History

Established in 2009.

MiniWorx was established to offer the MINI owner and enthusiast an honest, high quality, professional and affordable MINI ONLY service center. Our business has grown every year, so we feel we are definitely on the right path. We plan on opening additional locations in Orange County in order to offer our high quality MINI only services to more MINI owners, so stay tuned!

John J.

Business Owner

John has been in the automotive industry since graduating from the University of Wisconsin. After graduation, John worked at BMW North America as a national Marketing Manager. During that time John also raced Formula cars on the weekends, doing all of the hands on preparation work on the cars. While at BMW NA, John gained a first hand appreciation of the value of Factory Training for Service Technicians and the excellence of engineering that goes into BMW factory parts. It’s no surprise that John now hires only factory trained technicians and uses OEM parts.

Honest, professional, knowledgeable, one of the best repair/​service business I have used. If possible, I would give them 10 stars. After the engine light came on, I took my 2010 Mini to Miniworxs. The car needed a new thermostat, they could have just done the work and charged me, but Jon checked with Mini service and found out that it was still under warranty by the factory. Miniworxs saved me hundreds of dollars.

So I’m a chick, I know nothing about cars, and need all the help I can get, after my warranty was over I have tired to look for right shop for me, my friend directed me to MiniWorx and Im infinity happy, they probably laugh at me out there as I don’t even know how to check my own oil, but any problem I ever had is being taking care of in most timely matter, reasonable price and amazing customer service. Having a car at 100k miles can be scary but I feel so happy i have found this shop and client for life!

Ryan is an excellent mechanic and Jon, the owner of Miniworx, is both professional and honest. I started taking my 2008 Cooper S to Miniworx as soon as my free maintenance program ended at the dealership. Both the service and the repair costs at Miniworx is much better than any of the local dealerships.
Jon’s prognosis for my 2008 and its issues was not encouraging even though he knew my getting a new Cooper would, once again, put me in the clutches of the dealership and out of his shop. Well, I got a new 2015 and my only regret (so far) is having to go back to the dealership to take advantage of the free maintenance. I give Miniworx my highest recommendation.

I changed the battery in my Mini and was told that I needed to have the battery registered in my system. I called John at Miniworx OC to ask how much he would charge for the service since Mini was wanting one hour of labor charge to do this. His answer … my year mini did not have to have the battery registered. There was no hesitation to offer the advice, no cost, not soliciting, just honesty.
That short phone call with that honest answer has convinced me the next time my mini needs care, straight to MiniWorx OC it goes.

Fantastic place and deserves 10 stars! I paid a bit less than quoted and even the quote was less than the dealership or somewhere else. When I arrived, before anything else happened, I actually got some impromptu education about my Mini and a couple things to look out for. I love that this business owner actually cares enough to empower me to be not only safer but how to save on expensive repairs longterm by doing some cheap & simple things periodically now. All of this was explained in layman’s terms but at no point was I ‘sold’ anything … this was pure free education presented in a meaningful way to someone like me, who is not an engineer. This guy clearly is trustworthy, I can’t recommend his shop highly enough.
All the technicians here working for him are specifically trained on Minis, not generic training, and the owner’s background is very interesting too.

What can I say about Jon and MiniWorx in Laguna Hills? About a month ago my 2009 Mini Cooper «S» made a loud noise, engine light came on and all the oil came gushing out! I had it towed to a AAA recommended mechanic, they told me that my engine was blown and I needed a new engine. I read the reviews on Unilocal for MiniWorx and I called and spoke to Jon the owner who took time to speak with me and told me to to have it towed to his shop so he could take a look at it. I had it towed to his shop and he called me back that afternoon and spent a considerable amount of time with me on the phone and explained to me exactly what it needed.
I trusted his judgement and asked him to proceed. Long story short he had it fixed and the repair cost came in at less than half of what the original shop had quoted me and it didn’t need a new engine. When I took it back for some minor adjustments Jon drove me to a rental car agency and paid for a rental vehicle for a few days while he fine tuned my vehicle! I cant say enough about Jon and his knowledge and experience with Mini’s .He now has a customer for life and I will tell anyone that will listen to take their Mini to Jon at Miniworx! He is has honest and trustworthy as you will ever find!!! Great job Jon! and Thank You MiniWorx!!!

I was on the 405 near Huntington Beach and my 2005 r53 went into limp mode. I had it towed to MiniWorx late at night and dropped the key in the deposit box. (This is my first experience with MiniWorx. It was recommended to me by my neighbor).
I called John in the morning and let him know which trouble codes I was getting and some pre-​existing issues with my car. He told me they would do an inspection and get back to me in the afternoon. He called me later, explaining the problems, and then told me that if I was ok with the cost of the repair, he would have it fixed by the next day. WOW, a 2 day turn around time?
Next day rolls around. He calls me saying they are almost done with the car and I can come and get it. I paid for it over the phone since John wasn’t going to be there at the time of pick-​up. (Cost was expensive but way less than the dealership.)
I was sincerely impressed by the level of respect and professionalism John shows. He never tried to up-​sell me on anything. In fact, I told him that I wanted the pre-​existing problems with my car fixed. My experience with him suggests he is a NO GIMMICK, NO EXCUSE kind of guy.

I can’t believe I was lucky enough to be recommended to this place. Amazing customer service, broke down everything for me and explained what was wrong and why I needed it fixed. Also I explained I was really tight on money since I just got a new job after being out of work for the past 6 months. I couldn’t believe how helpful they were! They explained what I could wait to get fixed and what what had to be down asap. I had already taken it to the mini dealership for service and they were going to charge 4 times as much and they would neare d the car for at least a week, they did it for a quarter of that and in one day! Amazing, absolutely! I won’t take my mini any where else now! Amazing service!

Honest mechanic who truly cares about and knows Mini. I had a hard time finding a mechanic I could trust to service my Mini Cooper as I did not want to take it to the dealer because they are so expensive. I found MiniWorx on Unilocal and am so glad that I did. John and his team are amazing and take good care of my baby. He works on nothing but Mini and does excellent work without «recommending» work that does not need to be done. Another shop said I needed over $ 5k in repairs but John confirmed that was all untrue. MiniWorx is the ONLY shop that I trust for my car, I would definitely recommend this place.

This is my go-​to MINI mechanic. These guys are great. I knew I could trust them when I had a $ 5k+ repair that the dealer wanted to charge me. I went to MiniWorx to get comparative pricing & they basically refused my money & told me I should be able to get it fixed for free because its a common problem (that should be a recall) & gave me a pep talk (reminded me of that scene of Mr. Incredible helping that lil old lady out @the insurance company). Anyways, I’ve done comparative pricing on other large repairs I’ve had since & the quotes are always way less here than the dealer. If you have a MINI & it needs some TLC, you should go here :)
