Virtuous Cycles is an awesome place. People over there were very friendly. I went there for getting a new seat post and saddle for my bike. They gave lot of cost effective suggestion. And they got it fixed in no time. I also went to they Friday free maintenance service in their garage once. They were so helpful and thought me how to tune my bike gears. I will recommend this shop to my friends and people of all«price range»

I’m an experienced rider but don’t know a ton about purchasing bikes or repair. The folks at this family owned shop are helpful without being intimidating, and are able to accommodate most any price range, experience level and bike need from clothing to kids’ gear to accessories. Their used bike selection is huge and reasonably priced. Very highly recommended.

Great example of what a local bike shop should be like. While they don’t have the 3 or 4 name brand bikes the average non-cycling person would recognize, they carry a nice selection of quality bicycles for any type of cycling someone wants to do. Whether that is road, mountain, cargo ect. They are friendly, competent, and they truly care about the local cycling community.

VC is the downtown, crunchy-granola hipster bike shop that just happens to have some really nice bike lines(Kona, Surly, etc) and a very eclectic feel. If you are looking for a specialty bike that marches to your inner Thoreau, you’ve arrived. Want a stylin’ commuter ride? Check. Riding the Roubaix next week? No problem. Fix your Sturmey-Archer three-speed shifter from the 1943 Raliegh? Yawn. Want that funky accessory item that you cant find or didn’t know existed? You might be surprised. VC’s big deal for me is the selection and QUALITY of clothing. I ride a lot and I wear cheaper bike clothes out too fast for them to be good values. I also hate buying clothes and shoes online because fit varies so widely. So its a deal. They carry Endura, a Scottish line that I was happy to find and wears like iron. A great new addition to the local cycling planet!

Good place. Good quality products and nice staffs. Do not compare with bikes at Walmart or some market.

I took my vintage bike(bought at a garage sale years ago for $ 5) and got new brakes, clean-up, tires, etc… for a very reasonable price. Staff was knowledgeable, helpful, and relaxed(didn’t try to oversell). If I need anything else for my bike(or my Hubby’s or sons’), I know where to go!

Virtuous Cycles is easily the best bicycle shop I have ever been to. Their prices are extremely competitive(even compared to online), the quality of their service is phenomenal, and they really want to make sure that you love your bike. I went here dozens of times during my four years at Purdue, and I never once left the shop disappointed. The owner is super friendly, and all of the mechanics know their stuff. They won’t try to sell you a bike or upgrade that you don’t need and really cater to people who use their bike for purposes other than racing. If you are looking for great service at a great price, Virtuous Cycles can’t be beat.

Really great shop to go to, some of the best prices in Indiana too! Fast service, and helpful information when you are getting a repair. They’ve also got open stand on Sunday from 4−6p, where you get to work on your own bike there free using their tools and professional guidance! There’s often friends of the shop always hanging out there, you can always trust a shop as good when people simply enjoy being there!

I recently had Virtuous Cycles assist me with a fork rebuild. I was once again amazed at their customer service and their talent for some of the more ‘exotic’ bike repairs that Mountain bikers such as myself often need. After upgrading the fork on my Kona Mahuna(that I purchased from Virtuous this past summer) to a RockShox Recon Gold, it turns out that there was a manufacturers defect that appears in some of the forks– the oil in the dampeners leaks into the lowers, resulting in the fork not compressing. A repair like this usually requires either(i) sending the fork back to the manufacturer and waiting for many weeks or(ii) finding a specialty company that specifically focuses on fork and suspension rebuilds, most of which are pretty far from where I live in Lafayette, IN. However, Zoe Neal– Virtuous’s shopkeeper, persisted and was able to rebuild the fork, and now I’m riding again. This in spite of the fact that fork rebuilds are not a common type of maintenance they do(nor do many other bike shops). Additionally, the new fork introduced some braking issues– the brake pads on my hydraulic disc brakes were rubbing the rotors. Virtuous’s mechanic Eric was able to fix that problem as well – with some unconventional tricks(including flipping the brace for the calipers upside down – contra what the manufacturer recommended – that’s what it takes though). I note that I have a decent grasp on the workings of disc brakes– I realign and adjust mine all the time and know a few of the tricks. However, solving this problem required unconventional thinking that not only eluded me but also eluded several professional and seasoned bike mechanics. So I commend Virtuous Cycle’s for their customer service, persistence, and their mechanical ingenuity and creativity. Many other shops wouldn’t be able to fix the fork and would also suggest I purchase a whole new set of brakes.
