He is also a farmer, taro grower, sculptor, author, and the former director of UH Maui College’s Institute of Hawaiian Music.

Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar is a traditional Hawaiian style of playing bass, rhythm, and lead on one guitar using one of many open tunings. It usually accompanies vocals, but can be instrumental. George plays a 12-string because he likes the full sound and heavier bass of this instrument.
