Auto Kinect

My husband and I connected with Auto Kinect through a post on craigslist. We found them to be very friendly to work with and their prices were reasonable. We purchased a 2000 Diamond Edition Jimmy «as is». We put about $ 1600 in repairs right after we bought it, but that is to be expected on a used «as is» vehicle that old. No promises were made as to issues with it. While we would do business with them again, I knocked one star off for lack communication. I tried to call to check on status of tags and title a few times and they never returned my calls. The tags did finally arrive so all is good, but good follow up customer service needs work. We would do business with them again.

I was really hoping these guys would fix the issue before I had to take further steps but since I have not had a response to the email I sent July 18^th I now feel it’s time to take action.
These guys were great in the beginning but now my opinion has completely changed. When I bought my car I also got the extended warranty which I was glad I did because not too long after there were issues. I had asked them to send me copies of all the paper work I signed along with information on the warranty company so I could contact them to get my car fixed but to this day I still have not received any copies. I was willing to deal with everything but they insisted they help since they know the people at the warranty place. One day I was sent to Lake Way when I live in Leander to have my car looked at but once I got there I asked the guy if I could take it to their Cedar Park location since it was more convenient for me and he said yes. The place told me there was an issue with the power steering, a leak with the rack and pinion, the breaks needed to be changed, and the spark plugs were bad. They informed me that whoever previously worked on the car did a terrible job. Since it was warranty work I had to come back once it had gone through the warranty company so I contacted Auto Kinect to let them know what was going on. Apparently me going to another shop (even though it was the same company) was a big deal. Auto Kinect offered to put me in one of their vehicles for the day while they took my car in to have the warranty work done. I knew things like my breaks and spark plugs would not be covered but I expected the power steering and rack and pinion to get fixed. I got my car back and thought everything was taken care of but the noise was still there. We contacted them again and again asked them to send copies of all paper work along with paper work showing the repairs that had just been done but again nothing was sent except a link to the warranty company. When I got the car I was informed it was due for an oil change so the day I took it in for that I had my mechanic look it over. They informed me that the struts are bad and the rack and pinion is leaking. The rack and pinion that should have been fixed when I handed my car over to them to have the warranty work done. With all of the back and forth along with driving to and from Leander to Lake way I had exceeded the amount of miles the warranty would cover so it was too late.
When I originally picked the car up we were told that they had done a little maintenance on it like changing the spark plugs but that was far from true because two shops told me that they were bad and when we replaced them they looked terrible. We also replaced the air filter which looked like it hadn’t ever been changed. Another thing we had to replace was the oxygen sensor which I found pretty suspect because at one point my check engine light came on and when Auto Kinect read it they told me it was reading as an oxygen sensor and told me it was due to the Lucas fuel treatment I had put in. The light would go off and on until one day it finally just stayed. Buying a used car I expect to have to put a little into it but not as much as I am having to. Especially something that should have been taken care of with the other warranty work. All I want is for them to take care of what they should have taken care of in the beginning.
At this point the only positive things I can say are I love my car still and I appreciate that they did pay for front break pads so that my significant other could replace them.

I really hate buying cars as I feel like I’m always getting screwed. But working with Esteban was easy and we got the deal done in just one day.
