it contains dried fish inside! Their bread is at average, but its butter is so great. I ordered swordfish which recommended by a waitress. The fish’s sauce is brilliant and the sides are great as well, but the piece of fish has a weird smell. I’d agree that they cook the best fish in the town but be prepared to get something not that fresh. We tried crème brûlée at the very end, and it was so good. It must be the best crème brûlée in the town. Some advice if you plan to dine here: 1. try some common fish(tuna/salmon), they stay fresh longer 2. do not try the uncooked food there. 3. If you are not brave enough, stay with appetizer and dessert. 。额。。amen

i have had dinner at Parkside 3 times in the last 4 months. Parkside is a wonderful addition to the restaurants in the Lafayette area. There are not enough restaurants that(a) change their menu on a regular basis and(b) serve good seafood. Among the dinner items, the scallops were my favorites so far. Juicy scallops with wonderful flavors from the sauces and ratatouille. The lobster risotto was nice and had a good amount of lobster, but too heavy for me. The grouper was okay, Other items I liked: the beet salad(great), the oysters. and the soups. They don’t have many deserts, but the crème brûlée was very good(only desert I have tried). How can they improve? Have an actual vegetarian main course. I would have come a 4th time, but no vegetarian main dish brought a veto. DOSOMETHING about the cold air coming in when the door is opened! Lafayette is not in California! It will reduce your business 6 months of the year.

The tl;dr version: I get that they’re trucking fresh seafood in – and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the fresh oysters — but for this kind of money in this kind of town, Parkside should aim higher than microwaving warm food. The long version: We’ve been to Parkside twice now. My wife and I went a few weeks ago for«date night» early on a Saturday and did the same again just last night, which was later on a Friday. The first time we went was good enough to go back. The ambiance is certainly unique for Lafayette, the beer and wine selection is solid and the fresh oysters exceeded all my expectations. We dropped about a hundred bucks that night and had a selection of oysters, the clam chowder(really good) and two entrees. I went with the Lobster Roll and my wife had one of their rotating menu items… basically salmon with an asian twist. She thought it was good and I thought the presentation and sauce were top-notch. The lobster roll didn’t particularly wow me, but admittedly — I don’t have a ton of experience eating lobster rolls. It was creamy and the bread was good, but I expected another dimension of flavor. Citrus, onion … something. It was sweet and creamy and nice, but it’s kinda sad when the side dish steals the show.(The chips were amazing!) So we had a babysitter again last night and not much of a plan, but I was in the mood for oysters. So I called and they had an open table in 15 minutes. That table though, was by a drafty front window. «This building has a lot of charm,» said the waitress, «but the windows do let some cold air in.» And I get it get it – older building, 20-ish degrees outside, but it was so bad that my wife eventually moved her chair opposite the window and ate dinner with a jacket over her legs. Hopefully they have plans to remedy this issue. We again ordered oysters(from an impressive list, I might add… 6 or 7 different varieties) and they were just as good as the first time. I must add here that the smoked chili mignonette is spectacular. For the main course, this time I ordered the Tournedos of Beef. The presentation was nice and the flavors were great — but the steak was slightly overcooked.(I asked for medium rare… one of the medallions was close, but the other was well on its way to medium well.) All in all, the dish was tasty and worth the price. My wife’s Fruita Del Mar(a collection of mussels, clams, shrimp and a small amount of lobster over«lobster scented» risotto) was another story. The flavors were great, but the food came out barely warm. She hates sending food back, but you don’t pay 25 bucks a plate for warm food. So I flagged down a waitress, who was very apologetic, and she said — «We’ll bring you out a new one right away.» We waited a few minutes(long enough for me to finish the beef) and out came a plate. The food was hot — but it was the same food. They nuked it. Quality seafood, right out of the microwave. Not impressive. On my way out I politely told the girl at the front what had happened and she too was apologetic… but offered little. «She came back and told us to warm it up.» was all she could come up with. Really not impressive. For an $ 80 ticket + tip, the experience really rubbed us the wrong way. I suppose that if the waitress hadn’t specifically said that we’d getting a new plate it might not be such a big deal, but at this point we’re not rushing to go back.

Came here for dinner three days ago to try for some oyster, can’t made it due impatient for waiting an hour. So made a reservation for today(yes I am writing it now while tasting their crème brûlée, that tasty that I can’t wait to give a review). Ordered 24 oyster, please do not judge, for 2 and I have tasted Blue Island before in Miami but not the Wianno oyster and they are absolutely fresh! Sorry for using ! But I am in Lafayette, IN and to find these kind of freshness is hard. The clam chowder is solid, and cheap too but not the kind that will rock my tongue. Entrée: ordered the salmon and lobster roll. It is good, good and good! Hands down, this place is the Lafayette’s best seafood restaurant. Dessert: eating the crème brûlée and it is awesome, not that sweet, which is important because I tried in a lot of restaurant and they fail to keep that level moderate. Highly recommended!

I heard about Parkside from a few coworkers. I made reservations for 7:30, my wife and I were sat right away. I started with the shrimp cocktail, right on par with the«famous» St. Elmo’s. IMO it had better flavor. Next up was the seafood gumbo, I was hoping for a little more spice or flavor. My entrée was the Hoppin John Cajun Redfish. It held up to the Cajun part. Great flavor and came with two pieces of fish! My wife had the Scottish Salmon. She enjoyed most of it but mentioned it was just slightly undercooked for her taste in the middle. Overall I was happy, left with a stuffed belly. Next time I plan to try the stone crab and peel and eat shrimp meal. Make reservations, very small place. Fills up fast! My wife and I were in and out in less than an hour.
