The Dog House of Lafayette

We have kept our dogs here quite a few times and we have been happy with it. Our dogs don’t come home stressed out. You can get your dog washed/​groomed while they stay.

I’ve used the Dog House for dog boarding when I’m out of town. The facility is reasonably clean and the staff is nice. The hours (7am-​7pm, 7 days a week) are very convenient — you can drop off and pick up anytime during their open hours, which is nice. One of my dogs gets daily meds and they handled that with no problem. On one trip, she had a bandage due to an injury, and they were good about taking care of that, keeping an eye on it (making sure she wasn’t chewing on the bandage), and nice about updating me when I called to check on her.
The place where the dogs stay is a very big space and the dogs are separated by chain link fence /​cage material, so if there are dogs barking, it can be very loud. I could see this being upsetting to quiet or anxious dogs, but mine were fine. It had a fairly strong bleach smell, but they may have just finished cleaning when we saw it.

Our dog loves coming here to play with other dogs! Especially in the winter when our walks tended to be a lot shorter :)
Milo always comes home tired after a day of play, and the prices here are competitive with others in the area. They offer half-​days (5 hours) or full days, and of course overnight boarding. We have only boarded our pup there once for a short period of time, but he seemed to be fine when we picked him up. Every time I go in there he is playing in the big room, and they actually recognize us when we come in which is nice.
I haven’t used the grooming services– but I have seen the workers in there standing around on their cellphones while the dog is all tethered on the table (obviously uncomfortable) waiting to finish being groomed. So I’m not sure if those are separate workers– but I wasn’t too impressed with the care I’ve seen through the window at least with the grooming.
They have a lot of great goodies at the front desk, a lot of times they are things I haven’t seen at the other pet stores. They also have a spacious backyard they utilize when it is nice out. Not too many dog daycares have that!

I am a graduate student who has a very busy schedule with travels for research. This service is great! Reasonably priced, flexible hours, awesome staff. I will definitely be taking my dog back next time I’m out of town!

The staff was very friendly and provided an update on how my dog was while I was gone as soon as I walked in the door.
The facilities are very clean and didn’t smell like some other facilities I had visited.
