Lamb’s Markets Naturally Local

Since Bales took over when Nick Goldsmith left as manager, there’s been a rapid decline. Today the deli didn’t even have American cheese, or ham that wasn’t Black Forest. They offered Mesquite smoked turkey as an alternative. What? I always came for meat and fish, but I can go to MoC or Seasons for that. Too bad, because it was a nice store. I remember when Bales took over Zupans in West Linn, which is now a WalMart. Bales seems to be the kiss of death for markets! Come to think of it, I don’t recall seeing the Traeger grill counter open today. Did they do away with that too?
My husband discovered that items scanned for the wrong prices. Mostly to the store’s favor. So keep a watchful eye as you check out.

Five stars for their excellent sandwich making skills! And they have gluten free bread for no additional charge, their gf bread is a little smaller so when you order a «whole» sandwich they give you TWO sandwiches! My whole family is obsessed: D

One star for service, 3.5 stars for hot-​bar food.
Being told by a rude, snarky hot-​bar clerk that «They’re all the same, MA’AM» is really annoying. Especially when it’s Lamb’s blue cheese meatloaf (yum!) and the meatloafs on the edges of the serving pan are dry. Husband asked that I pick one *from the middle this time* and that’s what I tried to do. I don’t purchase food from jerks, though, so we’ll have hot-​bar from Whole Foods tonight (been over there recently? WF really dialed it up and their cold and hot bars are terrific.)
I do recommend most of the hot-​bar items at Lamb’s (bacon wrapped chicken thighs, lamb roasts are especially delish) and hopefully the new management won’t make changes in the food. Might want to consider some changes in personnel though.

I love this store. I have been going to it for years. It is more than clean and friendly, which all the stores try to be. The people who work there remember me even though I go there maybe once every 6 weeks or so. The store is beautiful looking on the inside. The prices are similar to other higher end stores in the area, but I have the feeling I am actually getting better value than in store such as Safeway so that I do not mind if I pay a little more. That feeling is not what I get at some others. I love the classical music. I love the fresh meat and home ground hamburger. It is great to find fresh (not frozen) cuts of turkey all year around. No other store in the area offers this, and I have a friend whose favorite food is turkey. I love all the fresh fish. I enjoy the vegetables laid out as though someone LIKED vegetables rather than just so they can be sold. It is a matter of a slightly different way of treating them. I love the growler station. The shelves are filled with a variety of good things, both inexpensive brands and fancier of just about every product. There are foods for vegan diets. There is a beautifully laid out display of foods in the deli. They have the best made to order sandwiches in West Linn or Lake Oswego, including Subway. I am giving it only 4 stars instead of 5 because occasionally there have been unfriendly staff, and sometimes I have not been able to find any items low enough priced to be able to afford them. It is not really a store for a retired person such as I am who has a limited income. I like to go there anyway just for the aesthetic experience. Also, the coffee shop closed, and I miss it!

I have to agree with the other Lake Oswego locals that this store has rapidly gone downhill in recent months. Until recently, this market had the best meat and fish in the area, superior to that offered at Zupans. The best fishmonger that ever lived has left for greener pastures, and the people that are left do not appear to place a high value on excellent customer service. My most recent meat purchases were substandard, and the meat manager showed no concern, and offered no apology, when issues were reported to him. In my opinion, the best produce can now be found at the Lake Oswego Haggen, and the best meat at Market of Choice in West Linn.

This is a really nice market with fantastic selection (including eggs from Phoenix’s Egg Farm – the best!). The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and, well, simply awesome. Their produce leaves nothing to be desired, loads of organic. The entire market has a true variety of items to choose from, conventional to obscure. Thanks Lambs!

Like everything else, there is a mixed bag of people who work at Lamb’s. Guy at the hot food station is awesome. So is the gal at the deli. While cashier girls react like they have never seen an Asian person before. Wine selection is decent.

This Lamb’s blows its sister Lamb’s in Wilsonville out of the water. Way better prepared foods and produce. They even carry Stumptown coffee, which the Lamb’s in Wilsonville stubbornly does not. There was also plenty of the house brand freshly squeezed OJ in stock, again unlike its sister in Wilsonville.

It’s gone down hill in quality over the years. I used to go here for all my fish, but it’s not even comparable to Zupans. The extra 5 min drive is worth it. I used to be ok with the higher prices but they’ve kept the higher prices and gone down to Thriftway quality.

Great neighborhood store, with an excellent balance between everyday brands and items and natural products. I usually would go to New Seasons or Whole Foods for the bulk of our purchases, but Lambs is closer and manages to have 95% of the things I want. Good wine selection, friendly staff, and ample parking round out the deal. Now that Wizer’s is closed, this should be your go-​to market in LO for something special.

A very beautifully appointed grocery store. Classical music playing as customers weave their way through the high-​end offerings. Wonderful variety and the prices are fair. The only problem I had with this store was the rather cool, distant and «I have other things to do» attitude of the employees. I encountered four during my visit. I was looking for a particular item, which I could not find on my own. Finally called after an employee (they were few and far between) who, when I asked where I might find my item, just silently led to the item, pointed, looked at me and walked away. The florist was also lack-​luster, and when I asked her a question about how to get a certain plant to come back after blooming, she told me she didn’t know. No smile, no apology. In short… I didn’t feel welcome. Might go back for the special things they have to offer, but there are a host of great stores out there now. The competition for our dollars is pretty fierce! I don’t know about you, but I like to shop where I feel people are friendly and at least pretend they are happy to have me as a customer.

I drive by this market frequently but never stopped. I did because I had a sharing spree. $ 15 for $ 30 of groceries. I was very impressed with their selection. They grind their own meat!

I got my new droid phone, signed up for Unilocal online, downloaded Unilocal app for my droid. Was ready to check-​in the whole world that day.
Well, I happened to end up at this market first (I should have gone to my favorite Market of Choice)!!!
Anyway, I took a photo of my favorite food «Lobster». stood right by the tank and check-​in (don’t remember if it went through or not, we’ll see when I click post). One of the staff almost ran me over with the cart. :(He didn’t say, «excuse me» nor anything. He was annoyed that I was in his path. :(I can still hear his breathing «kind of like the bull fighting scene.» I think if he’d have just said «excuse me», I would have no problem get out of his way in the first place. I have dealt with worse attitude in Southern California, I told myself.
I didn’t know anything about this store, for some reason, there are 3 names. Part of the building says Palisades Market, on the newsletter says Thriftway, and Lamb’s Markets. Okay, sorry but I was a little confused and MOSTLY curious about it —– I was still new to Oregon. I asked the check-​out lady about the NAMES… She didn’t know but then she happened brighten my day with her awful attitude. I believe in my heart that she was more embarrassed that I took time to try to understand about 3 NAMES thing but she didn’t. I know I could have said something mean to these 2 people but I didn’t want to do so (why waste my good energy, right?).
That was my first experience at this market & Unilocal.I survived and still Unilocaling away but I haven’t gone back to this 3 NAMES store since.

Best Chinese food deli section hands down. $ 4.49 for a huge portion of pork fried rice with chicken and brocolli. Makes my mind say yes and my tummy say more. The portions are so large though that technically I could save some for another meal… I don’t, I eat them all. I don’t even feel bad about it afterward. Take that diet!
