Ruth’s Chris Steak House

Nobody does steak better than Ruth Chris. Craig is usually waiter slash bartender. And when it comes to great service you float like a butterfly and sting like a bee.

Started off this year in Hawaii with a good old standby Ruth Chris. They are featuring a 50 th anniversary special meal, 3 course $ 55 for filet and lobster tail was excellent. More than enough portion size and well prepared great service as well. The rest of the week will be dining at Maui local favorites.

We wanted to grab dinner a little early so that we can catch the sunset afterwards. Our server, Katie was so pleasant which is why I gave three stars. My food on the other hand was a little disappointing. Bread basket they gave us was cold, salad dressing was a little watered down, and I asked for my steak well done, but it was still red inside.
You go to these steakhouses thinking you can enjoy the steak just by itself, but I had to ask for A1 sauce to cover up the taste

My husband and I frequent Ruth’s Chris in almost any city we happen to be in and they have a location. We’ve been to San Diego, palm desert, Anaheim, Puerto Rico, (on vacation we actually went 2 nights in a row because it was soooo amazing) and now here in Lahaina. One reason we frequent is we can always count on a fantastic steak and great service. Lahaina’s location has been my least favorite of all we’ve been to. The food was ok, but some of my favorite dishes weren’t on the menu like the dynamite lobster. Plus they don’t offer the regular prefix menu that most locations offer. They only had one, a petit filet and lobster tail. I always add the blue cheese crumble to my steak. However, this time they put A LOT of blue cheese, way more than I’ve typically experienced which made the steak a little too salty. It was still good, but just not the same. The lobster tail addition was tasty and mine was hearty (my husband’s was half the size of mine). Our waiter was really nice and did a great job, but the guy bussing tables and filling water looked like he was pissed off, never cracking a smile. We were celebrating my birthday while on vacation and so they did bring us some strawberries that were flaming, that was a nice touch! The bread pudding that came with the 1 prefix option was delicious. Overall I was a bit disappointed and can understand why the restaurant was empty at 7:30 pm! I wouldn’t return to this location.

Amazing! Overall an excellent experience! They know how to cook a steak! All of the food was amazing! Our server, Bob was fantastic and excellent at his job! The entire customer service experience was flawless! Highly highly recommend a stop in!

Matt Hernandez was exceptional!!! He was on point all night!!! It was my fiancés birthday dinner. The food was unreal good!!! We had a terrible experience at sugar cane grill the night before and this guy made my Hawaian dining experience great! Highly recommend Ruth Chris!!! The food was so hot coming out! Great dining experience!

Completely enjoyed dinner from beginning to end! Our waiter Craig was perfect and anticipated our every need we absolutely loved this meal and will come back next time we are in Maui!

1– Bruce the manager runs a good crew and was attentive to his crew and his guests. Katie-​belle our waitress was lovely and never in a rush to talk with us about menu and also misc since we were visiting Maui. Luke Katie– belle ‘s assistant was attentive. Our water glasses were always full and table always clear, the two together communicated great.
2– steaks were great I actually haven’t had a steak this good in a few years (Filet minon). Sides were acceptional loved the crab cakes. Overall hopefully staff will be able to read this and know what a wonderful job they did.

The wedge salad is crisp and fresh, the spinach salad is so perfectly flavored with spinach, onions, mushrooms and small cherry tomatoes. The crispy bacon on both salads add such deep flavor. We ordered the baked potato with the works on the side and the sweet potato mash. Also the house corn was sweet and delicious.
The bone in rib eye was perfectly cooked rate on s sizzling plate with butter and salt true to the Ruth Chris tradition.
When you hear the sizzling plates and smell the bitter you know your delicious steak has arrived.
Ok my favorite was the sweet potato with pecan and brown sugar topping. I would have that for dessert any day!

It’s nice to see a later happy hour available on Maui (5−7pm). While it’s not the cheapest of happy hours, the food is amazing (we got the Oysters Rockefeller and Crab-​stuffed Mushrooms. YUM) and totally worth it, especially if you’re looking for a good date night happy hour spot since the ambiance is a little nicer than any other regular happy hour spot you might visit. The bartender was extremely attentive, even with a full bar top and a few tables he had to tend to, he was super timely and friendly, what more could you ask for!

My husband and I ordered the oysters Rockefeller which were fantastic. We also ordered the filet and ribeye which were cooked perfectly. Mushrooms and potatoes au gratin were divine. Service was beyond excellent. We were seated in a cozy red leather booth, loved the atmosphere, service couldn’t have been any better. Great dining experience.

Let me start by saying, they cook an amazing steak. Their sides on the other hand leave something to be desired. Do not, I repeat, do NOT order the lobster stuffed mushrooms. Unless of course you like rich fishy flavored food. The $ 15 house salad doesn’t look like a lot when they bring it out, but it is. It was good and had a lot of flavor dimensions but wasn’t amazing.
Okay, on to the steak. YUM. I had the filet, cooked medium rare and it came closer to rare but I knew that when I ordered it. My boyfriend had the NY Strip and it was amazing as well.
I ordered a pineapple margarita and it was blended horribly. I felt like I was eating ice chips from the hospital. Our server was very nice but we told them when we booked the reservation that we were celebrating our anniversary and they didn’t acknowledge it at all.
We will probably come back and order only steak next time.

Like always never disappointed eating at Ruth Chris Steakhouse the food was amazing the views were amazing and the staff was great I only wish they opened earlier anyone that thinks they’re just another big franchise has got it wrong I have eaten at a lot of high and steak places and Ruth Chris this still my number one

I have tried multiple Ruth’s Chris across the country, and this was an interesting experience. The service was very surface level, not full of personality. The T-​bone steak special was full of gristle and our side of island style corn was extremely undercooked and was barely swallowable. The mashed potatoes lacked flavor. Definitely not the best experience this time.

Arrived at this location and was welcomed with warm, friendly, and courteous service. We were celebrating a birthday and it was great to be treated so nicely.
For dinner, we ordered the calamari to start, the ribeye and lamb chops as a main course, along with mac n cheese, the steakhouse salad, and mashed potatoes to accompany the meal. The food was very flavorful and cooked to perfection.
If you are in Lahaina and looking to have a wonderful night out with some delicious food, you should definitely stop by.
P.S ! We were survived strawberries on fire for desert as a birthday treat. Amazing!

Such a joy to dine in such a fabulous restaurant!!! WOW there was a 50-​anniversary special when I was there, and it was amazing. A salad with. I don’t remember but it was delicious. A perfectly cooked filet mignon (medium) and a lobster tail. First time I had lobster and it was fantastic. And the bread pudding for dessert. DELICIOUS! First time I had bread pudding. Thank you Ruth Chris– the service was wonderful and the hot plates are the best. Loved it, would give it 10 stars if I could.

I have elaborated on the merits of Ruth’s Chris in other reviews… but the short version is that for a huge chain they maintain an amazing level of service and consistency in quality.
They also drown their steaks in butter, which makes them next to impossible not to love.
Each of the locations has more or less the same menu — but there are a few variations from location to location — for example this one has the signature gumbo — that you do not see everywhere.
The manager of this location was exceedingly kind and attentive — the service was impeccable.
They keep the darker Ruths Chris vibe — but do have lovely views of the Warf visible through panoramic & a reddish & painted wood pane windows. Really classic and elegant.

A nice cool indoor happy hour spot with a view of the ocean and sunset. Happy hour is on the higher end. Happy hour M-​F 5−7pm, one of the later happy hours on the island. The Rockefeller oysters were delicious and the stuffed mushrooms were juicy. The Mixed drinks were okay, nothing mouth watering, but it did the job. The service was great, they kept our glass full and table clean. Definitely would go back again.

David, the bartender, is not only amazing, but truly one of the hardest workers on the island, they are lucky to have him — He literally runs the entire bar area no problem. Kudos David and nice to see you again — we recognized him from a few years ago!
