Troy was the best dentist I’ve ever had, and I really wish I didnt have to move and find someone else. Always excellent service.

My son and I have been coming to see Dr. Lauritzen since 2009, I believe… and we were both there for our regular cleaning yesterday.
My son use to hate going to the dentist’s office back when we saw our old dentist in Old Oakland on Broadway. But since we switched over to Dr. Lauritzen’s, he never once complained. I like knowing that they are gentle with my son and he doesn’t fear going into the dentist office.
Dr. Lauritzen and his staff are all very nice. We haven’t encountered any problems yet so we’ll continue to come back here, as long as we continue to live in the area.

We were referred to Dr. Lauritzen when our pediatric dentist retired and my youngest was a young teen. Overall VERY NICE personnel, office, etc. However, on the second trip Dr. L chipped the front tooth of my daughter while doing a cleaning. It was small, and he ground it off ~ doesn’t look perfect, but not worth capping since the tooth is cavity free. But here’s the big one: a couple of years later she developed an achy jaw. This went on and off for 3 years, with night guards recommended. A second opinion recommended against that, so we never did. Finally, while off at college, the true source was revealed: she had a previous filling actually touching a nerve, and it finally killed the nerve. Wouldn’t a simple X-​ray over a course of 3 years reveal it as a possible source of the problem? Yep, you’d think so! Root canal done, and voila pain completely gone. …And yes, we did switch dentists! This is tough to write because ALL the personnel there are so nice; I think Dr. L just needs a few more year’s experience under his belt.

Excellent. My entire family have been patients here, and I have only good things to say about the office, the treatment I received and Troy himself, who is a fantastic dentist, very professional, and a funny guy, as well. Came here again recently after an unpleasant experience using a Groupon for dental services — an ill advised decision that ended up costing me more money than it was worth. I don’t mind paying out of pocket for quality services, especially when they involve things like my teeth. Thanks to this office, they won’t be falling out of my head anytime soon.

After going to Troy for a few years, I was disappointed with the way his office handled my most recent billing situation. The office avoided explaining the specifics of the situation, and Dr. Troy became quite arrogant when talking with me. He and his office did not own up to the fact that they missed a crack in my tooth a year ago, and now are charging me for their error. Not to mention, the hygienist actually displaced the filling during my appointment, and I was charged for that replacement too. When I asked him to explain the charges, he simply said the dentistry is expensive. My entire family will be leaving his office. Clearly, he and his office are over rated and just in it for the money.

Dr. Troy is top notch! He’s as good as everyone says he is! He’s been my dentist for almost 10 years and I have recommended him to many friends. His work holds up year after year! A filling done almost 10 years ago is still there. He takes the time to explain every option and details of procedure.
Just a few days ago on Thursday, 12/​23, I had a severe toothache and it just wouldn’t go away. I called his office and the they had just closed that day at noon for the holiday weekend. They put me on hold and called him to tell him that his patient had an emergency. A few mins later, he called me to see how I was doing. He sent an rx to the pharm and I’ll seeing him this week. He’s great like that. It’s 2 days before Christmas and he’s helping me on the phone and taking time to explain everything –not rushing me through it!
Everyone at this practice is terrific — from Nicole on the phone & front desk to all the dental hygenists (most of them have cleaned my teeth). Billing questions? The billing gal is excellent too! I’ve seen Dr. Swimmer there too and he’s also great! One of the best things about the appointment system is that they maintain a cancellation list and call back list so if someone cancels, they will call you to see if you can take that spot. Works great if you had to cancel your cleaning appt and don’t want to wait too long to get the cleaning!

Dr. Troy was recommended to me by a friend after I had terrible work done at the other dentist I was seeing (see my other review about him). My dentist had filled a cavity VERY poorly and I was so unhappy with his work and SO nervous to go to dentists because of this.
Dr. Troy makes you feel very comfortable and treats you like an old friend from the second you meet him. He was SO gentle with my mouth that was in pain and was able to refill the cavity that had been hurting for months. His filling was so fast, painless and clean compared to the other dentist I’ve been to. My pain in the tooth has gone away for the most part (as long as I keep flossing). I’m SO happy with him and all the people at his office. The front desk people and dental assistants that have cleaned my teeth are so friendly and actually make going to the dentist not so bad!
He is not in my insurance network but I go to him and pay out of pocket because it is so worth the trustworthy good work he does. I will be always going to him from now on!!!

Dr. Lauritzen is awesome, he’s focused on preventative care and keeping your teeth pretty for life. When I was 18 I killed one of my front teeth and needed an emergency root canal. It was a drastically different color than the rest of my teeth (purple) but I really didn’t want to have to get it capped. Dr. L internally bleached it and it looks perfect.
I’ve been going to this dental practice since I was three years old (and my mom has been going since she was three, too). Dr. Lauritzen came to the practice as Dr. Swimmer (Sr.) was retiring, which I think is nearly ten years ago now. I have since moved to SF for school, but I think it’s worth the hour drive to Lafayette for the high quality of care you receive here.

I am a big fraidy cat when it comes to dentists, really big. I’d be too embarrassed to say how long it had been since I’d been for a cleaning and check up, but I brought my kids to him and they all left feeling great. He was very, very kind to them. I got brave and made an appointment. I told the receptionist that I was scared and that it had been since the first Bush was in charge since I’d been to a dentist. She said that they’d take good care of me, and she was right. They really did. I’ve since recommended him to other fraidy cats who’ve all had positive experiences too.
