Can’t say enough good things about Payless Tree Service, Al and his great crew! Al removed three pine trees that were ready to fall. It was quick, clean, and a fantastic job! Thanks again to Al and his crew! We will have you back.

Payless just removed a huge pine tree from between our house and the neighbor’s. Alan and his crew showed up on time (even early) and got right to work.
They were professional and courteous and cleaned up after themselves. We will absolutely use them again when the need arises.

Have been using these guys for over eight years. From scheduling estimates and best price, to getting the work done — all was great. Team we had today was the best — super nice, hard working guys!

Had a couple trees removed and they were on time and even helped me move some potted plants before they started. Work was fast and seemed to be done well. The 2 complaints I have are — the scratches and gashes left all over my front steps, driveway and sidewalk from the machines. They are everywhere. Little to no care was taken when it came to moving them around. I never expected such a permanent mess to be left once they did, but these are here forever and they are everywhere. I was also informed by the workers that the boss would be back «later» for the check, but I had things to do and ended up playing phone tag to set something up 2 days later.
*side note. When they trim my neighbors trees they always come over and ask if they can clean up the mess on my side which is awesome!

I had a 30% off coupon, and their price was the lowest (of 3) but would have been the highest without the coupon. He said it would take them two hours and suggested 10 a.m. Saturday. I made it clear that wouldn’t do — I had to leave at 11:30. So he suggested 8:00. I made a clear point that we got up late, so I checked with my wife and was told she would rise early so as to answer them at 8. After that long conversation, the 8:00 appointment had to be very clear. Guess what! My wife got up early, and they showed up at 10:20! It turns out it was a good thing we had to turn them down. They were planning to ground the stumps only to 6″ below ground. How was I supposed to plant another tree there if the stump was that close the surface? To make matters worse, the lady insisted that the guy had talked to my wife, and she had told him to come at 10:00 — he never even met my wife!

Overall, Payless was excellent to work with. Payless was the first one out to quote and also had the most competitive price. Scheduling had a 2 week lead time, which worked for us.
The day the work was to begin there were about 6 crew members working the job. They were all very professional and easy to communicate with. They had all the necessary equipment; lift trucks, chipper and disposal truck, chain saws, etc. Although all of them should have been wearing safety glasses.
The job went much faster than expected and the crew was done one day early. I would definitely recommend them and use them again. Payless was also able to meet our request of providing us with the mulch afterwards and cutting sections of a tree to use as chairs later.

I was quoted by five companies for a tree removal and trimming project. The following was removed: 7 fan palms removed, one 3-​story tall pine, 3 pepper trees. Additionally I needed the following trimmed and laced: 1 Euc, 4 paperbarks, 1 pepper, and a few other smaller trees.

Allen and his team were awesome. They showed up early and finished early. They did exactly what I was estimated for and even swept and cleaned up the sidewalk afterwards. I was most impressed and the best part was they were extremely reasonable… the lowest quote I received. I would not hesitate to recommend them.

We have been using Payless for years and they are excellent!!! We have NEVER had a problem getting a quote, they always call back, and they are always on time. From tree trimming, removal, stump grinding, trimming… you name it, they do it and do it well! Allen is terrific and the crew is fantastic. They leave the yard looking great and come out with a full crew making short time of a big job. Also, the price is competitive. Five plus stars for them!!!

Been using Payless for 10 years. Always professional, on time, high quality and reasonably priced. They go the extra mile to make sure the job is done to my expectation. Allan has always been on-​time for appointments and there are never any surprises once the job is done.

Don’t waste your time. Made an appointment for a quote days in advance. They never called or showed. Gave them the benefit of the doubt (things happen), I called that evening and then the following Monday (left 2 messages). No response. Tried once more on the other number, no answer. Moving on… So much for the coupon!

Allan was very knowledgeable with our trees and his suggestions were very beneficial. We had 4 trees trimmed back. His crew showed up within agreed time frame and finished the job in reasonable time. They took great care of protecting the building and surrounding plants. They moved furniture and outdoor items wherever they could. Anything permanent, the used plywood to protect it from falling tree parts. I’ve used two other cheaper service, but you get what you pay for. Great service at a very reasonable price. I’ll definitely call them up again.

I phoned this company on a Monday afternoon to get a quote and make an apmt. The woman told me she would call me back in an hour. I never got a call back, so giving her the benefit of the doubt that perhaps she got my phone number incorrect, I phoned again Tuesday morning and left a message (no one answered) again requesting a quote and a call back. I stated this was my second call and perhaps she didn’t get my number correctly the day before. No call back by the end of the day. Obviously, they don’t want the business. I’m moving on.

I got a great estimate from Alan at Payless Tree Service and it was followed up in a timely manner. I had my whole front yard scraped. The guys were efficient and friendly and NEAT — everything was left as clean or cleaner than before they arrived. They were in and out in just a few hours AND they cut and stacked firewood for me in the back of the house. I am going to use them again without a doubt. very very pleased. oh, their insurance was in tact, too which you don’t always find — they cent me the certs via pdf and i called the verify with the insurance company. all in all, a great company and a great experience. A+

They recently took down an enormous tree around the corner from me and I heard the price was ridiculously cheap. I had two trees (one quite large) that I needed removed and called them for an estimate. I would have expected an estimate 2 – 3 times what they quoted (a written estimate).
The day they came to perform the work they were on time and worked extremely fast. They were thorough, ground down all the stumps and roots and even raked the entire yard afterwards.
I received quality work at a great price. I would highly recommend.

We had an excellent tree thinning from Allen at Payless Tree service. The price was very reasonable. My 2 star rating is for follow up service. We had an insurance inspection on our property after the initial trimming and the company requested the largest tree be trimmed back further from the roof. We have called and emailed Payless Tree Service a total of 5 times requesting an estimate and scheduling the additional service. We reached the secretary one time. Allen never returned our request and we are moving on to another tree service. We are so disappointed as we thought we had found a reliable tree service to manage the mature foliage on our San Diego home.

As good as they come. Best price and best service. Theye took down a 40 food oak in under a day and stumped it. wow. very impressed.
