Let Go Of Your Lawn

This is not for a review of service, because we never got that far. After seeing some of Dru’s work in my neighborhood I sent an email inquiry. He replied back rather quickly and asked for some additional information which I sent … and that is where my story ends. He has yet to reply back. I followed up a few days later … radio silence (can you hear the crickets) and that was nearly two weeks ago. As 1-​star on Unilocal says … Eek! Methinks not.

Although Drew was very nice, whoever did the design did not do a good job picking plants. My yard now looks terrible because some plants have flourished and others have died. One plant also apparently was not a perennial because it grew to full size, then died.

Where do I begin this review… I guess by saying that I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the work Let Go Of Your Lawn does!!! If you want to do your part to help our state’s drought situation you MUST hire Dru!
With in 5 mins of talking to Dru on the phone I knew he was the guy for the job. I had such a wonderful 1^st conversation with Dru! It was refreshing to hear his passion for his work & I could tell he was excited to see how he could help me out. We set up an appointment for that next Saturday (I think I spoke to him on a Tuesday).
Our meeting with Dru was awesome! He was enthusiastic about the services he provides & was completely receptive to the ideas my husband & I had. I made it VERY Clear that I wanted my yards to look colorful & lush. I felt that Dru really understood how important it was for me to have an inviting environment for my kids to play in. He was very knowledgable with how the CA rebate worked & was very through in explaining the entire process. Dru delivered our estimate when he said he would & we had him submit our request for the CA rebate immediately.
The ONLY delay we had was on the state’s behalf. After looking over all my emails I realized that it took the state about 2 months to give us our pre-​approval BUT it was worth the wait because we received the FULL rebate we applied for! We received our approval on 5÷28÷2015 & I was shocked when Dru told me he could have the job started on ⁶⁄₆ & completely finished the following day. We finalized the design plan & agreed to have the job started on ⁶⁄₆. I have to mention that I had plans to be away from home the entire 1^st day of the job but Dru assured me that won’t be a problem.
Friday before the job started: plants were delivered right on time. The delivery guy wasn’t the most friendly but he did his job well. He went over the plant checklist with me to insure I had all the plants we ordered. Initially I thought «wow that is NOT a lot of plants at all! I hope our yards don’t look naked!» (Pleas finish this LONG review to read about the end product!)
Day 1 of the job: we let our home before the crew arrived to start (5AM) & returned around 5:30PM to find that BOTH the front yard & back Yard were more that ½ way done. The guys worked until about 7PM. I was very pleased to find that the crew kept a very neat & clean work area. I’ve had bad experiences with extremely untidy construction crews so I was SO happy that Dru’s guys kept it tidy!
Day 2 of the job: the guys arrived around 7:30AM & quickly got to work. I could tell that the guys had a good working relationship by how quickly & efficiently the work was done. They were very professional, knew exactly what needed to be done & didn’t waste time. And they kindly answered the few questions I had. I took my family grocery shopping around 1PM & returned around 2:30PM to find both our FY & BY were done.
We could not believe how amazing our FY & BY turned out. I have to admit that I was worried that in the end I would just like the results but I’m happy to share that I LOVE the final product! We decided to spend a little money out of pocket to add the gravel pads in both the FY & BY & it was money WELL spent! Yes the plants have some major growing to do BUT I know that it’s going to look amazing. Our lot size is large but after Dru’s crew finished both our FY & BY look significantly larger! I cannot wait to update this review in a few months to share how well our drought tolerant plants are filling in. I FINALLY have the yard of my dreams. I truly never thought we would be able to afford such a beautiful landscape but thanks to Let Go Of Your Lawn our dreams have become reality!

I was semi-​interested in removing the lawn of our new house for a more drought tolerant landscape — but my Midwestern roots wouldn’t allow me to convert to one of the depressing rock gardens with 2 or 3 sad sprouts coming out of it like the one done down the street from me by Turf Terminators. Lucky for me I was referred to Dru, who quickly responded to my request, came out to do a free estimate and heard my concerns about a lack of color and life. His design (which was completely within the rebate cost) was amazing, colorful, plentiful and exciting. Just what I needed to see to take the plunge. He was always responsive and after the rebate was approved had the full job done in two days without fuss or muss — and delivered exactly as promised! I couldn’t be happier and I am SO excited to see how our new, low maintenance front lawn grows and progresses!!!

Let Go of your Lawn replaced our front and back yard grass with drought tolerant plants in January 2015. Dru at Let Go of your Lawn navigated us through the whole process, including applying for the LADWP rebate on our behalf, creating a design, helping us choose plants (we were able to choose exactly what we wanted, but he made very good suggestions and recommendations), letting us know all the options available (for example, we wanted to create a more expensive walkway, so we opted for smaller plants to defray that cost), and completing all the work in one weekend. The entire cost of our project will be covered by the LADWP rebate and we have gotten a very positive response from our friends and neighbors — even people ringing the doorbell to ask who did the work! Dru is very pleasant, easy-​going, responsive, and truly cares about the work that he does.

This seemed a little too-​good-​to-​true at first, but Dru was a champ and walked us through the whole process of getting pre-​approved for a lawn rebate, designing and executing our new drought-​tolerant landscape. His team delivered what they promised on schedule and he was responsive about answering any questions we had. We’re now happy to be saving water and money with a yard full of California native plants.
