Tuffy Tire & Auto Service Center

My brakes went out immediately after getting brakes repaired here. I almost caused major multi-​vehicle accident on highway. Terrifying. I’ll know more what went wrong after brake inspection at another shop in morning and will edit review with that info. My current review: stay away from this place.
UPDATE: Just had brakes looked at and repaired by another shop. They said the reason brakes didn’t work is because this place failed to replace old washers, thus causing brake fluid to leak out. Cost for two new washers was 50 cents. Scary experience. Shocking that this place put on new calipers yet didn’t replace old washers.

I have never met a more rude inexperienced auto service center in my 45 years of having auto services! Rip off and just Rude! Never never again!

Four months ago, I went to Tuffys LITH for a routine oil change and my wife found my car was leaking oil. The numbnut mechanic that worked on my car DID NOT hand tighten the oil filter. It left a big mess in my garage. Good thing my wife caught it leaking. Just a month ago, I went there again to see how they do in my oil change and when I went home, I checked the oil filter and it was loose! I hand tighten it to make sure no leaks. A couple of days later, my wife said my car was still leaking oil. I went under the car and noticed the oil drain plug wasn’t tightened all the way! I jacked up my car and tightened it and the leak was fixed.
To the Tuffy’s mechanic: You’re an ass clown that shouldn’t be working on cars if you can’t even do a simple oil change. You also filled up my oil all the way past the maximum level to the point that it could hurt my catalytic converter. I don’t do many reviews on Unilocal and I only do reviews if I feel like it could help another consumer from the headaches you have given me.
If you have taken your car here recently, check your car for oil leaks. It’s possible they might charge you an arm and a leg for a «diagnostic» when all it needs is a simple tightening of the oil drain plug and oil filter.

Got a $ 15.99 coupon from them in an email for an oil change and a tire rotation that expired 9÷12÷15. I called to make an appointment that day. When I asked the person who answered the phone if I could make an appointment for that same day he said sure…2 seconds into our conversation I tell him that I wasn’t sure if he needed to know now or when I went in that I had that coupon. Right away his demeanor changed and told me that the coupon had already expired. I was polite and said but it expires today, am I not able to use it today… to which he had to answer «well yes, you could. BUT we don’t have appointments anymore.» I was shocked given he had just told me I could make an appointment for that same day. I asked him «So, NOW you don’t have an appointment? All of a sudden!?» And he said yes, but that I could drop off the car and and if he had time he would service it. IF he had time?! So was I supposed to drop off my car all day and just wait and see?! I told him no thanks and took my car elsewhere. This is BY FAR the worst experience I’ve ever had trying to get an oil change. If you send out a coupon, don’t be mad people want to use it, and don’t make them last on your waiting list just because you want them to pay full price.

The owner has hard time accepting any coupon. Last time I had a coupon of $ 30 off, and he printed out at least 4 receipts changing the price all over, and still not giving me the right discount I was entitled for. Eventually he did, but who knows what kinda hidden fees he compromised with…

This Tuffy has had several different owners (or so we have been told) over the years and sometimes we have been treated very fairly but other times it seems they just look for «problems» that need to be «fixed». A real mixed bag as far as we are concerned. The last time I went there I told them I thought I had a leak in the brake line, they said no, the line was fine but the breaks needed expensive repairs. After they did the repairs the brakes were still not working and they found I needed a new brake line because there was a leak in it… Makes me really wonder if all that expensive work they had done was really needed. Never again.

I had a friend show up here last week with a list of items that she was told her car needed. She was told she needed the points and plugs replaced, a new water pump, and she was told that she needed a new front axle. First of all her car has an electronic ignition which doesn’t have points. also we talked to the previous owner and the replaced both front axles less than 6 months ago. She was also told of a problem with the transmission. bottom line all the car needed was to tighten the belt so it would stop squealing. STAY AWAY THESES GUYS ARE LIARS!!!

Took my truck here for a routine oil change and to check the pressure of the cooling system as my temp gauge was moving a bit.
They checked the pressure for free and the $ 21 coupon in the mail for the oil change was nice. The $ 21 is only for 5 quarts of oil, my truck needed 6, so it was an extra $ 3 or something.
The owner of the place was a decent guy and I talked to the mechanic who was working it and he told me there were no leaks or anything.
I watched them work on the truck and they did everything that was asked and were very friendly and approachable.
The waiting room had leather couches and the water in the dispenser was cold.
Can’t beat the $ 21 coupon, will be back.
