Laguna Playhouse

What a great venue this is! We recently saw Act 3 with Rita Rudner. We loved it! We usually come 2 – 3 times a year. It is quite a drive from Anaheim, but it is so worth it. Such a beautiful location! It is such an intimate theater every seat is good. We have seen a number of plays here and all were excellent. Most memorable were The Buddy Holly Story (exhilarating), Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks and recently Blues Brothers. Looking forward to seeing Louis and Keely.

I went to see a show last night for the first time since I was in college. probably 2005. so tragic. I was a theatre major– I need to start seeing shows regularly again. I had completely forgotten the setup and everything because it had been so long. but I was in Row D and my seat was fantastic! The theatre is a small house– probably about 500 seats or so. Pretty much every seat is a great seat. The one problem is that the seats are kinda tiny, and very close together. The person sitting next to me kept elbowing me every time she shifted in her seat. At one point, her head was almost in my lap because her arm was on the armrest, and she was leaning her head in her hand. Not the theatre’s fault, but come on. if you’re a patron, you need to be aware of the people sitting next to you… and that every time you stick your elbows out. you are hitting the person next to you. I literally was sitting legs crossed, and arms crossed over my legs and she was still hitting me every 2 seconds.
It is pretty cool to be sitting that close to the stage though. The actors do make eye contact with you. I even made it on the night they had an actor chat-​back! Very cool. The audience can ask the actors questions. I definitely need to see more shows here. The atmosphere is great, the concessions aren’t badly priced, and it’s a great space to watch shows. There is even a small parking lot behind the theatre. Definitely try to get there early for parking. Coming from Huntington, I left way early. You need to give yourself like an hour and 20 minutes to get there and park. especially driving down PCH.

As soon as we got here we went straight to the guest service window. We were greeted with a warm welcome and the tickets were ready to go. Came in to the reception it was pretty tight as everybody was just standing around. The prices of the drinks and refreshments were very reasonable. Show was amazing, wonderful evening out with the family. It doesn’t matter which seats you buy as you can see the stage perfectly regardless of where you’re at. Will definitely come again!

This place is the best! I brought 52 people last night to hear Hershey Felder as Irving Berlin, and wow! This show was fabulous, and we were treated like royalty by the staff of the Playhouse. Dee Dee Irwin is their top notch Marketing Director, she is an angel and has always made sure my group was taken care of. We LOVE you guys, and plan on coming down to see Foot Loose. Many patrons don’t realize the great shows during the summer that coincide with the picnic dinner music on the fair grounds. Picnic dinner next door, and 7:30 PM show at the Playhouse!

This is a great small theater and they always have good productions. There really are no bad seats because the theater is so small… even the balcony seats are good. Sometimes the tickets can be a little expensive, but most of their shows are on goldstar so you can get them cheaper.

Went to a play on Sunday 5÷3÷15 we bought 2 cookies at. the snack bar and as we entered the to seated the women said you can not take the inside after a discussion she said we could put them in my purse but she would be
and if we ate the cookie we would asked to leave! In the mean time she was letting people. In with food and drinks without saying a word. No where was posted that food and drink was not allowed in the theater. We felt we were bad children and singled out. We will not return plus the play was awful!!!

We were treated to a New Year’s Eve themed show called Strike 12. The show was wonderful and the room was pretty full. The sight lines were all good as was the sound quality. The building is a little aged and they could use a remodel but the service was good and the tickets were a good value. They have a small cocktail bar. Walking distance from the cool shopping area and they have plenty of parking across the street.

Wow. So many fond memories here. I performed here, worked backstage here and also came as a patron. Fantastic location. Great theater, well built with a long legacy of excellence.
I spent some of my formative years here and the content/​productions certainly shaped me as an adult. That legacy continues with thoughtful, engaging productions. That’s hard to find in a small town theater.

I ADORE Laguna Playhouse.
When I’m in The OC, this is a darling theatre to visit.
OK, so the commute there is a PITB (pain in the butt).
However, all their productions are really excellent.
They have a tres cher parking lot. Just wait at street level. We have always managed to find FREE street parking within a block from here.

I grew up both attending and working for a phenomenal legit theatre, The McCarter Theater Company.
Ms. Caron’s lack of availability to ticket holders stood out. This is part of why peeps will pay the ticket price is to get to shake the hand of stars. If not, then just charge $ 10 as if you are a community amateur theater.

We went to see «The Buddy Holly Story» at the Laguna Playhouse today and it was terrific! It’s a a nice venue to see a play, and this musical was amazing and had very talented performers.
There was convenient free parking with a shuttle bus to the Playhouse. That took extra time but made the trip easier.

We love the Playhouse! We have been Season ticket holders for decades and always look forward to an evening at the Playhouse! The theater is close to home and quaint. There are always wonderful selections of performances!

We just saw Leslie Caron in «Six Dance Lessons in Six Days». Fun show and charming to see Leslie Caron after all these years. I haven’t sat in every seat in this theatre but we were halfway to the back of the house and our seats were great.
The lighting was fun emulating sunrise, sunset, day time and evening, and Ms Caron’s costumes were all to die for (and Spanx or not, she rocked them pretty hard for an 81 year old).
My one problem with the show is that Ms Caron’s sound levels were very low and together with her accent (charming as it was) it made many of her lines inaudible. In contrast, Mr Engel’s voice was booming. A balance would have made the show much more enjoyable for the audience.

So cute.
Saw The Legend of Sleepy Hollow here a couple months ago and was surprised to find it was mostly children actors… maybe it was just this particular performance? Regardless, it was excellent. I will say I was expecting it to be longer, but what they crammed into the hour-​long performance I was thoroughly impressed with.
The stage and theater are small, but there are no bad seats. They have a little concession area like most theaters, but it was kinda cool to see they even had a legit little coffee bar, and the coffee wasn’t half bad!
I will definitely come back to this venue in the future. I booked the tickets through Goldstar and they almost always have Laguna Playhouse performances listed as soon as the shows are announced.

Nice, small & cozy theater in the heart of Laguna Beach. Wonderful venue with good seats no matter where you sit.
I’ve been to several performances this year, such as «I do! I do!,» «Britishmania,» and «Rockstar!»
Just saw a performance today of «Sister Rolls the Dice,» and it was amazing! Wonderful performance full of laugh out loud comedy.

*I am proud to say that I am a bargain hunter. I found our tickets for half the price. I simply signed up for GOLDSTAR
. It is FREE and easy. Then you will have more money to spend at one of their delicious restaurants and their fantastic shops!

I’ve been to the Playhouse twice and overall I like it. The theater itself is fairly small so you can’t get a bad seat. I never had a problem with seeing or hearing the action on stage. My only complaint is that in July the parking lot that belongs to the Playhouse is rented out to the big festival next door for their performers to park in. I cannot belive that a paying customer of the Playhouse is not allowed to park in their own parking lot and is left to have to find street parking or pay for the lot across the street. That is not cool for customers just so the Playhouse can make extra money.

Well located with a lot of dining choices nearby.
Only downfall was there was no free parking for the theater (this is only the case during the summer with the Pageant of the Masters is going on next door). We luckily were helped out by the parking lot attendant that directed us to free residential parking! Score!
I’d be more than happy to come back for another show.

What an awesome community theater. Check out their website for something of interest, and go for a perfect date night spot.
The LF and I went this past weekend for Late Night Catechism Las Vegas, and it was hilarious. It is a one women show written and performed by Maripat Donovan, and she has been performing for 22 years with various versions of her Sister persona. Performances until June 23^rd.
The best part of this playhouse? Not only a full bar, but you are allowed to take your drinks to your seat to sip during the performance. Is this how adults are treated? If so, I guess I need to seek out more of these adult venues. Even better than Pee-wee’s Playhouse eh?

I love this theater. It is small and cozy. All the actors and actresses were really outstanding. Majority of attendees are older women. We saw «Having It All» and «Steel magnilia». Both were good but it sucks that the setting did not change. They could have done more with the stage. Parking is either street or across the street.

I absolutely adore Laguna Beach for all its adorably quaint and artsy charm.
So it comes to no surprise how excited I was to get an invite from my mother to attend a Christmas themed musical called «Plaid Tidings» at this quaint little theater.
While the prospect of parking in Laguna Beach can normally be cause for a mild anxiety attack, the Laguna Playhouse has its own lot which was very well situated just behind the theater for the standard $ 10. We saw people parking across the street (for much less, I’m sure) but I was traveling with my aging grandmother and she appreciated not having to hike.
Tickets were reasonably priced and there was a quaint lobby bar upon entering the building offering wine, beer, spirits and nibbly bits (i.e. bags of chips). A steward directed us to the spiral staircase (*NOTE* there is no elevator) that would lead us to our balcony seats and we enjoyed them tremendously — the acoustics in the building are very good!
Due to the fact that our seats were front row of the balcony section, there was quite the walk way gap (18 inches or so?) between our seats and the edge of the balcony. This gap was welcomed when people needed to pass by to get to their seats but otherwise, it caused me and my height-​challenged grandmother to have to sort of lean forward in our seats in order to get a better view. For this reason, I would probably choose to sit in the lower level of the theater next time.
I really enjoyed the small theater feel and would definitely recommend it!
