OnPoint Community Credit Union

It’s a bank. A bank that doesn’t seem quite up to date enough. Their bill pay service is a third party company, not something they do. I’ve used bill pay for ages, it’s always all but instant. Here it takes days to process, days to actually move money and days still to get to its destination. I sent a paper check that beat their bill ay by almost a week. No excuse for that in this day and age. Also, they fee the heck out of everything, unlike a traditional credit union. It’s just a big bank the hasn’t kept up.
The people, for the most part, are very nice. That’s their strong point.

I have been a member since mid 80s and financed countless cars with them. If you need money for a car, no problem. Here, have $ 25 000, not questions asked. However, when it comes to home refinancing or line of credit, it is a different story. They just don’t want to give their money away, at least in my experience. On two occasions they asked so many questions that I went with another bank. Why do they need to know what I need the money for?. If you want to buy a car, go with them. However, if you want to refy your home or get a line of credit, go somewhere else.

How have I been a member of OnPoint since 1983 and not posted a review? I am pretty sure I must have but if Unilocal is telling me to post one I probably should.
I like OnPoint. I’ve been a member since 1983. It was Portland Teachers back then, and you had to work for the school district to join. I’ve always had good service from them on the banking end. I’ve had checking and savings accounts here since I first joined. I applied for loans a few times but was always denied so they must have very high standards since I have good credit and have never had issues getting loans from any other credit union or bank.
I’ve had issues with several of their ATM’s at some locations not working, even after reporting the issue they don’t get fixed, but once you know which ATMs do not perform which service and avoid them, you’ll be fine. The ATMs at this location seem to work fine.
Parking at this location is not ideal. The parking lot is hard to get into and out of, the lot is narrow, and the spaces are very small.

I worked with Michelle Jubb, she is fabulous. She stated she had worked there for several years. It shows, she knows her business. I was not an on point customer but between filling out the member form and requesting a loan, it took 2 hours to complete the entire process. Thanks Michelle for the stellar service and great attitude.

This is the first OnPoint branch (formerly Portland Teachers Credit Union) I was ever in, and it also is my home branch. I love this branch. The tellers are friendly, you are greeted at the door, and lines are usually pretty short.
This OnPoint branch convinced me to re-​finance at a great rate, and I am very glad I did. I have also taken out a Home Equity Line of Credit here, and am very satisfied with the service and rates.
OnPoint has my small business accounts as well. Suffice it to say I am a very satisfied and loyal customer.

I love this branch. Very helpful and kind staff. I’ll never go back to a bank again.

Why can’t I get my money!!! I have been trying to get groceries for 3 hours. I transferred money to all different cards on my account and no one sees it. Declined at the register, declined at the atm, then drove to one of your branches and declined at that atm. I call telephone teller to try and transfer it that way to see if maybe it’s a problem with your online and the telephone teller says it’s having technical difficulties and routes me to a line that says you are closed. 3 hours now and I have no access to my money and my fiancé standing at the store with our groceries. This is ridiculous.
This is the third time I have had this issue with onpoint and they always blaim the atm companies but I never had this problem when I had Wells Fargo or chase.

The Credit Union is fine, investments sub-​par.
I made an appointment with this short balding guy to invest my money (OP partners with Raymond James, Inc. investors). He was a salesman in the worst sense of the word. In 30 minutes he managed to put down my lawyer, CPA, and intelligence on investments. He drew a dumb picture of my financial future and told me to call him next week.
For some reason, I came back (maybe because I like banking here or I give people second chances), and got the same bad treatment. He lost my business at second five of our meeting.
I pride myself with being surrounded by the top professionals in the industry as advisors and people looking out for my best interest. This guy won’t be one of them because he fundamentally lacks expertise and fails to understand how to treat people.
Avoid the investment side of this bank like the plague and take your business elsewhere if you want to keep it!
(The one star earned is the rest of the bank and services, which is pretty good actually.)

I have been a member since the early 90s. Kruseway is the location I bank at. I’ve met great tellers and managers. I can always count on the tellers’ smiles and small talk to make my visit to the bank, Awesometastic!

Couldn’t ask for nicer people. Good services and rates. Wish I had access to more ATMs but that’s a minor nit. Laurissa at the Lake Oswego branch has been helpful both times I’ve needed something beyond standard teller services.

As far as OnPoint locations go this one is pretty decent. It’s conveniently located, close to both I-​5 and 217. I like to combine my errands in to one trip and it’s location makes it easy to do that. Drop the GF off at work, grab a coffee, deposit my paycheck (my tiny company doesn’t offer direct deposit so I have to do it the old school way), and onto whatever else needs doing without driving all over Surburbia.
The tellers are generally friendly, as they are at every OnPoint, although the last time I was there my teller was a bit over-​enthusiastic, almost pushy, in trying to convince me to sign up for their credit card. The first time I politely decline your offer should suffice, I don’t like having to say no thanks two more times and then having a pamphlet shoved at me anyway. If it weren’t for that experience I’d rate this branch five stars.

I’ve been a member of OnPoint Community Credit Union (formerly Portland Teachers Credit Union) for 18 years. They have always been easy to work with and are very professional. I just wish there were more ATMs for them around, but even without that, I will still keep my membership there.
