Great place to waste your morning waiting for a table for brunch. Food was fine, overpriced.

Babica Hen is one of my favorite breakfast spots. I love the eggs Benedict or the blueberry lemon crumble waffle. Delicious! It tends to get crowded on holidays so go when they open! It’s definitely worth the wait for the amazing food choices. Check it out. You will not be disappointed!

Go! Great service and amazing food. Everything has an interesting foodie twist with fresh ingredients you’d expect from a local Portland favorite. Breakfast all day… amazing salads. Champagne oysters– amazing Waffles– amazing Quinoa and beet salad– you will crave it The romaine salad with prawns– great flavor and light, perfect for lunch In fact all of the salads are amazing Get the cornbread! If you ask they will warm it and serve it with honey. Just like dessert. Best to call ahead though because I’ve always had to wait. Daily lunch 30 min at times. Sunday brunch wait was 90+ minutes. Worth it but not the place for a quick bite when you are in a hurry.

Coworkers picked up some breakfast for the group and oh my goodness… Amazing. Hands down the best chicken and waffles I’ve ever had in my entire life… And keep in mind, I’ve only had chicken and waffles one other time at screen door in southeast but this wins hands down! Their homemade syrup and homemade butter puts it OVER the edge! Yum. Yum. Yum.

I only remember a bit from our trip here — This place gets BUSY on the weekends(and early), so come ready to wait. I ordered their BFK coffee(Baileys, Frangelico, Kahlua) and its such a great combo. I make it at home every so often now. Food wise, I ordered their Eggs benedict. It was good, I just remember it being very heavy. My husband ordered chicken and waffles + an egg over medium with gravy and syrup. He liked it, but also said it was much heavier than he’s use to. This place was nothing spectacular but the food was good and if we lived in thee area, I’m sure we’d drop in every once in a while.

Yum! Waffles are a bit on the crispy side but soaking them in the delicious maple syrup makes them perfect! *review provided by 10 year old daughter.

This place is a gem! I noticed this place when it was closed. It had a really inviting look about it, so I decided to look it up last weekend. The reviews looked great, so we gave it a try. There was a healthy wait(30 mins), but they have complimentary coffee, so it made sitting through the amazing smell of the place bearable! I chose the GF Le Waffle Lyonnaise. Amazing. First, this is the best gluten free waffle I’ve ever had. It was light and crispy on the outside. The ham, arugula, eggs and hollandaise sauce were perfectly balanced. The hubs had a giant omelette. All I can say is I chowed down and left nothing on my plate! We even took a cupcake and dog treat to-go. We’ll definitely be returning!

Babica Hen and La Provence are the two places that I frequent since they are down the street where we live. I’ve only gotten food poisoning(along with three other people in my party) once from Babica Hen after all these times I’ve been there, so I’d say the odds of not getting food borne illnesses is pretty good! I’ve learned that not only the breakfast entrees offer many gluten free options, the little bakery in there also has a lot of gluten free goodies! The service is always friendly, food is usually served quickly, so despite gotten sick from this place, I’d still return time and time again.

Nice restaurant, there were busy for a Sunday afternoon, but the wait was only about 10 minutes. They were slowly clearing out(about 2:00PM). Once seated we got water quickly(and often — seems that was one girls sole job, she did it well). It took a big for the waitress and we got coffee. The coffee is really weak. It took 25 minutes from our order to receive food. The food is good enough to warrant the wait, but it seemed a little long since they were slowing down by this point. I ordered the chicken ad wades. The wades were really good, the chicken was good. I guess I really didn’t read closely enough that it was topped with whipped cream, that wasn’t the taste I was going for, but it was ok. Randy had the miners breakfast and he was pleased. Thought the dish was very flavorful and put together well. $ 50 for two with coffee(no specialty coffee or alcohol). Not an everyday spot, but we’ll be back. It seemed like it would be a good spot to go with friends you really want to catch up with.

Just wrote above 5 star review but should have waited. Waitress was very helpful initially but then disappeared. We asked the busgirl 3 times for our check over a 20 minute span and Tell our waitress we needed to leave and couldn’t find her. She basically nodded and kept serving coffee to other tables… Ignoring our requests. We finally went to cashier ourselves… First still 5 stars but need to deduct a star for poor service.

My wife and I just moved here from Chicago. We love this place. Amazing breakfast dishes and wonderful staff. We can’t wait to come back for breakfast and brunch and take our family here.

I would give this place a 4.5 stars if I could! The wait time to get seated along with the length of time we waited for our food after ordering is part of the reason I’m giving them 4 stars instead of 5. 40 minutes wait time to get a seat and then another 40 minutes of getting water refills before being fed. I suggest you bring a book you’ve been meaning to read, like I did thankfully. Gotta keep that hanger at bay! They really know how to brunch here. Everything was just scrumptious! I ordered the Waffler, which is allows you to pick two waffle choices and have half of each. I highly recommend this option for people who love waffles and like to have different flavors in the same meal. I chose the Lyonnaise and the waffle of the month, which was Summer Berry. A savory and sweet combo that’s hard to beat in my books! I mean just look at the picture! Food technicalities: The waffles were crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, just how I like them!!! The cream on the Summer Berry Waffle half was amazing and the berries tasted fresh. They give you a generous amount of ham on the Lyonnaise Waffle half, but not an overflow of sauce, which I truly appreciate. Too much sauce always quickly turns into a soggy waffle. Also, in the Lyonnaise half of my dish, I thought the arugula brought nice, subtle notes of bitterness to the mix.
There is no doubt that that Waffler disappeared completely and real quick. I also ordered a cappuccino, which wasn’t amazing if I’m honest. There was also a weirdly huge amount of foam on the top. If they stepped up their coffee game a bit, and I’d probably be here every weekend if I could. Babica Hen, keep doing you, maybe just with shorter wait times!

Sharonie Macaroni suggested Babica and I swear we spent a good twenty minutes trying to decide how to pronounce the name. We asked our server, we asked another server then giggled about how cutesy the name sounded and how I was butchering it. But, I digress… Sunday brunch is awful. The wait time is usually horrendous, especially if you’re trying to check out the new hot spot or one of the tried and true joints. My Sunday mornings are typically after a night of playing too much Uno and drinking lots of ahem, soda and the last thing I want to see or hear is cheery people so stoked for brunch. Who is that cheery on a Sunday? They clearly did not play a «to the death» marathon game of Uno the previous night and their livers are probably not shriveling up in their insides. I have a love/hate relationship with brunch. I love breakfast but don’t like to get up early, so hence brunch is like my hero. I get the best of both worlds. Again, I rabbit trail. I had the pork schnitzel. FanFreakingTastic! Pork is where it is and I like it fried and covered in gravy. There were four or so biscuits, but who’s really counting? It was more than enough to keep me stuffed for hours. It was a good portion but I couldn’t really stop there. I had to order pancakes, I had to try the coffee cake… and who has breakfast without potatoes? I had it all and it was damn good. The wait wasn’t terrible but we did arrive towards the tail end of brunch. The service was fast and the servers were awesome. We’ll definitely be back.

Good restaurant, very popular, clean, modern, unique menu items. This place is busy. They specialize in Breakfast and serve breakfast all day long.

I ordered the Breakfast at Hen House. There are several parts of this dish. The French Toast is kind of hard to chew but the sauces come with it are good. Scrambled eggs are okay, just average level, not enough ketchup though, have to ask again. The fruit is fresh, but with skin on it, kind of unusual to me. The bacon is not crispy, though the flavors are acceptable. In all, an average dish just worth three stars. Maybe should try something else. I also tried my friend dish, egg benedict with salmon. It is smoked salmon, not fresh ones. Tastes better than mine, with more flavors. Great environment and service, cute glassware for water and juice.

Since we live in Newberg we have been to Babica Hen in Dundee for breakfast on several occasions. Never disappointed at that location we decided to stop at their Lake Oswego Café on our way back home from Portland. Even though it was close to 90 degrees we were determined to sit outside… another reason to stop at Babica Hen, their outdoor dining. We walked into the building not knowing if we seat ourselves outside. The bar inside is large and the space is very inviting. The bartender greeted us and told us we could sit anywhere we like on the patio. I headed for the table with chairs on one side and a bench with pillows on the others side. Very nice touch and it was quite comfortable. The outside dining is built into the parking lot so there isn’t a view but the area is nicely done. The staff was wonderful from beginning to end. Greeted with smiles. Our water glasses never got below quarter empty. My husband ordered the burger. He ate only half because he wanted to be able to walk out of there. Lunch the next day. Chili for his side, that he also enjoyed, made a huge meal. The burger was thick, moist, and grilled perfect. I order the Chicken Parmesan sandwich on French bread. I assumed is was going to be a baguette type bread but they were bread slices. The sandwich was good but nothing special. I also had the Orange Mimosa. Also good, but nothing fancy, and the $ 8 price tag was a bit much for this drink.

The staff was excellent. They were friendly, offered suggestions(that’s more rare than you’d think). I had to wait for about 15 minutes for a table due to the lunch time rush. The place was packed, but the service was much faster that I expected. I had the smoked salmon with poached eggs and quinoa potato cakes. They were very good but unfortunately not great. When presented, one of the poached eggs had split. While the smoked salmon was excellent, the quinoa potato cakes were disappointing. They had zero seasoning and no color on them, more like a lump of simple unseasoned mashed potatoes with a little over cooked quinoa mixed through them. To me the miss here was that there was no texture, it needs a little something to give it a little crunch. The salad and fresh fruit on the plate were really taste. And the espresso martini was excellent. Like I said the service was definitely too notch service.

This was a fun little find while my folks were visiting Portland for the weekend. They both love Lake O but I don’t know the area too well since I live out in NE Portland. Stumbled upon this place while looking for a brunch and were all pleasantly surprised! My mom and I both substituted our toast for a homemade biscuit for $ 1.50 but it was so little in comparison to the bread that my dad got! I guess it wasn’t really what we were expecting for that price swap, but it was still great. The homemade jam was a really nice touch. Our water/coffee cups were never not filled(a huge plus for me!) but our waitress seemed really stressed out and didn’t really care for small talk. My dad went to go mention something and she quickly brushed it off and walked away, she may not have thought that he was talking to her… but I think that it offended by Dad(but not me so much since I work in a busy place too and totally understand!) I just wanted to let her know to take a big breath!

Sunday brunch should be a treat, always. With that in mind, Babica Hen serves some mean breakfast options. Chicken and waffles, locally sourced Oregon eggs, and some killer bacon and sausage. How could you possibly go wrong, right? I love that the menu offers healthy options, but who are you kidding!!! Go for the gold, and don’t forget they serve boozy mimosas and pastries. If you are in Lake Oswego, this is a wonderful option for breakfast. Outdoor seating is available, but mind the wait time… it can take 40 – 45 minutes at minimum to get a table. Props to the owner for their salt shakers, I was in LOVE. Extra props for the coffee that helped the wait go faster!
