Olive Tree Chinese Kitchen

I ordered the house fried rice with shrimp, chicken, and beef. I paid $ 12 for this single dish. Which way above average for fried rice. When I got the meal it was hot but had 2 shrimp and very little chicken and beef. For paying that much for fried rice you think they would put a decent amount of beef, chicken and shrimp. Very over priced and very little meat. Highly do not recommend this place. Go somewhere else that actually gives you the correct amount of portions.

I ordered online through Unilocal and after completing and paying for my order, it said delivery time would be 1 hour :(All I ordered was veggie fried rice, wonton soup and 2 egg rolls so I hoped that it would end up being less. My food was delivered 1.5 hours after I ordered it. Everything was still warm when I received it and the rice and egg rolls were really yummy. The soup was extremely bland though. The broth tasted more like water than chicken broth.

This place has really good food and you get it In a good time range. Elizabeth the waitress was very nice and professional. The place is hard to find, the place sits between the quality inn and McDonald’s but well worth it, going back to try other food dishes.

We love this place! Haven’t had anything here that we don’t like and it is the only place that has gotten me to eat brown rice — it actually tastes better with their food than white rice does. The boyfriend and I tend to get at least 3 meals to go and it will last us for a few nights which makes it very cost effective. Not to mention a lot healthier for us than grabbing a burger. The only thing I wished they would make is moo shu chicken, but I know the sauce is not healthy.

A co-​worker went to Olive Tree just after they took over this location. He said the service was very poor, but maybe it was because they had recently opened. I waited over 2 months for them to work out the kinks before I tried it. Guess that still wasn’t enough time.
The waiter seems completely stressed out. There were only 2 tables with diners: me, alone at a table, and another group of 3 people. Other customers walked in during the hour I was there. No one was greeted when they walked in (it’s a tiny place) and it took 10 minutes to get a glass of water! I simply couldn’t understand what the problem was. He was making it a LOT harder than it needed to be. Take an order, turn it into the kitchen, pour a glass of water, deliver it to the customer, wait on the next table. Dude – it’s really not that hard.
The restaurant is connected to a motel. One of the hotel maids came in while I was there, most likely wanting to pick up lunch. You’d think that since the motel and restaurant are connected, the employees would maybe know each other. Not here. She stood at the counter area, was not acknowledged, and finally after a few minutes, she left. I saw her 10 minutes later walking across the parking lot with a bag of food from McDonalds.
The food is just average, regular Chinese fare – nothing to rave about there either. Not sure how long this place is going to stay in business, but I do know I won’t be back.

Have to say we really wanted to like this place but our orders fell short to disappointment. The beef broccoli and kale showed up with no kale even after we asked twice to confirm there would be kale. I love kale! No kale showed up and the beef was tenderized to a gummy consistency that I didn’t really favor. Kung pao chicken was unfortunately bland and that familiar sweet savory spicy appeal was lacking. Chow mein was missing water chestnuts and flavorless. I asked for the check in special that advertised for the avocado crab rolls and got egg rolls instead. The service seemed nice. They advertised fresh, healthy and some organic ingredients so I thought to give it a go. But I don’t like ordering things that are described on the menu and things don’t show up like kale… egg rolls instead of avocado crab tray etc.

Took a friend here for lunch while waiting for a room especially since I enjoyed my last visit and wanted to try the wings… and the wings was different from what I expected and delicious as well My friend had the orange chicken and I don’t care for that and I must say I will definitely eat there orange chicken and the service was great they didn’t let my friend down either we left full and tired

This place is AMAZING !!! The Korean triple plate is worth coming here… Elizabeth was my server. She made my experience here, worth coming back for. I can’t wait to try something new on the Menu.

The food is tasty and you can taste the quality of the meat. But the price is really high. Two dishes to go came out to be $ 27. With this price I can get a lot more from other places.
I think this is the reason why no one comes here in the evening. I drove by twice and saw no one but finally gave them a chance. Their lunch menu pricing is more reasonable.

Disappointed, the old owner wAs terrific. He retired and now has new owner. Charged for hot tea. Disappointed

THIS PLACE IS AMAZING!!! The customer service is outstanding and not just that but there ingredients are ORGANIC AND FRESH!!! The food is delicious and they have OPTIONS for vegetarians!!!

Took our family here for a Sunday night. Orders the egg rolls, won ton soup, teriyaki chicken, garlic chicken and the beef with broccoli. It was delicious!!! Very reasonably priced and the staff was very friendly.

Horrible location but the food makes up for it.
The best Asian food in South County

Ordered for the first time by delivery. Kung Pao chicken (mild) was still spicy. Mongolian Beef was good. Vegetable chow mein was great. You get a choice of white rice, egg fried rice, or quinoa. The quinoa was excellent. The food arrived in 30 minutes and was hot. The house smelled great. I felt like I was in an episode of Seinfeld!

We had high hopes for this place. It claims to use high quality ingredients like olive oil and Australian flank steak. Yet they use tenderizer on all their beef dish (including the steak!). We’ve been to this place 3 times. Their white rice is very stale at best, rotten and not edible at least once which is unheard of.
The dishes do feel lighter than most Chinese restaurants in OC, so it’s possible that they actually use olive oil. Also, not overly salty and light on MSG. The food actually has «wok chi» — means they use a heavy hot wok with quick stir which is critical to good Chinese food! The vegetables are tender and well cooked yet still fresh and green — again signature of high temperature wok!
If you can overlook the tenderized meat (typical of Chinese food) and skip the white rice, the food is actually quite tasty. I give it 3 stars because the chef is a skilled Chinese cook despite the sub-​par ingredients. At this price point, I don’t know if it will survive.

The food taste and quality is amazing!
I really appreciate the healthy approach using organic and natural ingredients. I love getting alkaline water in restaurants also. The service was stellar, we never had to ask for a thing, and our 5 year old was treated as a person and not overlooked which I appreciate. We will definitely return!

While it may be unfair to compare this place to the establishment that used to be here, that is a small mom and pop super authentic chinese hole in the wall restaurant that was a hidden gem in South OC, the current restaurants is really nothing to write home about (sorry Mom!)
The food is what you would expect from the many other «Chinese» restaurants in the South OC area. It’s menu has the typical traditional dishes such as Orange Chicken, Honey Walnut Shrimp, Mongolian Beef, along with a little added Korean flare with some Korean BBQ ribs among other selections.
Orange chicken is a fairly popular dish choice, especially with the kids. I ordered this dish fro my 7 year old son and was really surprised to see hot red chilli peppers mixed in with the Orange chicken. Needless to say, the orange chicken simply had too much heat for him to eat. Otherwise, the chicken was fairly tough and was drenching in the orange sauce, almost to the point where it felt like you were eating hard candy. We also ordered the Mongolian beef which was pretty good. The rice was definitely a little on the heavy side and I could tell it had been sitting around for hours.
Overall, this place isn’t bad, but it’s not a place I would recommend or go back to again. I can find many other places like this to eat in the area and would not go out the way to eat here. I was hoping this place would be a good replacement for the previous place, although the new décor is very very nice. Sadly, if I want my authentic Chinese food, looks like I gotta drive a little further north back to Irvine.

This place is amazing, delicious & organic! It has a variety of Asian food (Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Korean & Mongolian) They have Gluten-​Free options that are just amazing! We tried their pineapple chicken fried rice that came in a pineapple shell, Mongolian beef w /​brown rice & a delicious organic tea made from fresh leaves. All very tasty, GF, natural & organic cooked mostly with olive oil. Quinoa, brown rice & other options available. =)
Flyer is attached. The restaurant opened a month ago & is trying to give a natural, organic & healthy option for Asian food lovers. It’s kind of hidden, as it’s inside the Quality Inn & Suites in Lake Forest. Just delicious!

This place is amazing! great food! great customer service! and they go out of their way to make their customers happy! we love this place and will continue ordering from here when we get a chinese craving! and the best part is it healthier than Panda or Pick up Stix!
I recommend this place to anyone who wants some good chinese food!!!
