University Place Apartments

Apartment flooded mold was found, ask them to accommodate me to another apartment while mine should have been fixed. They did not. Now i have doctor bills from allergic reaction to mold and they reported me to credit bureau for not paying last month rent… cause my room flooded and mold was found. Stay away for your own safety.

I have been at this complex for 2 years. The ONLY thing good about this place is that it is close to campus so that cuts down on the price of gas and paying for parking/​parking tag.
Let me start from the beginning
I am currently in a 1bed 1bath furnished apartment. When I first moved in I did not have a bed for two weeks. I called constantly to the office and they gave me one excuse after another. I am still missing a piece for my living room furniture that was suppose to be delivered to me a year ago (I just stopped calling). Also as a side note don’t waste your money on the furniture it is not worth it.
The walls are thin, I hear my upstairs neighbors fighting and screwing every other night. The clubhouse/​workout room is a joke! The printer is always broken or doesn’t have ink. The workout equipment is worn out. It takes the maintenance people forever to fix your problems. My stove has not worked since I moved in this place! The kitchen appliances are soooo dated! My dishwasher leaked every time I tried to use it. They FINALLY decided to give me a new one. My kitchen sink leaked for two weeks the maintenance crew were basically there every day.
I am not sure what the office workers are getting paid for because they are not helpful AT ALL! The only thing they are good for doing is putting little stupid flyers for events that UPA host and banging on your door to ask you to renew your lease. The washrooms are disgusting! The water is always getting backed up so the floor in the washrooms are always wet and gross. AND! On top of that the washing machines charge your credit card $ 5 to wash your clothes sometimes when its suppose to be $ 1.25. UPA DOES NOT REFUND YOUR MONEY SO BRING COINS.
Also one day they towed some of the residents cars and moved them to the other side of the apartment complex without telling us, so that they could repaint the parking lot lines. The communication between the office and the residents is horrible. They never send out notices on important things but they can come flood our front doors with flyers for stupid little so called social events.
ALSO! VERY IMPORTANT! the street Oakcrest which is where the apartment complex is domiciled is NOT SAFE. Earlier this year a young lady was car jacked and sometimes last year (december) a man robbed the gas station that sit at the beginning of the street and the suspect ran towards the apartment complex to hide. ALSO two young men were robbed at gun point I believe about a year ago. I always try to be in by dark or no later than nine o’clock.
The inside of the apartments are nice though, big bedroom plenty of closed space. This place has really just been more of an aggravation then anything else. If you are in your last couple of years at UL like I was and just need a place close to campus then this will do but I recommend you look around elsewhere first.
Also beware of fake reviews! They offer newly signed residents a $ 50 visa gift card to write a good review.

University Place is really close to campus. It’s convenient living here. However, the staffs sometimes are not really informed of all policies. Sometimes, they say something and then the manager has to correct them, which leading the residents to confusion.
