This is my favorite place to donate stuff, especially now that Goodwill isn’t fulfilling its mission statement. It must be a great place to shop, too — nothing is picked over, and the upside of «not too organized» is «Hey, I can probably find some treasure here!» The guy at the counter was friendly and easygoing when I dropped off a bunch of stuff(Just put it over here, can I give you a hand with that? Here’s your tax receipt) which I like. Donating stuff should always be this easy! I stuck around for a few minutes, hoping to catch a glimpse of Ceiling Cat, and resisted the urge to shop. Mr. V would totally kill me for bringing home more stuff! Speaking of stuff, whoever shops here will do pretty well on my donations alone. I dropped off a whole 4Runner full of high-end womens’ clothing size 2 – 4, mens’ Harley-Davidson jackets and clothing sized … XL? Big enough for 6’3″ and broad shoulders. Also, lots of brand-new cat accessories, such as an eighty-dollar red ceramic«cat fountain» that is gorgeous, but my weird cat was scared of it. Go figure. I’ll post an update and a few photos when I go here again, which hopefully will be today or Tuesday. I’m cleaning out all our old stuff prior to the big«bedroom painting project» and the«basement insulating project» and there’s another pile almost big enough to fill up my 4Runner again. This batch of donations will include: Mr. V’s shoes and boots he bought but never wears(size 10) and more high-end womens clothes size 2 – 4, from when I lived in LA and was super-skinny and stylish. :-(Plus: The contents of several Rubbermaid bins labeled«stuff to sell.» Motley stuff like: A nice leather duty belt with holster for a Sig, brand-new stuffed catnip toys including a few Kong Chili Peppers, Carrots, and Beavers(I think the Rat and the Platypus are in there, too) Swarovski crystals and metal studs left over from my «jacket project», and stuff from Ace Hardware and Home D’Peau we bought and never got around to returning. Anyway, this is a great place to donate stuff, and probably a great place to shop, unless you require your thrift stores to be perfectly organized. Everything goes to support the cats at the Angels With Paws no-kill shelter, not to million-dollar CEO salaries like Goodwill does.
