I went here with my kids. The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is because if you pay with card, she kinda holds your card hostage than ask ‘how much you wanna leave for a tip”? she types it in for you — — — Before you even get your food. I feel as if my food taste would depend on how much I leave as a tip… I am not cool with that. Shit, I am scared to say No tip ! Chick is holding my card looking at me like” No, bitch ya gonna tip My ass” Other than that the Dragon roll and Lobster roll were to Die for… It was really good. They have old 60’s beach music playing while the TV in Back shows a Movie. So Yea, Best of both worlds. Nothing like listening to the Beach boys as I watch jet lee beat someones ass. it’s Nice Mom and Pop place, If you spend more than a certain amount you can spin the wheel for something free. I like the food and they seem really pleasant and friendly… BTW just leave your tray on the Table there are no trash cans. Just an FYI enjoy

Some of these peoples complaints are just plain DUMB.
This is clearly a mom/​pop shop. Just because its lime green or no restrooms doesnt count against their food.
I have only been here once. Got the red bull roll (cali roll with tuna on top with eel sauce) — and i liked it. The prices are fair and you see them rolling it right there.
I will be back to try the other rolls!
Also GREAT customer service, fast and polite. I say thats a win.

I absolutely love this place! I’d eat here every day if I could. You can’t go wrong with Teri and her crew will take good care of you. With out fail you will leave feeling fat and happy!!! Bring the whole family. Love the movies they play while we eat.

I love the Chicken Teriyaki Tempura, Miso soup is a must when you order sushi!!! Thanks for being so close too home and being open late.

No public restrooms. thats just nasty. i planned on eating here because i wanted sushi. customers like to clean up before they eat. i gave 2 stars because sushi is Aok but it will be last time for me to visit this sushi spot. its a shame because its a great location and plenty of parking. there are too many other sushi spots that let me take a piss and wash my hands before i eat. sorry wasabi

The staff is, as always, very friendly and courteous and the food has *definitely* improved. Super stoked! Return customer happy to be back!

Wow, that’s one bright lime green menu board. Over 100 items to choose from. Their lime, pink and blue colors make me feel like I’m in the 80s.
Plenty of seating. They have a wheel you can spin to win 10% coupon or miso or can soda or nothing at all. Their menu board has plenty of pictures if you’re not a reader. It’s really bright inside and was really clean. The owner seems OK; but was a little harsh with one of her employees she was training.
I got their #59 Alaskan roll. And it was fine. I’ll try them again before I make my final decision on how I truly feel about them.

My favorite sushi place, ive been coming here regularly for a few years now. Sushi is good, doesnt take long, and they have ice cream mochi!

I love this place! The food is delicious, seri is good and the store is always clean. Go for the orange chicken bowl, the rainbow roll and spam musibi! To die for! You can call in and order ahead of time to. Wonderful. I’ll see you at wasabi!

This place is by far one of my favorite places to come and eat. My boyfriend and I travel 25 minutes just to have the chicken teriyaki rolls and they are absolutely delicious. Thank you to all the staff here who have treated us so nicely and always so welcoming. I would recommend this place to everyone.

I came here with a friend this last week, after he told me about how good it was. They greeted us and were so happy to see my friend return. The service is speedy and we received our drinks very quickly. The menu’s are well put together too. We enjoyed watching Kung Fu Panda while we waited for our food. I ordered the rainbow roll and a dragon roll, both were Excellent! honestly. I’ve lived in Asia for 3 years (Korea for 1 and Taiwan for 2), and believe me, their sushi is very good quality. Everything inside is super clean and they are actually friendly :) I know I will definitely go back to try some different rolls, and to watch a fun movie.

My boyfriend and I come to Wasabi anytime we have a sushi craving because it’s the best around! I always order the crunch roll, and he always gets the California roll with fried rice. I can always count on the food being excellent. Just today we decided to try something new — the Orange Yakisoba. It was best orange chicken with noodles I have ever had. My boyfriend has been going here with his family since the first month it opened, and by the third time they knew him and his whole family by name. I definitely recommend eating here because of the excellent food and wonderful employees.

I came here with my mom to eat and while I ordered the Caterpillar Rolls she ordered the Tiger Rolls. It was so good and prepared well! This has probably been the best sushi I have been to, so far. And I have been to MANY ever since I discovered I love sushi.
The worker that helped was so nice and I want to dedicate one star to him!
By the way, when you order they have you spin the wheel where you have the possibility of winning a Miso Soup, 1 can of Coke or nothing. I won a Miso Soup and it was DELICIOUS! I wish the bowl would have had more. Haha.

Now u must spend $ 10 to spin the wheel here. Not that it matters to me, but had to provide the update on that matter because the owner «rudely» told me I had to spend $ 10 now to spin the wheel… instead of just nicely saying it. Their tone was very rude.
I’ve eaten here a couple of times since my last review last year.
The Asian lady (owner) that is always behind the counter is very rude. I can see how she treats her workers while I’m eating here. Just horrible. I don’t understand how she can berate them or treat them like that.
There’s either new workers every month or different faces I see when I eat here. Might have something to do how the Asian lady treats them. Not that it’s any of my business, but just don’t belittle the workers in front of customers… not a good image to see.
You can tell she is not a nice person or she is just stresses out all the time. Not sure if she enjoys micromanaging every worker here with a power trip. Like a tyrant.
She was even rude when I asked another question… just unacceptable.
By the way, there’s «no restrooms» here for the public to use. Can’t wash my hands or take a piss. That’s very strange.
The shrimps I’ve noticed has been over cooked a few times I’ve been here… not good.
Anyhow, this is my last time coming here.
I don’t need the lunch time attitude when I’m eating here. I will take my business elsewhere.

Food is decent, but the manager is not that great, she could be really rude and have seen her mistreat her staff, no wonder I always see new employees every couple of months. Wont be going here again.

I guess We should of walked away when We walked in and noticed that we were the only ones there, aside from a guy getting take-​outs. I ordered #16 bbq beef ribs (galbi) plate and leave it to my husband to order the orange chicken with shrimp plate at a so called Japanese Grill. My husband was awarded a free miso soup with his free spin on the wheel. Our total with a small drink was a little over $ 21. We waited a good 10 minutes or so for our food to be prepared. When the food came… My husband’s orange chicken and shrimps looked impressive, however my bbq beef ribs were cut up into tiny pieces, not what I was expecting because the picture of the plate… showed the beef ribs boned in and it looked too well done, kinda burnt.
Taste test… My meat was tough and rubbery… Only able to eat maybe half of it… The rest were burnt. My husband’s orange chicken was mediocre. Edible, however the tiny shrimps that came with that combo were so overcooked and rubbery… We threw it away.
Service = good service 4 stars
Atmosphere = 3 stars
Girl mopping floor with index… Smelled awful.
Price = 3 stars under $ 10
Taste = 2 stars
If the food isn’t edible… Nothing else matters. I won’t be going back at all.

Whenever my boyfriend and I crave some bowl of whatever kind of meat we are in the mood for or just sushi, we come here. The prices for their bowls are pretty cheap and incredibly filling and I’ve tried them all. Best one is the orange chicken bowl and they don’t skimp out on meat too. The plates are a tad bit more expensive but they give you the option to have either miso soup or salad with it (only happens when you order an entrée, people) and you can mix up the meat you want. Their curry is delicious and for $ 7.50 and the amount you get is well worth it because I was so satisfyingly full. I haven’t gotten around to trying all their sushi yet but it tastes fresh and not dry like at other places (looking at you Oki Japan) and all the sushi I have tried being California Roll, Spicy Tuna, Avocado, and Dynamite Roll were not at all dry and tasted really good.
I haven’t had any problems with customer service and the girl who’s the cashier is really nice.
I’ve eaten at a lot of Japanese restaurants in Lakewood and so far this one and the one near the 99 cents store are the best. Added bonus is that its usually quiet and clean, you can watch movies on the nice TVs, browse the Internet, and even play with the PSPs (if you have sticky, dirty hands for the love of god go wash your hands before you touch it, nasty).

The chicken was also cold! Don’t waste your money. This was my first and last visit to this crappy restaurant.

Wasabi Japanese Grill is more or less the same quality of food you would get from any chain type Japanese Grill in the mall, But Wasabi Japanese Grill has a lot more character.
It’s like the owners thought «How can we get more people to get here?, I know lets have stuff for people to do.» In addition to having a TV, there is wifi as well as a publicly available desktop computer, laptop computer, and a PSP. The laptop and PSP are chained to the table so you can’t steal it. You have to use it at the table it is strapped too. Also, there is a wheel that you can spin that comes with prizes, but I am not sure how that works.
Food wise, they have the standard Japanese Fair such as Teriyaki, sushi, and soba. Everything on menu is under $ 10, and the food is fine. The food is fast and filling. Come here on a lunch break when you need to check the score to a game, but you ran out of data on your phone and can’t check it at work.

Lunch time & Wasabi Japanese Grill seemed a good local spot to hit up. Wasabi offers teriyaki bowls, tempuro, udon, yakisoba and other items, but my foodie Geiger counter blipped solely for a sushi roll.
Red Bull roll (California roll with spicy tuna & eel sauce)
Ask me why this is named Red Bull roll, and I’ll say «I dunno». The thought did cross my mind if Red Bull was used as an ingredient. I’d imagine all the college kids would go bonkers for this. Oh wait, I just thought of something even better! Alcohol-​infused sushi rolls. Yup, that would be the next big thing. Think White Russian Roll, Irish Car Bomb roll. Anyhoo, the Red Bull roll was a typical roll. The eel sauce had a sweetness to it, which didn’t overpower the spicy tuna that much. Unfortunately, salad or miso soup is an extra dollar. I’m used to places like Yasai throwing those in for free. Still, not bad.
Spend $ 7+, get a spin on the Wheel o’ Wasabi!

Fair amount of seating to dine in, the service was helpful with a minor wait for my food. Parking is in a private lot, anchored by Albertson’s.
Wasabi Japanese Grill is a decent lunch spot, across the street from Lakewood Mall. Not a destination place, for sure, but a good option if you’re in the area & are trying to avoid the Taco Smell’s & Jack in the Crack’s of the world.
