Lake Oswego High School

This place is huge, and it’s hard to believe that with ten million parking spots in two hundred lots there is NO WHERE TO PARK even hours after school is out!
My daughter had a thing going on at 7pm, so I was advised to be there by 6. I arrived at 530 and drove around at least a dozen different parking lots with hundreds of other parents looking for a spot. I entered from country club road. No spots in front, no biggie, so I checked the multiple lots on either side. Nada. So I went around to the other side, checked the lot by the cafeteria (which was being used as a dance hall,) and nothing there either. OK fine. Back to the sporting areas. Nope. I noticed that some others were parking up on the dirt/​grassy areas next to the parking lot, but I’m not bold enough to be a rule-​breaker like that. So I head to the lot behind the auditorium, where I encountered another several hundred cars driving round and round in search of a space. Still no luck. I went back to the overflow lot and found more people parking in non-​spots, then out the overflow lot exit and back around to the front to try again; and again; and again. I waited by a car that had their reverse lights on for about twenty minutes, but they never backed out. And they were still there when I drove back around a half hour later, while some other poor sucker waited anxiously with their signal on, staring daggers of anxiety at the car that wouldn’t move.
I finally found a spot to dart into just as someone pulled out just after 6pm, between the (baseball?) field and the cafeteria/​dance hall.
Then came the task of finding out where my daughters event was. There are so many buildings, but I was at least a half-​mile from the main entrance, and there didn’t seem to be a path to get back around to the front, so I approached the nearest building and asked some students if they could tell me where the room was. I was SHOCKED at how kind, helpful, and polite they were.
I live in the Beaverton high school zone and if I asked one of the students there for directions they would either roll their eyes and look away (best case scenario,) or just start screaming vulgarities at me and possibly flash a weapon.
The students gave me very thorough (aka lengthy) directions to my daughters classroom, which got me into the correct building, but by then I’d forgotten the rest of the directions and had to ask another student; who also answered with the same level of polite respect. I really expected the students here to be either A. stuck up and too good to talk to a random stranger who clearly doesn’t belong; or B. Act just like the teenagers in my neighborhood.
So Major kudos for the students here, plus their parents, teachers, and the staff at this school, and anyone else who taught them such a high level of moral standards.
The building and classrooms were very nice. Carpeted hallways, huge library, lots of different access points to each area I needed to get to. I didn’t see any graffiti anywhere, and everything was clean and in good repair.
The auditorium was huge! There were 600‑1000 people there and it didn’t look anywhere near full. The seating was plush and comfortable, and the room was heated! Unfortunately, my daughters school doesn’t have heat in the auditorium, so when it’s freezing out, it’s freezing inside too.
PS– my daughter’s school is not as nice as L.O., but she does not go to BHS either.
