I wasn’t planning on grabbing some BBQ this afternoon, but after my lengthy afternoon of browsing and buying, Burney’s was right there and I decided to get some to go. I had the Texas Red Chilli. It was incredibly spicy, I had to add cheese and sour crème to tone down the hotness to an acceptable eating temperature(spice wise). My friend had the ribs and she said they were ‘just ok.’ I had a side of Mac & Cheese, which is my downfall, but this M&C tasted just like Kraft M&C. Not that that’s bad, it just isn’t good. Service was fine, the girl who waited on us was friendly and helpful. Overall, it’s just ok. I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat this BBQ.

Like a lot of other people have said this is really more of a 2 ½ star deal. I’ve been on the lookout for decent bbq in Seattle and since I was already nearby I decided to give this place a try. Decided to go with the BBQ slider meal(3 small sandwiches and side) to get a idea of what their menu tasted like. The food came out pretty quickly but was a little disappointing. I realize sliders by definition aren’t very big but for 13 $ I was expecting a little more meat on each one. The brisket was pretty decent and the chicken had a nice texture too it but I didn’t feel like I got more than bite or two of each. The pulled pork was downright bland, even with the«spicy» bbq on it there was very little flavor. The cornbread was ok but tasted like it came from a mix. If I’m nearby I might eat here again but honestly I just didn’t feel like it was worth the money…

This place deserves no stars. It was absolutely horrific. The cashier had an awful attitude and the food was absolutely terrible. I was with two friends who were both extremely displeased with their meals as well. The potato salad was kind of ok, but everything else was absolutely horrible. The mac and cheese tastes like water, their bacon cheeseburger was a joke, and the meat for their bbq sandwiches was embarrassing. The french fries were underseasoned and overcooked, and for the price, they should be ashamed. I will never go here again, and I don’t recommend anyone else to do so.

This was a bad experience all around. Service: was terrible they didn’t care? I had to ask for BBQ Sauce for a half rack of ribs, then they gave me a tiny plastic cup that most places use for salad dressing. Food: the ribs were ok meat wise besides the one I put a picture of up that was all fat on bone no meat. The baked potato was good it’s hard to mess up a potato. Go elsewhere I would suggest.

Here’s the strange case of «I want this place to be better than it is». With the loss of El Oso and the Phở place in the Third Place Commons, all that remains is Honey Bear, Burney Brothers, and Kitto Teriyaki. Unfortunately, Burney Brothers is the weakest player in the Commons’ food offerings. I ordered a brisket, spicy, which came up hot and fast. The meat was flavorful, but terribly oily and with too much fatty content. The bun is the density and consistency of a Krispy Kreme donut, not substantial enough to aid in the handling of the sandwich-to-mouth motion. They need denser, more substantial buns, with some rock salt on the brisket buns, more meat per serving, and of a higher quality. I want these

We went to Third place books to walk around and have lunch last weekend. We saw the BBQ booth and thought, that sounds good. well we ordered two kids meals(wanted the mac and cheese but they were sold out) so we settled on burgers. Then they do not have a gluten free option so my husband ordered also a burger, no bun… I ordered the BBQ chicken, with corn bread. In total the meal was around $ 37. for lunch… gulp. Ok the meals come out and the kids food is a handful of fries and HALF a burger each, which was burned and over cooked beyond recognition. My husband was one of the same just a full sized(super small) burger no bun and handful of fries. The only star I am giving this meal was my BBQ chicken sandwich which was pretty yummy.

So again… Unilocal,it sure would be nice to be able to give half stars. I was torn between rating a 2 and a 3. Im going for a three star, giving the benefit of the doubt and kinda following the average. I ordered a dbl bbq burger with spicy sauce and completed it with the meal deal. Total was just over $ 10 for the meal. Not really worth it. I’ve gotten better burgers and meals for same or less(Rain City Burgers comes to mind in Roosevelt). Just to start, the gentleman behind the counter was nice enough. Had an air of being an owner of sorts. The burger was very small and the beef wasnt very flavorful. The fries were plentiful but of the frozen variety. And the drink was small and flat. I expected much more. It wasnt horrible food. Just boring. The bbq sauce was decently spicy, but tasted like a market brand. And im not a huge fan of liquid smoke. If you want to have smoke-flavored food… smoke it. Don’t do the liquid smoke thing. They serve Texas Red Chili here. I’m now not sure if I’ll order it in the future. I don’t want a bowl of liquid smoke or store bought chili sauce. We’ll see. I wont go out of my way to come here. But if I were in this center again and was hankerin for a burger, I’d eat here. Just lower my expectations. If you happen the be in Third Place Books, try the other restaurants first. True rating is 2.5 stars.

This place has tasty brisket and decent sides. The cornbread is not bad and goes well the fries they serve. I haven’t eaten anything besides the brisket, cornbread, and fries, so my knowledge of the rest of the menu is limited. My better half has had the chicken and she liked it. To be fair, I’m coming from a different point of view than other reviewers since I’m always on the lookout for good, Texas-style BBQ, which Burney Brothers delivers.

I was really craving a cheeseburger but didn’t want to do a fast food option so I figured I’d try Burney Brothers. I wasn’t blown away. Although I did like my food, I felt the service sucked. My burger did taste like it came of a barbeque. The fries weren’t bad, nice a crisp. But the guy taking my order acted like he couldn’t understand what I was even saying. I speak very clearly and don’t mumble. So I don’t know if he just struggles with English or what. Maybe he should be behind the scenes. And even though it wasn’t really busy, everyone was over at the bakery next to it, it still took my food forever. When they finally called my name, he practically threw it on the counter and I reminded him I ordered a soda and he said, «Yeah I know!» …Well okay you just gave me my tray and said, «Have a good day.» I don’t think you know buddy. Don’t think I’ll be back. Its a shame. The food court has real potential, it needs to deliver.

I stopped there for lunch today. It’s overpriced & not very good — keeping on par with the other restaurants at LFP mall. Why can’t they have good food there? It’s such a fun place! Service: The lady up front looked like she wished she was anywhere but there. Food: I had the brisket sandwich, my son had the pulled pork. It’s $ 7 for a sandwich(no sides, drink etc) which is rather overpriced. ESPECIALLY when you see what you get. It was a burger bun(which was way too soft to support the meat) with what looked like canned dog food — gelatinous goo and all. They hadn’t even bothered to take the 3 seconds it would have taken to spread the meat around so it wouldn’t look like it came straight from a can. I tried both — they lacked flavor and didn’t have enough sauce on them to cover up for the lack. Both sandwiches had huge globs of fat which we ended up spitting up into napkins. Recommendation: Go elsewhere.

Our bopping around today took as past the Lake Forest Park Town Centre, and, as it was slightly past lunch time, we had not yet eaten, and our stomachs were starting to complain, we decided to stop in and grab a bite a their food court. We had our handy dandy Entertainment Book with us, and a coupon therein offered a two-for-one meal at Burney Brothers BBQ. We had never been there there and we both like BBQ, so decided to give it a try. I’m sorry to say we were both less than impressed. I ordered the pulled chicken with a side of beans. I expect pulled chicken to actually be cooked in a sauce. But, this was not. It was grilled, slightly dry meat, on a bun, topped with a dollop of less-than-stellar sauce. We were not offered a choice of sauce spiciness, as I also would have expected; so I guess what we got is what everybody gets. The beans were pretty flavorless. It would have been nice to have a condiment bar of some sort — offering different types of hot sauces, etc. — as is found at most BBQ places. I then at least could have jazzed the beans up a bit. But, alas, none was to be found. My husband had a sliced turkey sandwich with a side of mac ‘n cheese. He also found his meal to be less than inspired. Because we had the Entertainment Book coupon, our total bill was only about $ 10 before tax(our«meal» also included a drink each), so we did not feel like we overspent. But, I think the normal price of $ 10 each would have been too much for what we got. In short, glad we gave it a try as we’d noticed this place in the past and kept saying we should do so sometime. But, next time we are in the area, we’ll no doubt give this place a miss.

Tried the brisket; it was bland and sort of warm. The barbecue sauce was on the side. I hope these folks never try to open a barbecue in the south because they would have a riot on their hands! I did not really consider this barbecue, just nondescript food with some odd sauce on the side.

I stopped at this place because I was already in Third Place Books and I love pulled pork. I tried to like it, but this place was a rip off. Maybe I’m just used to a higher caliber of bbq because I lived in the midwest for almost three years… but for $ 8 all I got was Lloyd-style pulled pork on a sesame seed burger bun! No thanks, I can make that myself at home. And at least at home I don’t have to deal with the attitude of the high schooler behind the counter. Save your money and your time and go to Dixie’s in Bellevue(The Man hot sauce!) if you want good BBQ. There, at least the price and attitude are warranted. :)

Was in the area on a whim today and tried the pulled pork sandwich deal. You get the sandwich and a side(no drink) for $ 7 or something like that, so it’s not a bad deal. I had mac and cheese and it was decent, nothing special. The pulled pork was good, pretty tender. The sauce wasn’t bad either, falling on the sweet side of the spectrum(but not too sweet). But as I seem to say in half the reviews I do, the disappointing part was the bread they used. It was just a plain hamburger bun warmed up, not even toasted. Why does no one have decent bread? Is it that hard to find? Apparently so. Not an area I hang out in a lot, but I would be willing to go back and try the potatoes everyone is raving about and perhaps some ribs.

Not bad. Not bad at all, for a food court BBQ joint. The burgers look sorta lame but the brisket sandwich was delish. It took a while to get my food though.

Very unimpressive. I had a brisket meal with mac-n-cheese and coleslaw. The coleslaw wasn’t fresh so it was limp and flavoriess. The mac-n-cheese was decent but nothing to sing about. The brisket, the very thing I went here for, was dry and flavorless. The bbq sauce had a horrid spice mix and the meat was better without it. My fiancé had a pulled pork sandwich and he didn’t care that much for it either. When you go to places like Teddy Bear BBQ, you know to expect better and that’s why this place got 2 stars. Meh. I’ve experienced better.

Perhaps I’ve been spoiled with having RoRo’s so close to home and I get good authentic Texas BBQ when I go back to visit family… I’m always down with trying a new BBQ joint as the opportunity arises. This afternoon, I took my man to explore the world of Third Place and, after splurging on some books we don’t really need, we decided to check out the food options. I was torn between the Mexican place and this Burney Bros. BBQ and so went with the BBQ just cuz I saw how they mentioned that they’re from Texas and wanted to bring some of the South up to the NW. I ordered the BBQ chicken sandwich with a side of mac & cheese and cole slaw. Now, the BBQ chicken sandwich was pretty damn good. Nice and moist and flavorful, the BBQ sauce they used was really great and I had requested a small cup of the spicy sauce to try out which was equally good. I was pretty pumped about the size and overall greatness of the sandwich as a whole. Then I tried my mac & cheese — it was mush and had little or no flavor. You know the kind that clumps together and sticks to your throat when you try to swallow? Yeah, that’s what I’m talking about. Only about 3 – 4 bites in and I had had enough. Hey, at least they give you a decent portion size… Finally, I tried my cole slaw — it was also somewhat flavorless but it wasn’t all together awful. I enjoyed the simplicity of it and the fresh veggies so I got about 2⁄3 through my serving and I really have no complaints. It balanced the sandwich well and I’d probably get it again. My man got the BBQ pork sandwich and he had no complaints. He also got the mac & cheese and seemed to have no problem finishing it off.(yeck) He also got the cornbread which is totally what I should’ve done. I tried a bite and the sweet fresh bread tasted more like a dessert than a side dish. It was definitely the star of the side dish options(to note: he had to wait for his to come out of the oven so it was super hot and fresh and delicious.) I can’t give more than three stars mostly due to the prices of the food and the disappointing mac & cheese but if I go back and will just get a sandwich and the cornbread.

Ugh… Bland Que is NOT a good thing… I had the brisket sandwich, it was bland at best, no smoke ring on the meat, hence not much flavor to the meat, the sauce was just okay, I have had better. The meat texture was mealy, which I’d have to guess it was due to the meat being portioned out prior to serving and kept in a oven, maybe? Hard to say, the meat, was sad… and so was I! Starch-boy, our 14yo had a cheese burger, patty ala Costco or FSA, it was just okay. Slaw was decent, not much flavor, but it wasn’t soggy either, fries we good, beans came out of a can, I could see the #5 can on the shelf and their Texas competition chili? Well, let’s just say, boiled meat in a pot with no flavor doesn’t stand a chance in any competition! Seriously, the«chili» tasted like someone didn’t follow the entire recipe, it was so lacking flavor and there was no body to the chili itself, what a major disapointment. 2 stars for the fries and the fact they serve breakfast, in this tiny mall.

I was really excited when I found out that there was a bbq place so close to my home. We called in an order to go on a Sunday. We got: bbq ribs with a side of mac and cheese and corn bread, and then pulled pork and beef brisket with a side of cole slaw, and a side of baked beans. It came to around $ 25 for all. It was a good amount of food, but it wasn’t that good. The corn bread was tiny, and not a good value for $ 2.50. It was very good though, sweet and cake like. The baked beans were good, but they were baked beans. The cole slaw was bland, very very bland. It had no distinct flavor, just kind of soggy and tasteless. The mac and cheese would have been good if it had been salted. The brisket and pork had good flavor, but there were some really dry pieces. The ribs I felt were overcooked. They were falling off the bone, yet dry and chewy. They did provide a good bit of barbecue sauce, but I wasn’t crazy about the flavor. It’s definitely just a personal preference though. The sauce to me, had a pronounced flavor of celery seed. All of the food seemed as if it had been prepared the day before and had been sitting around. I doubt I would try Burney Brothers again. There was not one thing that was really good, nothing horrible, but not worth the money either.
