The Care of Trees

These guys were paid off by a Texas based developer to clear cut 61 mature oaks from the borderline of our neighborhood. These trees were mature and healthy averaging 75 feet high, serving as a natural buffer between our neighborhood and highway 41.
Once that big fat check cleared from the developer they were out in force chopping down the trees EVEN without the appropriate permits in the developers possession. To these guys it was all about the $$band nothing more.
What a complete travesty.

We requested that our silver maple be «trimmed» only to come home to see half of our tree gone. There was no communication after they started to ask us if it was «OK» to remove large bases in the tree that were signature to the tree. As a result, we have a large ugly tree located in a prime location to our new patio. The Care of Trees shared that there was early detection of disease… Of course there is… It is over 100 years old! When we called to complain, they became very defensive. After the manager finally returned our calls, he later mailed us pictures of the large trunks they removed with very small spots in the center. Now we have a butchered tree that we are researching how to commission a big piece of art to cover the damage, as well as figure out how to grow ivy to cover the missing center trunks. I would recommend that no one hire this company unless you are standing with them the entire time saying «no» or «yes» to each branch or tree trunk.

I contacted Care of Trees last week to book an assessment of 2 trees that need to be removed from my yard. They offered to send someone to my home on Tuesday 6÷16÷15 at 7:30 AM so we could meet and discuss options before work, which I genuinely appreciated. I received an email confirmation with the date and time.
Patrick never showed on that date. After waiting 40 minutes I contacted the office and was informed they had me listed for that time on Wednesday ⁶⁄₁₇. I understand mix-​ups can happen, so no real harm done.
I waited 40 minutes again this morning with no word from Patrick or The Care of Trees office, so I called to cancel the request for an estimate.
I can’t imagine trusting these guys to remove the branches hanging precariously over my house if they can’t even show up on time.

I started working with The Care of Trees when remodeling our a home. We wanted to remove an ailing tree & were required to consult with a Certified Arborist to obtain a permit. We consulted with Patrick Etherington & found him to be very informative, professional & responsive. They also were familiar with what the city codes & requirements would be & great in assisting us with the permit process. We have had Patrick & his team perform multiple jobs (i.e., removal of a large tree, extensive pruning and preventative care of large trees). In all cases I found the service to be excellent & reasonable. Everyone at the company was respectful, polite & efficient. I highly recommend this company.
