The little restaraunt is no little thing! Being Indian, I don’t usually eat out Indian… but the Himalayan Curry and Grill is the exception! They have thee most flavorful, fresh food. I would definitely eat here any day! Amazing hospitality, you guys need to expand!

This restaurant turned me into liking Indian food. It’s small inside, so making reservations is a smart idea. It is also BYOB which is always nice. My friend and I started with an order of the Momo-Chicken which are steamed dumplings and they were delicious! The sauce they came with for dipping was very good. We then got Chicken Tikka Masala and an order of the garlic naan bread. The Chicken Tikka Masala was one of the best I’ve had. The sauce is rich in flavor with nice chunks of chicken. They have a Monday night dinner buffet that I’ve been wanting to try. All in all, delicious Indian food in downtown Lancaster.

Been here twice, once for the buffet and again on New Year’s Eve. Friendly service and great food. I plan on becoming a regular.

Great place for Indian-style fare and unique Nepalese. Small place, but they do take reservations. Authentic atmosphere and friendly servers. A+ on service and general experience. Food was quite tasty, and I will definitely be returning, but I reserve 5 Star status for truly blow-your-mind food. The cauliflower appetizer and potato cake appetizers definitely fell in that category. Our table also shared chicken samosas, shrimp pakoras, salmon moolie, chicken tikka masala, khasi ko masu with gravy(a goat dish), chicken passanda, chicken korma, dal palak, tandoori vegetables, chicken momo. These were all very tasty but I have had versions that were a tad bit better … but not by much. Highly recommend if you’re looking for an exotic change in Lancaster.

Great restaurant. Extremely reasonable prices for such high quality food. BYO. Call ahead for reservations. Favorites were the chicken momo and the chicken — cilantro Nepalese dish and the paneer with almond and coconut.

I went here for the first time today and absolutely loved it! We arrived around noon on a week day, but did not opt for the lunch buffet, which only consisted of Indian food. Being DC-area residents, we have been spoiled by Indian lunch buffets, so we came to Himalayan Curry & Grill specifically for the Nepalese cuisine. We both ordered the chicken momo as an appetizer. My husband’s Nepalese colleague said that momo was his favorite and recommended dish from Nepal. And he was right! The momo came with a curry-like dipping sauce, and it was absolutely delicious! Next, I got Khukura ko masu(essentially curried chicken) with gravy and my husband got Kadi Badi ko Jhol(fried lentil balls). Both were very good. My curried chicken was very similar to Indian curry dishes, while the fried lentils were different. They were sour(in a good way) and infused with herbs. The dishes came with buttery and herby basmatic rice, with some red & orange rice on top. The rice was very flavorful — we even found an incredibly fragrant herb pod in the rice. We also got the Keema Naan, which was stuffed with fresh ground lamb and herbs, with some butter on top. It was also very delicious. The service was great and the décor was beautiful! The restaurant itself is pretty small, so reservations, especially around peak times, are best. We came at lunchtime on a weekday right around New Year’s, and the restaurant was packed. In fact, when we left, the line went out the door! Parking can be a bit tricky, as it is downtown Lancaster, but there are metered spots all along nearby streets, as well as a small lot with metered spaces off of Duke St. As someone who grew up in Lancaster, I’m so glad that there are finally ethnic restaurants here now!

A nice mix of Indian and Himalayan dishes, with plenty of vegetarian options. The tandoori vegetables were delicious.

I loved this place. I had the goat vindaloo, peshawar Naan and house salad. Very few places serve goat, and even fewer places do a good job. This place is charming, small, and busy! !

It’s a little small and cramped, but the food at Himalayan is delicious. Beware during the lunch hours, but if you can get seats, they staff is friendly and personable, and will replenish the admittedly small buffet line serving dishes. I even struck up a conversation with one of the staff about their vegetable pakoras, which are phenomenal. Other highlights of the meal include the naan, the chickpea masala, and the incredibly juicy chicken tandoori(one of my favorite renditions of the famous dish). Two interesting notes to top off the review: 1) they use crystal glasses, so you can amuse your dinner guests with your glass rim playing skills 2) chicken tikka masala will never let you down. It is your friend, and Himalaya’s CTM is the best of all friends

There’s very few establishments in recent memory that have satisfied my desires to the degree as this gem. First off, it is reservation only so you are never overwhelmed by any sort of parasites that pose as humans. Also the beautiful waitresses recite the entire order back to the party just ensure the language barrier doesn’t negatively impact the finished product. For the routine alcohol consumers, I am please to inform you that it is BYOB so you can bring along whatever particular poison you hold your allegiance to. On a side note, do not make any attempts to seduce the employees for this could result in your prosecution of harrassment under Pennsylvania law: section 2709-title 18. A fellow friend of mine found himself under this same unfortunate situation at an Applebee’s in the spring of 2003. They are currently struggling to settle court fees to this day. In result, said friend has developed a crippling bath salts addiction. Just 2 weeks ago they stole my entire vintage yo-yo collection only to pawn it and continue to fuel their habit. Our government engineered the Ebola virus. Recent update: he is now seeking rehabilitation and has an astonishing unrealistic view of how taxes work. In conclusion, I can’t embrace this restaurant enough. My only regret is that they haven’t multiplied yet. I give it a solid 5⁄5 for both flavor and execution. 2⁄5 for not allowing customers to perform cult rituals with the surplus of goats they keep in house. Give this place a go and you won’t be displeased by any sort. The media controls our thoughts and the illuminati is real. Namaste.

I can only attest to the quality of the lunch buffet. It was mediocre, with very stale rice and rather bland sauces and naan. Even the mango lassi I ordered was not as good as many others I’ve had. I was underwhelmed. I give 3 stars instead of 2 because 1-I realize I’m comparing them to my experience of Indian food from much more populated, urban areas and 2-the people that accompanied me found some of the dishes on the buffet redeeming. I’d recommend trying their dinner menu, no buffet – perhaps when freshly prepared their food is much better.

First time back since March and I am not sure why I waited so long since I have been a resident of Lancaster now for several months. I’ve been missing out. This place is by far one of the best restaurants in Lancaster. Tonight we had the chicken tikka masala which was excellent, and the mixed vegetable curry, one of the lentil dishes, and garlic naan. All very good. Water tasted better especially with a lemon slice. Place was jam packed and the wait was long but some magic was worked and we had the pleasure of a great dining experience. Won’t wait as long to return next time. Already thinking of raiding the fridge for the leftovers even though I got home from dinner an hour ago.

I’m from NY and we have one of the largest southeast Asian communities in America. We also have some of the best Indian/Pakistani restaurants on the east coast and the majority of Unilocalers can vouch for that statement. Pennsylvania just hasn’t caught up to the quality and authenticity of their neighbors. With that said, I came here to eat Nepalese/Himalayan food. Not knock off Indian food. I’m not sure if this restaurants’ patrons understand that they’re advertising one thing and serving another. And whatever it is they’re serving isn’t really IT. Im going to cut it short and stop pretending to be a food critic. The buffet was like 10 bucks and the food was lukewarm and bland and that just might be what you’re looking for or the norm in Lancaster but I’ll try something else next time I’m in town.

Very good food, but very poor on the service aspect. Saturday night dinner. It’s busy. I was the last of the party of seven. No water, I did order some tea. So I wasn’t too thirsty. No follow up with whether I wanted more tea either. Food came out fairly quickly and tasted excellent. That’s the only saving grace for this place. Minus two stars for wait staff seeing multiple times that everyone in our party had plates except for me. I had to use the saucer from my tea. So if you’re good with being thirsty the entire meal and eating off a tiny plate, this is the place for you. Indian places are kind of a dime a dozen. Maybe some training for the wait staff and the manager are in order.

Curry in Lancaster? Who woulda thunk it? I just love the samosas. Crispy and fresh spices with great dipping sauces(mint and tamarind). I could lick the sauces right out of those tiny dipping dishes but I thought that people might stare. Nom Nom Nom. The paneer in my dish was super fresh. Gorgeous paneer with spinach. The meat eater at the table said the chicken tikka was a singular delight, excellent balance of spice and sweetness. You just can’t make that stuff up. Naan was crispy and warm and I ate way too much of it. Go eat here. Make a reservation. Excellent value.

It is a quaint place, well decorated, nice ambiance. Nice music. Smiling faces. Good service. You can eat from a weekday dinner buffet. Or, order from the menu. I had the buffet. Make reservations. Without a doubt, you need a reservation. The food is ok. Just ok. Kind of bland. Speaking to a regular, she loves it. Maybe it is simply a matter of alternatives. Maybe it’s good for Lancaster. A four star Lancaster restaurant, but a two star at best, comparing on a wider view. Very beautiful smiling ladies, except one.

Had the all you can eat night for the Himalayan food here. It was my first time trying out food from this region — I’ve done Tibetan food. The curry was delicious and it felt like I was eating like a chinese ish and Indian fusion of food. I’ll definitely have to come back for the regular dishes. Also make sure to get that mango lassi of course — this also tasted different! It was way more milky tasting thank the heavy mango I was used to. Customer service wise — there didn’t feel like a need for urgency which bothered me — only hiccup

We lived in NYC for several years enjoying all ethnic foods and restaurants. One of our favorites was an Indian restaurant Ajanta. Our new friends in Lancaster introduced us to the Himalayan Grill last night. Wow so awesome! The food was steaming hot and delicious. Service was attentive and super friendly. The owners were also taking orders and talking to customers. We brought our own bottle of wine which they opened for us and served it in wine glasses. Really terrific can’t wait to go back! The restaurant was packed and a little tight but we didn’t care that’s how good it is!

Great food, all around! Only bummer part(reason for 4 vs 5 stars) is that we made reservations for 8:45 and didn’t get a table until 9:10PM. :( Still, highly recommend!
