I offer baby sign language «classes,» which are more like playgroups for parents/​caregivers and kids, with lots of singing, review, and fun. Basic signs from American Sign Language are taught including safety, food, animals, family, and playtime. Signs are taught in four one-​hour classes, which are fun and engaging for adults and children. Why sign with your baby? Recent research indicates that not only does singing with your baby increase your bond and understanding of your baby’s needs, it may actually raise your baby’s IQ. Business Owner

I have a Bachelor and Master of Arts in English, and also hold a Master of Education from Boston College. I’ve worked in the field of education for many years, teaching English, American Sign Language (ASL), and Journalism at the high school and college levels. I also served as dean and director of several university student affairs offices. Recently I trained as a baby sign language instructor and began teaching ASL to parents and babies in northern California. I have also taught parents to sign with their children on the Big Island of Hawai’i.

My initial interest in ASL stemmed from communicating with my Deaf cousin when I was younger. That interest evolved into my high school ASL teaching position and then into a love affair of signing with my baby (now a toddler). Cuinn learned over seventy signs by the time he was eighteen months! In additional to having my professional teaching license, I am currently pursuing a Sign Language Interpreter certificate from Saddleback College.
