Maui Shore Fishing Guides, LLC is the premier provider of professional, authentic, exciting shore fishing and surf fishing excursions on Maui. If you love to fish, have a sense of adventure, and desire to see pristine parts of Maui off the beaten path then we’re the guides for you! We specialize in intimate guided 4, 5, or 6 hour trips for one to four anglers. Fully insured with safety our first priority; we fish anywhere from a beautiful white sand beach to a secluded rocky shoreline.

History

Established in 2013.

Brian has been a fishing guide on the charter boats out of Lahaina Harbor since 2006. He also loves to fish from shore. He saw an opportunity to guide visitors who also like to fish from shore. Shore fishing charters is a great option for people who may not want to go out on a boat or be able to experience both. Brian wanted to create a full service company that would cater to any level of fishing experience and physical ability. He’s great with kids and can take adult and child age 9 and above.

Your guide, Brian Edmisson has been fishing all over Maui since 2000 and has led guided trips since 2006. He loves all kinds of fishing; trolling for big game fish, bottom fishing, live bait down rigging, catching kahala (amberjack) from his kayak or uku (gray snapper) from his stand up paddle board and definitely papio and omilu from shore! His love affair started from very young and his passion continues to grow as he constantly seeks to find his next exciting fishing adventure. My wife and I decided that we wanted to do something different this time on Maui. We were fortunate to come across Brian who is a heck of a great guy and not to mention is a great fishing guide. He is very patient, has terrific fishing gear and put us on to some fish. If you are looking for a laid back guy and educational fishing type experience go with Brian. Not to mention he has a great sense of humor. Will will fish with him again.

My 7 y at old daughter loves to fish and Christmas week this shore fishing experience was perfect for her and I. That is because Brian is a great guide. I have used guide services 5 times now in different parts of the world and Brian knows what he is doing.
He started out covering the types of fish, cool facts, then drove is out to a hidden gem of a spot that would be great for my daughter. He told her the basics and really made sure she was thinking through the steps and actions. 7 minutes later she caught a lovely Trevally. 2.5 hours later she had caught 8 fish including Christmas Wrasse, Triggerfish, and more. A couple of these Brian got on the line as he fished too and then handed the pole for her to bring, about half.
For me he showed me three different setups and each was productive. The prize fish was an aggressive Trumpet fish about four feet long.
I appreciated Brian being so nice, sharing his 15 years of experience, brining drinks and fresh pineapple, and teaching quite a bit. After each catch he told us about the fish, how to hold it (many have unique «knives» and other sharp bones to fight with; this is not like going trout fishing.

My son and I scheduled a five hour guided shore fishing trip with Brian, and we found him to be a true professional and obviously in love with what he does. Booking our trip was very easy, and we looked forward to the day with great anticipation. Brian arrived at our condo promptly at 6:30 AM, and drive us to our fishing spot in Kapalua about five minutes away. He gave us some basic information for our safety and success, set up our gear, and got us on the water with little delay. We tried a number of tactics, using bait, plugs, and poppers, and caught a small reef fish before my son scored the fish of the day, a 2 – 3 pound blue fin trevally. All in all, a great day with a charming guide in a place that sets the bar pretty high for scenic beauty. I would highly recommend Brian for fishermen of any skill level looking for a day away from the standard Maui fare.

I’ve utilized lots of Professional guides in my travels over the past 20 years, and I’m giving Brian a solid 5 Star rating. This guy not only provides everything you could possibly need during a fishing trip, but also provides local knowledge, history and deep detail on every species landed. My buddy Mike and I spent the day in Wailea shore fishing, and could not have had a better experience. Brian is extremely hands on with tips, technique and encouragement, perfect for any novice or experienced angler. Today we went fishing with Brian at 6:00 am. We scheduled to do a four hour trip, but had SO much fun that we decided to extend it to a five hour trip. Brian brought special shoes and supplied all of the gear! His fishing spot was REALLY great, very secluded. The minute we dropped the first bait in we got a bite. (an average needlefish) He showed my 10 year old daughter how to cast the line, by the end of the trip she could cast expertly. Brian lets you do most of the fishing and only jumps in if your having trouble. Overall, we caught three needlefish, five goatfish, one blue fin crevalle, and a gray snapper. Ten fish in all!!! Great instructor and great catches, Definitely Recommend

Brian is super knowledgeable and passionate about fishing. I was really excited to take my 9 year old son who loves fishing, but gets motion sickness on boats. This was the perfect solution, Brian picked us up and took us to a beautiful location nearby. He has great equipment and kept us busy with lines in the water almost the entire time. We didn’t catch the big one (although we did catch a blowfish), but we caught a half dozen or so smaller fish. Most important, my kid (who actually paid for part of the expense) left with a smile on his face. Highly recommended!

Three of us went. Bryan was easy going and did a great job helping us fish. He was always there to help put bait on and take fish off the hook for us. Bryan had reef shoes and all the gear for us. Very knowledgeable and informative guide. we each caught around 5 fish. None of them were large, but it was great to catch a variety of fish. We all had a lot of fun. We will go again in the future. Thanks Bryan for a great morning of fishing. Learned some new methods to try at home as well.

My family went shore fishing for the first time and loved it! Our family has never gone fishing together. It was so much fun. The morning was perfect. Brian was so genuine & knowledgable. It was great to pick his brain about fishing & the island. I highly recommend Brian for beginners to pros… he knows all the spots and plus he’s just like your buddy. Such a memorable time. I booked two days with Brian and he was the consummate professional in every aspect of guiding. From the equipment, to his knowledge of the local waters, gamefish and his attention to your safety, Brian will provide you with all the knowledge and skills necessary to catch fish on the shores and reefs of Maui. If you plan on doing any fishing while on the island, do yourself a favor and spend a day with Brian. After you spend a few hours with him, it was as if you were fishing buddies for many years.

My wife and I did the shore fishing tour with Brian today. Brian is very friendly and knowledgeable. He took us to a couple of his favorite spots near Kapalua, which was a quick 10 minute drive from our place in Kaanapali. We were fishing right away using a variety of techniques including live bait, squid strips, and lures. Landed three gamefish (jack, trevally) and had several other good bites that got away. He takes care of all the details: equipment, rubber boots (necessary to walk on the lava), wet weather gear, water and snacks, and filleted the fish for us. He was also helpful with suggestions on how to fish on our own should we want to do some more fishing later in the trip. A very fun morning. Highly recommended.

Went fishing with Brian once and had such a great time we booked him again a couple of days later. Knowledgable, friendly, patient, accommodating and very professional would be how I would describe him. He took us to some fantastic areas north of Lahaina and got us on to fish. We caught 8 or 10 fish both days with him.
He provides everything – poles, bait, tackle, waters, juices and a snack. It was perfect for my son and I.
We come to Maui at least once a year. I doubt there will be a trip again when we don’t book Brian. I really think he’s that good.

My boyfriend and I went out with Brian June 15th and didn’t know what to expect as we never fished from shore. Thanks to Brian, it was fish on and on and on all morning long. We were at a beautiful spot, catching four different types of the most amazing fish I have ever seen, trying different techniques and rods. This trip was the most memorable time on my vacation.

Brian is the perfect guide for folks that do not know the area. I went today (9-​9-​2013). He said 6 am and he was there waiting for us in the lobby of our hotel before we walked down. I was fishing with my elderly father-​in-​law and Brian made the trip completely enjoying for him. This was a family trip with special meaning and my father-​in-​law can now say he fished Hawaii. Brian has knowledge of fishing and the local area as well. A great 5 hour day. Did not bring home dinner but caught fish with a few that got away. This is the guide you need. If I had another trip this week I know exactly whom to call.
