Gold Island

Got these for my kids. Very nicely crafted and the price was reasonable. Thank you Gold Island for making our trip memorable.

We have been purchasing jewelry from Christine at Gold Island for at least 11 years and her warm and genuine service to please us, keeps us coming back. If she doesn’t have what we want, she will most certainly get it for us, and it’s alway quality. She recently, with great care and consultation, custom designed my anniversary ring, which is spectacular. She’s highly knowledgeable and professional and every piece we have purchased at Gold Island is beautiful, of great quality and we are exceptionally pleased! Me and my brother went there to get gifts for our girlfriends, the staff was nice and courteous. We bought a pair of coral earrings set in 14k gold and a sterling silver necklace with an Opal turtle. Since we were kids they gave us a bulk price deal which was over half of originally marked and cheaper than other stores. I was overall satisfied with the experience.

we bought a beautiful diamond and black pearl necklace from christine in 2009. the price was great and we enjoyed the overall buying experience. then we started coming back to maui every year and purchased several additional pieces from them, including having some earrings designed to my specifications.
we have always been very happy with the price and the service. my wife gets a lot of compliments on the design and when close friends have asked us about the price they are always surprised at how good it was… particularly since one would assume that buying at a resort destination would command a hefty premium.
in regards to the service, we really enjoy shopping there. they take great care of us and we trust them to clean and repair our items as needed. (it’s a family run store and her nephew anthony is one who does the repairs.)
anyhow, the reason i’m posting this review is largely because i happened to see the three negative reviews on this store and nothing positive. so i thought i should chime in with our experience. we’ve been doing business with this store for over 5 years and are very happy to continue to do so! :)

I bought my wife’s engagement there, as well as our wedding bands. I’ve always dealt with Christine.
Today I went in to buy a replacement wedding band for myself, as I’ve misplaced my own.
Christine was not there. Instead, I was served my a petite, fast talking lady who insisted that they did not have my size… a 10 ¾ white gold band.
She did not offer to order one for me, make a phone call, look around or anything.
Considering I’ve spent over 10K in this store, you’d think they would want to help me out and keep me as a customer.
You’d be wrong!
Never going back. They suck!

I bought a toe ring and then I exchanged it for a more expensive one and paid the difference but the second one I purchase did not fit so when I wanted to exchange it for another one that was less money they would not refund me the difference that I already paid for the more expensive one. Christine told me that sizing was FREE but when I wanted the difference in the money she then told me that the sizing would be 25.00. I felt that they took advantage of me now that I was back in Ca. They kept my money. She lied to me and we had been e-​mailing each other but when I called her out on the money and the sizing she stopped e-​mailing me. Just make sure if you buy something from them it is real gold and real diamonds. I will never go to them again. Can’t trust them!!!

Bought a diamond ring at this business for my wife while on Maui vacation. A few months after returning home she went to get it cleaned at a local jeweler whose policy it was to use a diamond tester before taking the ring. In front of my wife they tested it, and it turns out the diamonds were not real… they were moissanite,
We called the Gold Island Store, but they said we would need to bring the ring in. So, we went back to the store on our next trip to the island that year, receipt in hand. The girl at the counter was very sweet… she pulled out the diamond tester and sure enough, not real. She went to another drawer and pulled out another diamond tester to double check, same result… moissinaite! Then the owner came out, looking very concerned, he said they ONLY SELL DIAMONDS, no moissanite. We asked why did it test as synthetic then? He said all the diamond testers in the store were broken or needed new batteries, and that we were wrong. The girl spoke up and offered to get another diamond tester from the back of the store, but the owner yelled at her that «all diamond testers were broken», and then waved her to go into the back. He told us she was just started that day, so she was not knowledgeable about diamonds or testers. (Hmmm, if she had just started that day, how did she easily know where all the diamond testers were?)
This place is crooked. They rely on tourists who may never come back to the island to buy their fakes. Avoid it.
