We haven’t been here since last year when we came up to use our week. The service was good, the food not. I had the Mahi Mahi whìch was underdone and had no taste. the sweet potato çasserole was good. The haricots vèrt were limp and tastè free. Very dîsappointed with what was à «spècial». Feeling rìpped off.

We stopped here because we had read on another website they allowed dogs on their outdoor deck(which they do). Nice view, good food, good service.

Recently celebrated our anniversary at Point of View while on vacation. Wait staff was pleasant and accommodating. Meal was quite average, fish was bland, prime rib was also a little tasteless, starches were standard fare. Pricing a little steep as compared to food quality, but is probably worth a second visit when we are back in the area.

We enjoyed our meal at point of view and will definitely return. The outdoor patio has beautiful views. The food was great. Loved my trout and grits. The salads were good and decent drink selection. This is a better option than most of the restaurants in chimney rock.

Honestly I would not chose to eat here again. It was WAY overpriced. Food was ok. Service was good but not for the price!

Read a few reviews about this place prior to going and thought we would give it a try since out-of-towners need guidance. I would pass on this place next time. The place is pretty old and outdated which isn’t a huge deal. We went at 6pm and there were only 3 other parties there. The food was OK. Nothing to fuss about and quite expensive for the food. But I will say the bread was pretty good.

It was our last meal at Lake Lure, 7÷11÷2014, and we wanted to a step up from La Strada. I had the Veal Picata, and my wife had the Chicken Marsala. The veal tasted good but the presentation was off, the capers were almost brown instead of green. My wife’s Chicken Marsala tasted good but the sauce was very thin. On both the linguine was over cooked. Great staff. If the food had been a little better we could have over looked the white paper table«cloth». We will try again next year, but will probably try one of the steaks, that is what most people were ordering.

It has been years since I last dined at POV. That was then, this is now. The new owners have done a fantastic job with the menu and the ingredients. The waitress said everything that they serve they try and make fresh. They use fresh veggies, house made dressings, and home made French fries. Check out the Tuesday night specials. The prime rib was nice and rare, with a hint of rosemary. We also had crab stuffed mushrooms for an ap. the waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu and the ingredients.

Point of View exceeded our expectations in terms of service(very attentive staff) and food(the mountain trout almondine was perfect). It’s an old-school menu with rack of lamb, prime rib, shrimp Diane and the like, but POV customers seem to be quite happy with that. For me, I’d go back anytime for the trout. Limited wine list with several good selections at reasonable prices. A good way to end the meal is with an excellent apple tart. Tables on the left as you pass the reception offer lovely views of Lake Lure and Rumbling Bald Mountain.

The only reason this place gets 2 stars is because of the friendly staff and Yummy dessert. The meal was awful. It reminded me of eating cafeteria food. We had the ribeye and the champagne chicken. Both were poorly made. Reviews on other sites were positive so we were very disappointed. We weren’t expecting a 5 star place but we at least thought we could get some decent food.

Pleasant local restaurant with good service, fair prices and a decent wine selection. Definitely known for its mountain trout, which is prepared well and always fresh.

Always looking for a surprise anniversary venue, I selected the Lake Lure Inn because my wife is a huge fan of Dirty Dancing. The next question was where to share dinner on our special day, Unilocalers had me interested in the Inn’s dining room as well as Larkins on the Lake, but sadly only one review for point of view. Checking with a friend of mine who summers at Lake Lure, he unquestionably recommended P of V, then enjoying a glass of pre dinner wine at the inns bar, a must stop for all, we met a couple celebrating their 48th who have made the Inn their anniversary destination for 10 years and have always eaten at P o V, so off we went. Point of View is housed in an old log cabin that I understand predates the lake and is owned by two sisters. Located across the lake it must have a point of view, but November the sun dies early along with the view. Dinner begins with a loaf o fresh baked bread. We ordered the escargot on mushroom caps to begin. The bread didn’t last as used it instead of licking the garlic butter from the plate. House salads came with home made dressings. That evening’s special was grouper with shrimp that was perfectly prepared. My wife enjoyed her perfectly rare ribeye, the portion was not large, but neither was the price. Baked potatoes for me should not be wrapped in foil, but I just prefer crispy skins. Deserts are made on site and chafe according to the season. All in all a lovely evening, prices fair and service prompt. In season reservations would be a must especially if you want to partake of the view or sit on the outside patio overlooking the lake. I offer the rather long review, at least for me, as I believe Point of View deserves to have more people seriously consider it as a dining option. It has my endorsement, for what it’s worth.
