History

Established in 2015.

Opened on February 21 of 2015. Opened on February 21 of 2015. Original founder Jason Zimmerman first conceived of this idea after reading a book about the friendship between JRR Tolkien, and CS Lewis. These two influential authors were best friends and formed a writers group called the Inklings.

These authors would meet in an English pub in Oxford called the eagle and child and it was in this club that they would read their works allowed and critique them in this group of about 20 authors would meet regularly from 1939 to 1962 in this place. They nicknamed the room in which they met the rabbit room.

It was Jason’s idea to create a place that was an homage to these authors and that serve to make a meeting place for similar creative camaraderie to take place amongst Lancaster artists, writers, and musicians of all types.
