We also offer SUP lessons and SUP tours of Laguna Beach’s pristine coastline for the adventurous spirit.

When you walk into Thalia Surf, you’ll realize that it’s no ordinary shop, retro and handshaped longboards, vinyl records, vintage surf movies, contemporary art books, and retro boardshorts are common things you’ll find here. The majority of the companies we carry are local, or small and independent surf brands. We host art shows and concerts once a month with different brands and have even helped local bands get noticed and sign record deals. If you’re looking for an authentic surf shop, where the employees and owner only wear and sell brands that they themselves support, then look no further!

History

Established in 2001.

Thalia Surf was established in 2001 by Nick Cocores, who grew up working for his parents at their surf shop of the same name a few doors down. In 2001, Nick started his own surf shop at 915 S Coast Hwy. It was a struggle at first, as none of the big, well known brands would open up in the store, so instead he began working with the small, independent brands that nobody else carried. Eventually it grew into what it is today, a breeding ground for small surf companies, artists and musicians who live the surf lifestyle. At the end of 2010, Vans Shoes approached Thalia Surf about opening up a collaboration surf store, right next to Thalia. Now today there is Thalia Surf and Vans by Thalia Surf, both of which are independently owned by Cocores. Vans wanted Thalia Surf to curate a surf shop with Vans product that they thought fit their ideas of what a surf shop should be. Coming up on 10 years, Cocores and Thalia Surf have proven that there is surfing beyond the mainstream companies.
