Okay, so I got confused… blame it on the pregnancy brain. I thought this was the deli, BUT the deli is on the backside of the building. But regardless, the general store has some tasty food offerings as well. My favorite is their pork hash and POG slushy. I could have these as snacks every day. For those not familiar with pork hash, it is essentially equivalen to shu mai or pork dumplings. They has have manapua… which is the equivalent to a char siu(pork) steamed bun. Both the pork hash and manapua are delicious! They also have fried chicken… which we tried as well… but I would probably skip this item since it wasn’t quite as moist as I would like. The flavor was there… but not the best fried chicken I’ve had even for a convenience store. If you are hankering for some more local food items, go around back to the deli, they have more of the local food(i.e. beef stew, hamburger and gravy, chow fun, etc).

Hawaiian style«Lei’s» — betcha you can’t just eat one SPAMMUSUBI! The suppleness of the rice consistency and the adorable service from grandma is what makes this the favorite amongst kō onei poe. Come early as morning folks load up before they go to work. $ 1.79 everyday ;) *It is the same spam musubi as the deli in back.

We were looking for spam musubi, and I think we came here by mistake when looking for the Nagasako Okazu-Ya Deli. Anyways, the spam musubi here were awesome! They were piled up in a little basket next to the register, and we found the ratio of spam to rice to be just perfect. Also the shape was new to us; there is a thin slice of spam between two piles of rice, all wrapped in a piece of seaweed. In comparison, we had the spam musubi at Local Food, and didn’t like it as much, we found the spam too thick and the seaweed seasoning on the rice(comes in a little shaker at Japanese supermarkets) to be strange.

Good place to grab little cones of rice and musubi on the way to the airport!
