History

Established in 1952.

It all started back in 1939 when Al Zink senior started working at the Johnson factory in Waukegan Illinois building Johnson Outboards. In 1951 Al Zink Jr. was born and the family moved to Los Angeles California. In 1952 Al Sr. opened Al’s Outboard Service a full Factory Authorized sales and repair facility. From fishing boats to ski boats to race boats we did it all. Al Jr. Followed in his father’s footsteps working on boats motors and found his way into boat racing. In 1982 Al Jr. took over the business and his father retired. In 1994 Johnson Outboards awarded Al’s Outboard the Factory Elite Service Award. The highest award given by the factory only 15% of factory dealers in the United States got this award for excellence in customer service. This spirit of customer service holds true today at Al’s Outboard. Our shop has always been for you the customers because Al Sr. taught us you treat the customers the way you want to be treated and that is why we have been so successful.
