Hair Comes The Bride

I rarely write reviews but I wanted to take a moment to thank the staff at Hair Comes The Bride for their exceptional help. I am going to a once in a lifetime black tie awards show and needed just the right hair accessory to match my gown and earrings. It turned out to be much more difficult than I anticipated. I first tried Nordstroms. I initially bought something there after hours of going through all of their online options but when I returned it because it didn’t quite match, the employee told me not to wear anything in my hair because it would just clash. Surprising but the Nordstroms sales person was very negative and unhelpful. My dress has beautiful gold appliques and the earrings and hair piece needed to match exactly. I saw a few choices on Hair Comes the Bride and called. The woman who helped me was amazing. She knew how important this black tie event was to me and was very empathetic. First, she asked me to send her pictures of my dress and earrings which in my opinion, was exceptional. She went completely out of her way to help me find just the perfect hair accessory. She saw the challenge because our best choice still had some pearls and my earrings and dress did not have pearls. She was able to push the little pearls on the hair accessory behind so you couldn’t see them. She got my order out right away and when it arrived, I was so impressed. It came beautifully wrapped in a lovely box with ribbon and very well protected. I highly recommend this store and if you don’t find what you are looking for, please call and talk to them. Excellent service!

I ordered some hair flowers recently and am SO DISAPPOINTED with the products I received. I ordered one set of 3 flowers and they are very cheap looking, they are falling apart and have chunks of dried yellow glue on them. I also ordered an orchid which is pretty but much smaller than described on their site (cost was $ 40 for ONE little flower not much bigger than a quarter!) They have a bigger size which I planned to order as well if I liked the small but after their disgraceful customer service, I wouldn’t order again. I spent $ 80 total for this small order (1 set of 3 little cheap-​looking flowers and 1 flower too small to use) a total waste of money! I wouldn’t complain about the price if these were quality products but I won’t even use them. The most annoying thing is that after numerous attempts to reach out to them, they won’t respond!!! They even sent me a link to add a review to their site but they have to approve their reviews before posting to the site so it won’t even appear!

P. s. They waited for the last minute to tell me I had to blow dry my hair so I didn’t get much sleep the night before my wedding. (Ugh!) I also didn’t like how it was left up to me to determine when the girl came. Because of that there was not enough time to fix my hair and she barely had time to do my bridesmaids maid, which she hated. I just didn’t understand the unprofessional behavior of this company and their nerve to charge $ 500…

I had booked and paid hair comes the bride months in advance for my hair and makeup trial (250 for the trial). At first everything seemed great. I had booked my trial far in advance because I had really wanted my mom to be able to be there for it. My mom lives out of state and she was only going to be able to fly out once before the wedding (for my bridal shower) so I made sure to schedule my trial the day of my bridal shower. I made it very clear to them how important it was for my mom to be in the trial with me. The day before my trial I get an e mail from the receptionist confirming my trial for the next day which was great. The next day (the day of my trial and my bridal shower) I waited for hours and no one ever showed up! They do not give you the information of your stylist so there’s no way of getting in contact with anybody to know if they are running late or showing up. I had to wait until that Monday for the receptionist to be back in the office (they are only open mon-​fri) for her to call me back and tell me they don’t know why she didn’t show to my trial. They were completely unapologetic and did not try and remedy the situation at all. They offered me a new stylist but there was no way I would trust a company as unreliable and unprofessional as they were. They did refund me my 250 dollars but it in no way makes up for the fact that my mom wasn’t able to be there with me during this special time. They need to learn communication and customer service. I can only imagine how deviating it would be if this happened on my actual wedding day!

Disgraceful. these people do not know what they are doing. ruined my day … Do not have one nice word to say about these awful people.

This place did My hair and make up ten years ago and I still hate to look at my wedding pictures because my hair was awful! I have long curly hair and the girl showed up to the hotel where I got married and did my hair, my makeup and a few up dos for my bridal party all by herself! My make up was very average. I washed my hair that morning as most people would want to do on their wedding day. She told me oh your hair comes out better when it’s dirty! Wth?! My trial hair do came out much better. They should be more up front with people and give proper information.

I just received my earrings and my hair comb, they were both more beautiful than I could of imagined. The earrings were spectacular, im very very shocked. Thank you so much I know they will be perfect on my wedding day

I’ve never had my makeup professionally done. I reviewed several companies and talked to them before deciding to go with Hair Comes the Bride for my wedding hair and makeup. They are definitely on the higher end of the price range, but I liked their reviews and decided to splurge since it was a once in a lifetime thing.
Melisa was wondering, handling my phone calls and questions. I told her I’m Asian and wanted to make sure I had an artist who was experienced working with Asians. She assured me Laura was.
Laura did my makeup at the hotel before the wedding. My wedding was on a boat, late afternoon into the evening. I wanted something a little more dramatic than everyday makeup with false lashes. I have a tendency not to speak up when I should, so I had my sister come and give her opinion. Laura did a great job on my hair. She ended up using a white/​silver shimmering shadow the upper portion of my top lids, corners, and lower. My sister told her there was too much white/​silver, I agreed. We asked Laura to tone it down and replace it with shadow on the upper lids. That seemed to have made her irritated. She removed very little, so we told her there was still too much and asked her to remove more. I thought it made my eyes look beady (my eyes are actually not at all, lol.) I also had so much blush on, it covered half of my face (we asked her to remove some of it as well.) She seemed to have taken it personal and removed a little more silver shadow and said she did not recommend going any darker on the eyes and if she removed the blush, she would have to redo the airbrushing which we did not have time for. That seemed to have changed the mood of the rest of the makeup session.
Instead of a set of lashes, Laura just glued a few individuals on. She said it looked more natural. The foundation under my eyes were so thick it looked like mud with huge wrinkles/​cracks. The finishing touch to my makeup was light pink lipstick which did not go with my skin tone. I asked if she had another color, but was told it was the «bridal» lipstick they use. Apparently, every bride gets the same color.
Laura was nice enough to curl my 9 year old’s hair for which I tipped her $ 50 (in addition to the 25% I tipped for myself.) She didn’t seem very happy when she left.
When I got to the wedding/​boat my other sister and daughter took one look at my makeup and took me down to the dressing room (they didn’t know about what happened at the hotel.) They removed most of the makeup Laura put on and redid it so my eyes didn’t look so beady with all that silver shadow and the foundation wasn’t so caked on. The end result was more natural looking, dramatic makeup with a new set of lashes and lipstick that matched my skin tone. I had so many compliments on my makeup that night!
Having Hair Comes the Bride do my wedding makeup was a disappointment. I wish I wouldn’t have spent all that money to sit there for 2 hours. I ended up with makeup that looked bad and a makeup artist who wasn’t flexible to go with what I wanted. Rather than having a makeup artist who listened to me and created makeup to suit me, my face, and the style I wanted, I received a cookie cutter job and asking for changes was tabooed!
Hair Comes the Bride sent me a survey to which I filled out and even sent pictures so they can see the difference after my sisters redid my makeup! Gina, the owner sent me a couple of automated emails asking me to fill out the survey. I responded and never heard from Hair Comes the Bride regarding my survey or emails. I guess the customer service is gone once they have your money. Lesson learned!

Hair Comes the Bride completely ruined the afternoon of my wedding day.
My «stylist» didn’t know the schedule of when I was supposed to be ready and ended up delaying our entire schedule by AN HOUR AND A HALF. Even if she had managed to create a decent hairstyle from her first try (it was a disaster), she wasn’t even aiming at being done until over HALF AN HOUR after the necessary time. Instead, she wasted her morning doing the bridesmaids, flower girl, mothers, my mom’s friends — all of which I very clearly told her (multiple times) didn’t need to be done until several hours after me.
Her hour and a half delay meant that for an hour and a half, I had three photographers, 2 videographers, and my entire bridal party simply sitting around and waiting for me to finish. My bridesmaids realized that I was so upset that they were afraid to even go near me all afternoon for fear that I would just burst into tears, so they just sat quietly in the other room and waited.
Her hour and a half delay also meant that I didn’t have time to take hardly any photos when I was finally ready, and which meant we had to feverishly sprint through bridal party photos, photos of myself and my groom, and our formal family photos. I now have literally just a handful of photos of myself and my husband on our wedding day (and just a few of myself with my bridesmaids) because the HCTB team wasted my entire afternoon attempting to do a half decent job on hair and makeup. And all after not just one but TWO PAID TRIALS, multiple emails and photos and exact descriptions of what I wanted, and yet they still were not able to create the look I wanted AND ruined not only my shot at taking photos but my mood that entire afternoon and going into the evening, on my wedding day!

Hair Comes the Bride was amazing for my wedding services! I had hair and make up for myself, four bridesmaids, two mothers, and a flower girl. Laura and her assistant showed up and had us all looking gorgeous in four hours. I gave each girl freedom to do whatever kind of look she wanted and there isn’t any style these ladies can’t do! My flower girl is two years old and was very sassy that day, but they were very patient with her. They definitely had their work cut out for them but I have no complaints at all!
I was never the type of girl who dreamed about every detail of my wedding and it was the first time I had ever gotten professional make up done. I’ve heard horror stories from other people about other places so I was really apprehensive but Laura put me at ease right away! I got compliments all night about how great everyone looked. She made me feel like the gorgeous bride all girls want to feel like on their wedding day. The make up stayed all night and even looked great the next day (I fell asleep without washing my face because I was EXHAUSTED when it was all over).

I went with «Hair Comes the Bride» (ugh I hated saying that) for my wedding hair and makeup. I have to say that it was overall an awesome experience! The coordinators are terrific, and super prompt in replying back to me via e-​mail. I worked with Cheryl who was a sweetheart.
I was not one of the girls that spent high school afternoons daydreaming what their wedding day would look like… and leading up to the wedding I sure wish I had, because I just had no idea what I wanted! Cheryl gave me just the look I never knew I wanted, and was just plain cool!

I was in my friend’s wedding a few years ago and she picked Hair Comes the Bride to do our hair and makeup. All of the girls and I loved how we looked, so when it came time for my own wedding, I knew I would call HCTB! Genna was the lead stylist for us. She came to my house for the trial, kindly and professionally dealt with my one and only bridal meltdown, and was so amazing. She is so talented and has the sweetest personality. I just loved her!
On the day of my wedding, we had Genna, Laura, and Renee as our stylists. My six bridesmaids, my mom, and I all loved how we looked! Renee seemed pretty new and worked a little more slowly, but she did a great job. Those who were done up by Laura said she did wonderful work, but wasn’t very friendly (and she even left early). Genna was amazing and made me look and feel so beautiful! I got so many compliments on my hair and makeup that day. We also had Kat as our personal assistant and she was fantastic — touched us up throughout the day and was a great help with all of the girls! Brie, who works in the office, responds to emails so quickly — I could feel her happy personality just through her emails!
Hair Comes the Bride is more expensive than other hair/​makeup companies, but they are worth it!

Genna did my hair and makeup on the day of and I could not be more pleased! I have really long hair (small of my back) and it does not keep a curl. I wanted to wear it down, but all of the trials at other salons left me worried. So, after 4 trials and too much money wasted, I was connected by Erin from Events Taylor Made with hair Comes the Bride.
Genna knew just what to do to to keep the volume and curls last throughout the day. I was very last minute if finding them and the only appointment I could get was at 8:30. I was ready by 11am and the pictures began at 2pm. I was shocked that the curls stayed in! It was also kind of relaxing to know I was ready early as I was able to enjoy the day more.
Makeup lasted ALL night long. I asked for more natural lashes and they came out great and didn’t feel them all night long.
I would HIGHLY recommend them, make sure to ask for Genna.

I love these girls!!! Laura and Seima are the ones who worked on me and my bridal party and they made us look hot! I wanted to more along the lines of a Playboy model oppose to a classic bride and they nailed it! Laurie made extensions for me so I had long, full and curly hair that has this beautiful textured style on the sides to compliment my headband with that glamorous sex kitten smokey eye makeup. My husband couldn’t get over how hot I looked! They are able to do all styles of hair and makeup. My mom was wearing a vintage style dress and she wanted her hair done like Rita Hayworth and they styled it to a T! What really sealed the deal for me was that on the day of (once everyone saw how great we all looked) those who only had makeup now wanted their hair done and vice versa so they allowed us to add on those services! They arrived on time and had us ready to go when we needed to leave. I also had Lauri do a spray tan trial during the summer which looked awesome, but I didn’t have time to do it again before the wedding. My bridal party and our moms looked so beautiful! I wish I could keep these girls in my pocket so that they could do my hair and makeup every day, they really made me feel sexy. ;)

everytime you call no one picks up the phone and you have to leave 2 – 3 messages before you get a return call… Frustrating!!!

The one star is for the extremely pleasant demeanor of the girl I spoke with on the phone. Had it not been for her personal customer service skills this reveiw would have been no stars or negative stars if it were possible.
I ordered a silk flower to wear in my hair for my upcoming wedding in May 2010. It was $ 39.99 plus tax, and shipping charges of nearly $ 10. Total price was $ 51. It looked lovely online so even though it was a bit pricey compared to some hair flowers I’ve seen at various stores in person, I ordered it. I mean, it’s for my wedding, right? And they specialize in bridal accessories, right???
The flower arrived on Saturday and what a dissapointment.
A) the flower came totally mangled and the petals and leaves were all twisted and scrunched. My fiancé loked at it and said «what is that?» The box it came in was of ample size and didn’t appear like it would smash the flower, so they must just keep them in a box with a billion other flowers until ordered.
B) One would think that a flower worn in the hair on someone’s wedding day would come with some sort of secure clip, right? Maybe? This one came with a wrapped piece of the «stem» sticking out about an inch and a half from the back of the flower, attached at the tip to one of those old school wide open bobby pins that I might find in my great grandma’s beauty case.
I tried in vain to straighten out the petals (which didn’t work because of the stiffness of the fabric) and then put it in my hair and it looked rediculous. The long stem inhibits the flower from laying flat on your head coupled with the loose bobby pin just makes this gnarled thing hang limp and sideways. For $ 40 the quality was piss poor.
Now, let’s get to the best part. For returns they charge a 15% re-​stocking fee (and by re-​stocking I mean cramming it back into that big box where it looks like it came from) and I have to pay return shipping. So, in the end I will have paid $ 20 ($ 10 shipping each way) plus $ 6.00 for absolutely nothing. Yay!
