Spa at the Park

I don’t usually spend this much on a facial or massage, but it’s been a long time since I’ve treated myself and my mental health needed it. It started off nicely, the changing room is small but didn’t feel too cramped as I was the only one there. The facial was nice. Then the massage, which was what I was really looking forward to, was a complete let down. My massage therapist name was Joanne, and unfortunately I just don’t think massage therapy is her calling. She had a lot of nervous energy and kept talking and I could feel my relaxation slip away even before she got started. I assumed she would at least be better during the massage. No, she talked so much (asking me about my job, due date — everything I didn’t want to think about during this very expensive 50 minutes I had tried to carve out for myself) that I had to ask her not once, but twice to please stop asking me questions and tell her I was having a hard time relaxing with the talking. Her technique was also way below par, absolutely not what you would expect at «spa.» She used a ton of oil so it was hard to feel much of anything and when I asked for more pressure (which is rare, usually I ask for less), nothing changed. She bent one of my legs back and I told her it was uncomfortable to my lower back and then she went and did the exact same thing to my other leg, apologizing when I pushed my leg back and saying «oh, sorry, it’s just part of my routine and I forgot.» Almost nothing about the massage felt good and I was much less relaxed when I left than when I walked in. I was hoping to find a spa where I could start treating myself on a regular basis, but since this is the level of people they are willing to hire and charge what they do, there is no way I will go back.

I have gotten both massages and facials at the Spa at the Park multiple times. All my treatments have been great. Because of the actual treatments, I continue to return. However, the actual facilities are not the best I’ve seen. The locker room is tiny and cramped, and there is no sauna or steam room. You do have access to the pool (which is a beautiful outdoor area), and the food is excellent. The relaxation room is a nice waiting area, but again, is pretty small and cramped. I’ve been in there with at least 3 other people at the same time, and you are basically sharing cushions on the sofa.
Overall, it is a pleasant experience with great treatments. But, if you are looking for a full «spa» experience, this might not be the place to go.

After a really grueling week I wanted a relaxing couple of hours at the spa. The facility is tiny. The women’s dressing room consists of a few lockers, one shower, and two toilets. The relaxation room is very small and despite the trickle of the fountain, the deafening din of the freeway made it uncomfortable to sit outside on one of the two lounge chairs. My 50-​minute massage was good, not great. The masseuse suggested that I sit in the hot tub for a few minutes but when I was escorted outside, ten kids were frolicking in the hot tub and the pool area was filled with vacationers. I love kids, but I really craved quiet, personal down time. The Park Spa does not live up to its advertisements about relaxation. It really needs a hot tub, steam room, and sauna inside the spa itself for it to offer a true spa experience.

I got a gift card from my husband for my birthday. I Love going to spa’s and I have been to many really nice spas. I was surprised that I had never heard of this spa despite living so close by. My husband said he got me a gift card here because he read that it was voted one of the best in Northern California.
First off, I will say this is not a destination spa. If you are nearby or staying in the hotel then yes this place might be worthwhile.
The spa itself is super tiny. There were 3 girls in the ladies changing room and we were bumping into each other. It was awkward. I had to place all my stuff on the floor because there were no chairs or benches. Also, there is only one shower so you must wait in line.
Inside the spa there is a relaxation/​waiting room which consists of two loveseats stuffed in a tiny room. There you will find tea, water and fruit. There are also two lounge chairs in a teeny tiny patio near the «relaxation» room. Other than those two areas I just mentioned there is nothing else to this place. The pool, sauna, gym and hot tub are outside and part of the hotel. So to use them requires you to exit the «spa» in your robe and mingle amongst the hotel guests (on my day lots of rambunctious kids!).
There is no steam room. If there was I have no idea. The receptionist gave me no proper introduction or explanation of amenities. She just handed me my locker key.
Now to the massage, I opted for the signature massage (Swedish style). Okay look, I’ve been to plenty of really nice spas (and not the strip mall variety if you know what I mean). This was in no way a massage I would expect from a place that is rated «one of the best» in Northern California. My massage therapist (I will not name her) was very rough and heavy handed. She did not have a good touch at all and in no way was my massage relaxing. She had jerky movements and uneven pressure and she started on my feet! I’ve never had a massage that started on my feet! She was not light-​footed nor soft spoken. When she walked around the table she kept bumping into it and she kept yanking on the towel I was laying on with no warning at all. There was no «I will remove the pillow beneath your legs». She just yanked it from under me. Honestly, I felt like this girl needed some kind of training on how to be personable. This was soooo NOT relaxing. It was on the level of a Massage Envy massage (sorry Massage Envy). The girl was young, maybe she was just out of school or something or maybe she specialized in sports massage. I don’t know. SMH
The best part of my day was getting to use the pool on a 90deg day. I ordered a snack and drink. The service at the pool was great as expected for such a nice hotel.
So all in all this is a spa in a hotel… as far as destination spa… no way. AND definitely not one of the best in Northern California. Honestly, this place is overrated.
IF I go back I will definitely ask for a different therapist for sure!

I’ve recently become somewhat of a Spa snob, which is funny as I am not a snob about most other things (jewelry, clothes, wine, etc). So, when deciding what to do with my last few days of Funemployment, I decided a trip to the Spa was in order. I typically gravitate toward Spa’s with ample amenities, since if I’m going to go I want to spend a few hours, not just the duration of my treatment. Thus I chose to give the Spa at the Park a try.
The locker room is super small, so if there is more than one person inside it already feels crowded. I’ve read reviews where people have actually had to share lockers, which seems beside the point when offering a locker. When I came in there were two other people inside and used robes in a pile on the floor. I undressed as quickly as possible and headed to the relaxation room.
The relaxation room was nice and even had a spot to sit in the sun outside. Despite getting into the relaxation room 15 minutes before my appointment, my masseuse was ready for me right away, which was nice because I wanted more time on the tail end of my appointment to use the amenities, but also awkward as in caused someone to knock on the door mid-​massage as they were confused to why it had started at the wrong time.
The massage, by Danielle (yes, same name) was okay. I usually opt for a 50 minute massage, but decided on an 80 minute today for a splurge, but definitely don’t think it was worth it. At times it seemed like she was trying to kill time, as she repeatedly flip flopped between my legs and neck. Some of the massage felt like when I ask my husband to rub my feet, which he does (for 25 seconds) then just leaves his hands on my legs as if I won’t notice he’s stopped.
After my massage I sat by the pool for a while, but didn’t really feel the need to use the hot tub and sauna as it was pretty hot that day, but did jump in the pool which felt amazing. I did get a complimentary glass of champagne which I didn’t know was available until I noticed someone else with it. The spa pool is also the hotel pool, so it was pretty loud and crowded, but after my glass of champagne I didn’t really mind. At the pool there were a couple of kids and also a big group that came into town for a wedding.
Over all it was a serviceable experience. I don’t think it’s at the level of a place that I’d highly recommend to any executive I support and given my Spa snobbery, I’d personally probably skip it next time and go somewhere tried and true, but I think it’s a good day spa for an East Bay local looking for a decent spot.

Champagne is available, but had to be requested. Should it not be offered?
They didn’t have any smaller robes available for my mom. Granted, she is pretty short, so perhaps I shouldn’t dock points for this.
Overall, I paid extra money hoping my family would receive an extremely pampered 5-​star experience, and they did not receive it. I will take my money elsewhere next time.

Took my mom here for her christmas present and i booked the girlfriends package (mother/​daughter).
The package is not worth $ 295. The facial was pretty basic and my mom was disappointed that her specialist didnt help help remove blackheads. Maybe getting the massage would be more worth it. And it felt more like a 40 min facial than a 50 min one.
Next was lunch. I think this was the part that made our experience mediocre. We were put in a little nook in the hallway of their hotel. We ate on a side table and I was so angry that we were given a horrible place to eat and this is my gift for my mom! We were eating while maids were cleaning the rooms.
Lastly, our makeover was just as disappointing. The makeover was given right near the reception area. There were no privacy given as people walked in to check in and watched us getting our makeup done. Also, the so called makeup «artist» gave both of us the «natural day» look. I have to say it looked better on my mom but she says the artist put way too much foundation and drew the eyeliner way above her lashes. My experience was that she put too much orange and reddish eyeshadow that made my eyes look even more tired than they already are. To top it off, she put a brick red lipstick. My skin was chalked with foundation because she constantly applied various powder. Before we left to go shopping my mom and I tried to remove the foundation but there was too much.
I didnt even have to say it. My mom immediately right after the facial she already said she does not want to come back. She would have been more disappointed if she finds out how much I paid for this.

Melissa was dynamite! She used a wide variety of techniques during the massage. She moved with purpose which really allowed me to relax and enjoy it.

I go here every year when I visit my sister for the holidays and it’s always a wonderful experience with great treatments and friendly service. However, my facial with Aurea this week was particularly remarkable. It was hands down the best facial I’ve ever had: informative, relaxing and the products were perfect for me. She really cares and takes pride in her work. If you book a facial with her, you’ll be the better for it!

Great spa day! I really enjoyed the massage and facial. It’s a crazy busy place, which resulted in no place to sit in the relaxation room and sharing lockers. There’s a changing area with no place to sit and one shower. My massage was on time but the facial started late. It gave me no time to relax or pee! I would definitely go back but perhaps try a weekday, if I can swing childcare, so it isn’t as crowded given the limited space.

Came here for 5^th year anniversary… back to where we got married. The couples spa t re ament was exceptional. Marianne and Melissa were amazing… got the 80 minute massage and it was heavenly. Highly recommended.

Great spa located behind the hotel with a separate entrance. Very quaint and private and you feel like you are the only client. Great amenities, and very professional. Auria… you are the best… ever! Love the hotel and love the spa!

We decided we needed a midweek sister spa day and sis found this spot. We got a couple massage and mid week special, comes with complimentary tea, fresh fruit, chocolate and champagne and access to sauna pool and hot tub. Awesome massage and over all experience. We will be back

I just spent the whole day at the Spa on Thursday. I did the Green Tea Body Wrap, which included a full body massage after a Full Body Salt Scrub. Eva was my massage therapist, and she did a stellar job! She made me feel very comfortable – so much so that I constantly fell asleep and would wake myself up from snoring! lol She did a scalp and ear lobe massage that was out of this world! HIGHLY recommend her!
The front desk was super helpful and extremely accommodating. If I asked a question the receptionist didn’t know the answer to, she immediately asked someone who would know to give me the correct info.
I read magazines in the Sauna, soaked in the jacuzzi, did laps in the refreshing pool, sipped fruit water and tea while lounging in the super comfy robe and having a completely blissful day to myself.
I ordered the Quiche and Salad – it was to die for! I was not expecting it to taste so darn amazing. Good price for the Amazing Quality!
I truly enjoyed my Pamper Day and will be back again and again – especially for the amazing price!

This is for the spa/​pool only. We booked treatments at the spa on a Saturday afternoon and felt like they had totally overbooked. We had to share lockers in their teeny tiny locker room. The «relaxation» room was packed full of people. Just too crowded to be relaxing. They did my aunt’s massage in a room in the main hotel and she heard vaccuming and people running up and down the halls. Just not very relaxing so I would avoid the spa on Saturdays. The pool area was packed with people and most «visiting» someone who was staying at the hotel. The staff was very friendly but just seemed overwhelmed with the crowds.

I came for a spa day and was impressed.
I arrived early to enjoy some time at the pool. I was given a nice comfy robe and enjoyed the pool area, where I was served a delicious lunch. I then moved inside, where I hung out in a sunny deck reading a book. The place just had a peaceful ambiance overall. I started my treatments with body exfoliation followed by an incredible massage. The masseuss’ name escapes my mind at this time, but she was AMAZING. She did pressure point when she realized an area of my body was sore.
I also got a facial which was very nice and well done. Natasha was more serious but seemed knowledgeable.
Highly recommend a day in this spa.

Had an amazing facial! I also tested my mom to a massage for helping babysit my kids. It’s a bit smaller than the Claremont spa. They have some great packages and mid week deals, including a mother/​daughter day that includes lunch by the pool. I will definitely be back.

Crapply breakfast for what their charging. Nice pool and spa open late which is a huuge pet peeve of mine, why have a hot tub on your property if your closing it at 9? this one is open late!

I came here with my sis and mom for my sister’s birthday. We booked the facial & massage combo. The weekday discounts are a good thing to take advantage of if you can. The lady who greeted us was very welcoming and friendly. The relaxation room while you wait for your appointment is calm and inviting. I was surprised to see so many women in there glued to their cell phones. It kind of killed the ambiance a little but seriously — you are going to a spa to unwind and unconnect from the outside world. Why are you addicted to your cell phone and checking email? Doesn’t seem very «relaxing»
Lauren did a great job on my facial which was my first one ever but she definitely eased me into it. Lisa was perfect for me with the massage. It was just the perfect amount of pressure and just perfect.
We all decided that next time we will book our appointments with a gap in between so we can enjoy the pool, spa, sauna and even maybe a lunch in between. I can’t believe I’ve never been to this spa even though I’ve been to the Park many times. I will return.
