Master Choi rocks! He’s awesome. Can’t believe what he can do with my kids! Highly recommend this place!

When I started looking into martial arts for my son, the general consensus was that a great instructor is key. It’s more important than the type of martial arts, the location, the affiliation, etc. I trusted the great feedback on Unilocal about Master Choi, and have been VERY pleased. He is kind yet disciplined. He builds the kids up and gives them the confidence they need to succeed. He expects nothing but the best in their behavior and teaches them to show respect and to maintain control of themselves. My 5 year old son was always on the verge of a meltdown before we started TKD. I saw an immediate improvement with his ability to handle disappointment and his willingness to persevere with tasks and obstacles at home. On another note, Master Choi is very upfront about costs(which I found NOT to be the case with some other disciplines), he is flexible with make-up classes and schedules, and he offers a generous trial period before committing. I would absolutely recommend Ca TKD Center!

I am absolutely thrilled with this TKD school. Master Choi is wonderful — he is kind and gentle but is a terrific disciplinarian. My 7 year old son is now constantly ensuring that his hands/nails are clean and is so respectful — even more so than before he started. Master Choi emphasizes the positive and my son’s self-discipline, self-control, and confidence have dramatically increased. I highly recommend CATKD!

Be careful — the owner gets belligerent if you need to cancel or change service. I was shocked at how he chose to handle his failure to cancel a recurring charge for services not received(kids stopped going).

This is a fine TKD school. I had 2 kids that attended this school and I have nothing but good things to say. The instructor, Master Choi, sets a fantastic example to the kids, that extends well beyond very good athleticism, and into the other important things that should accompany: respect, discipline, being a good kid and member of the family, community. He is very patient and gentle with the kids and they absolutely love and respect him. This is quite clear with my kids, and I see it in the other kids as well. He knows how to make them laugh, have fun, and at the same time, teach discipline and set good foundations for future development. The school is open to all levels. Obviously, everyone starts at the bottom, at the White Belt level. There is a Master’s and Black Belt club, too for the more advanced belts where the training is more serious. The fees are quite reasonable for what you receive in return. They are deducted monthly from your checking account/credit card, I guess, to avoid the hassles of having to collect from people who are late in paying. Taking TKD is not a good idea if you are looking to just commit a month or two, but rather more like 6 months to a year minimum. Although the benefits to each kid can be immediately visible, perhaps in just the first few weeks, the real benefits make themselves known after many months. So take advantage of their free trial to see if you and your kid like it. In this school, the odds are, you both will. Although it’s not a large facility, it is nevertheless well equipped and clean. Parking and location are very easy.

My son has been taking homeschool group lessons and private lessons with Master Choi for almost four years. Master Choi is one of the finest instructors we’ve had in my ten year old’s life. I highly recommend this studio for the quality and care and compassion and reasonable price. We live in Dana Point and I’ve been making the drive to Lake Forest two to three times a week. He’s worth it.
