Surf & Sand Resort

WARNING! This hotel has No AIr Conditioning! I wish I would’ve known this prior to making my travel plans because I would’ve stayed somewhere else. This hotel is very expensive and not worth it if it doesn’t have air. I was never informed of this when making the reservation over the phone or at check in. They do have fans in the rooms but it’s not enough when visiting in the summer. Maybe in the winter it would be more tolerable to stay at this property but it’s humid, sticky and sweaty in the summer. Besides that everything else about our stay was great. The rooms and view are beautiful. Our room was very clean as was the rest of the property. The staff is very friendly as well. Unfortunately though I won’t be back just because of the air issue, I feel that for the price I paid I should be comfortable in my room and I wasn’t at all.

This is an upscale little gem right along the coast. Private beach (don’t worry about lugging along chairs or umbrellas, they set them up for you) that is clean and shallow so your kids can play in it. The pool overlooks the ocean and the view is amazing. The ocean front rooms are set up so that you can lie in bed and see the ocean through the balcony. The breakfast accommodations are great. Each service you would expect goes above and beyond. The place is clean and the bed comfortable. They had a kids craft in the afternoon that gave my 6 year old something to do when he needed a break from the pool. They had afternoon ice cream sundaes which was also a fun treat. They provided a comfortable cot and crib for our kids and it was a little tight space wise but it worked.
As if that wasn’t enough, the service and attitude of every staff member we encountered was positive and accommodating. During the day I had tried on a hat at the gift shop and my son remembered and wanted to buy it for me for my upcoming birthday. However when he and dad snuck away, the gift shop was already closed. The concierge at the time, Celia, contacted Moses (with security I believe) and he opened the shop for my son to get the hat. Unfortunately it ended up being the wrong style (which for $ 40 I wanted to make sure I got the right one) so I went back to the concierge and asked if there was any way I could make a quick exchange without my son knowing (we were leaving the next day before the shop opened). They were more than happy to accommodate my request a second time. They certainly did not have to do that once let alone twice.
We will definitely be back!

This used to be my favorite hotel until this last trip. The room was very disappointing. Small and cramped.

This hotel resort is located right on the beach! Its totally awesome! Every room has an ocean view, chocolates on the pillow, a keurig in the room, with K cups, cream and sugar, wifi in the rooms. Since you are right on the beach, you do hear the waves crashing all night, which can be either soothing or loud depending on the person. I found it pleasant but there are ear plugs provided on the nightstand if it bothers you.
The surf right in front of the hotel was perfect for bodysurfing so bring some bodyboard fins and a hand plane if you’re into that. I brought a boogie board, which worked out pretty good, but it was more fun body surfing. Surfboards are not allowed from 12 — 4 because of all the people in the water during peak times.
I came here for a corporate event, there were multiple small meeting rooms which were great, the staff was super friendly, and on point. Besides our event, it was summer and they offered free appetizers and wine at sunset which was really nice. There were also other events like fitness and yoga on the beach, which i did not get to check out because we were in meetings at the time.
I love this resort, there is a pool, hot tub, bar and restaurant that over look the beach, what a nice little getaway. So relaxing.

Wow! It’s an amazing resort! My room was facing the ocean. All the staff are attentive and just awesome! It is expensive though but I love this place. Never before had I experienced the closeness of my room practical just feet away from the surf! Great, just great experience! We will be back for more!

I can’t rave enough about Surf & Sand Resort! Everything was so perfect. Beach/​ocean lovers will absolutely loveeeeeee this resort which sits literally on the beach!
Bf & I stayed in an oceanfront towers king room on the very top floor. Our room had:
–A small balcony overlooking the ocean. No chairs or table on balcony.
–Mirror above door leading to balcony to view the ocean even when laying in bed!
–A comfy king bed
–iPhone compatible alarm clock
–Bathtub with jets
–Shower/​toilet in closed off room
–Double vanity, hair dryer
–Couch, table with 2 chairs
–Keurig with k cups
–Locked mini fridge with items that you have to pay for
–2 robes, iron and board
–and my favorite: the bathroom has a wall/​door that can open up completely which creates a more open, spacious environment. You can stand in the bathroom with a view of the ocean! I posted photos to better describe it. I took a bubble bath with the balcony door wide open to see and hear the ocean and it was by far the best bubble bath experience I’ve ever had! Relaxation at its finest!
Room décor is simple, natural, and beachy.
We left and returned at night with the bed made, lights dimmed, calming quiet music from the Surf & Sand channel on TV, 2 robes set out on the bed, and 2 chocolates! It was such a cute little surprise.
There are lights shining from the building onto the beach at night so you can still enjoy the ocean view at any time!
The sound of waves crashing is VERY loud! Ear plugs are available for free at bedside.
Valet parking only available.
Checking out was easy and quick. Valet guys were kind to run and grab us cold water bottles before our car arrived. Shortly after leaving the driveway, I received a «thank you for your stay» text message!
We experienced nothing but friendly customer service and enjoyed the beautiful, romantic, relaxing atmosphere!

What an amazing experience. I was in a beach front room, and I was blown away with the view. The room was perfect too.
What a beautiful place to stay at. The beds are heavenly, too.

Fabulous venue, magnificent views, delicious food and wonderful service. Manny from facilities and his entire team were so attentive when my shower was not working. He had someone up here in literally five minutes. They also changed the locks on my door to a new system and Manny personally went down and got me new keys and brought them back up. This is kindness and this is luxury vacationing at its finest.

This place was perfect EXCEPT…
My wife and I visited and had an unbelievable time. The property, the location, the people, were all epic. Unfortunately, this was clouded by the fact that their Bell Staff removed our bags from our airport transportation, but failed to remove my jacket. Spent days trying to track down the clothing, with no help from the staff, and then was told I could file a security report. No responsibility, Nada, Zero. Not even a… «Hey, come stay a night on us, or discount of future stay, NOTHING. Extremely disappointed. Without this, this would go down as epic.

Awesome experience. I am the type of person that pay attention to every details and I couldn’t say one bad thing about this hotel. The service was amazing. Every staff was so friendly and helpful. Super clean. Gorgeous view. Highly recommended. Great experience

I can’t say enough great things about the Surf and Sand Resort in Laguna Beach. The only downfall to staying here is that you will eventually have to leave. Located on Pacific beachfront, this luxury resort truly offers it all: pool and jacuzzi, café, lounge with outdoor seating and fire pits, restaurant/​bar (Splashes) overlooking the ocean, gym and spa. The rooms are extremely nice and if you are fortunate to get a beach view, it is absolutely breathtaking. Totally worth the price in my opinion, rooms are top of the line with balconies/​sundecks, you really can’t have a bad stay. Wifi is available which is great if you are traveling for business. Staff is extremely friendly and accommodating, 5 star service. Can’t wait to come back for my next stay!

Fantastic customer service, great room accommodations and amenities. Fun environment with beautiful views. $ 39.99 for a movie is ridiculous given the room cost. Consider including all movies for free when staying at such an exclusive place. I know, a small item but if you’re going to provide exceptional service and charge for it… Don’t nickel and dime the little stuff.

Really enjoyed our stay and had an ocean view! I think the ocean view made up for the hiccups. Staff is friendly and helpful. Nice shops located nearby and easy access to public transit.

Stayed 3 nights, fruit flys frozen in ice in the drinks & if you book thru a 3^rd party site be prepared to be treated poorly. Rooms need updating & loose the old fake flowers. Only part that was good was oceanfront. For the price many better choices less expensive oceanfront.

Came to Splashes for some Dessert and got the top 3 and shared family style. There were 7 of us. It was Delicious! Great Service and Atmosphere… Will be back!

I got my grandparents set up to stay at the Surf and Sand Resort this past January and they had the best time. My Nana asked me write this review for them :)

This is one of my favorite hotels! The rooms are basic and usually have a couch and table but the views are amazing!!! I love sleeping with the doors open listening to the ocean!!! The bathrooms are small, usually in the back with a small shower and a separate bathtub but you don’t come here for the bathroom.
There is a coffee shop on property that is amazing and a restaurant, Splashes that has not disappointing.
The best thing they do is light up the ocean at night… here is a photo of that

Well worth what you pay to stay.
The coffee shop is great, my only issue was early morning meetings and no coffee until 6;30am when I had 6am meetings.

They have a nice pool and weight room but not 24 hours.
The rooms are super nice and you hear the waves all the time.

My husband and I came here for a staycation during Valentine’s Day. It couldn’t have been a more perfect spot. All of the rooms are facing the ocean and we were in the building that was closest to the ocean so our balcony was literally on top of the beach /​ocean! Such a romantic, scenic, and dreamy spot!
We looked at several other hotels in the area and the Surf and Sand had the best pricing by far. The rooms are very reasonable for what you’re getting. We paid around $ 600 a night for an ocean view room. At the Ritz or Mirage or any other hotel, you would pay that much for a Gardenview room. So in our opinion, it was very much worth it!
There’s tons of stuff to do in the area and it’s all walking distance from the hotel. We went to coffee shops, bars, restaurants, etc. The front desk also has a collection of DVDs that you can rent for free. One night we did pizza and a movie since everything sort of dies down after sunset.
The room itself is nice. Very modern décor and great bath products. I particularly fell in love with the Philosophy conditioner; omg it smelled amazing! The only thing lacking is AC. They have a heat unit but no air conditioning. they have a ceiling fan but it can really get quite hot at night. Oh, and keep in mind that the ceiling fan is superlow. I’m only 5 feet and even I could touch it. That’s never happened to me before! Also, I guess this is a great problem to have but the waves are much louder than you’d expect. However, it’s really nice that they give you earplugs!
The hotel has excellent service. They clean the room twice today, once during turn down service. They gave us complimentary wine and chocolate on the first night which was so sweet of them. :)
They have a restaurant on site called Splashes. There are three sites that you can order at — from the bar which is on the lower level near the beach, then the restaurant which is proper fine dining, and then the outdoor lounge area with fire pits which is right near the hotel lobby. We went to all three spots and definitely enjoyed it. They have lots of vegetarian options. I highly recommend the nachos which come with a black bean purée and lots of deliciousness on top! We also had the Brussels sprouts which were pretty tasty. Make sure you make reservations because the restaurant and bar get really packed!
We spent some time by the pool side and enjoyed ourselves. They have bars are at the pool and on the beach since often times the pool seats are full. I thought that was funny because they have a huge sign that says no alcohol permitted on beach. That didn’t stop them from sending us margaritas on the beach :)
Overall, we had an excellent experience and will definitely be back!

Scheduled our girl’s night getaway here for a Saturday night.
Room: We had a room on the first floor, but it was very quiet. The rooms have beautiful views of the ocean which made it worth it. Beds were very comfortable and with the waves its makes sleeping easy (funny side note: they had ear plugs for people that can’t stand the sound of the waves?)
Spa: its small; 2 outdoor small jacuzzis (a bachelorette party of 5 showed up and that filled up one of the jacuzzis. However, my massage was good.
Amenities: The pool is very small and the bar was small too. We ended up walking to town to enjoy the restaurants and bars.
Fantastic getaway for the night.
