Paradocx Vineyard is owned and operated by the Hoffman and Harris Families. The name of the winery is a play on words, as the four principles are practicing physicians (Pair of Docs). In addition to a full-​time staff, members of both families and committed friends tend to make the winery a successful venture.

With over 100 acres of land, 30 of which are under vine, Paradocx’s home vineyard in Landenberg, Pennsylvania offers an array of grapes for head winemaker Dave Hoffman to choose from, including 27 acres of vinifera vines and 3 acres of Chambourcin and Vidal vines. By providing only the finest grapes that our site has to offer, we are able to afford our winemaker with the best possible start for a quality wine in the bottle.

Awesome winery, one of the best in the tri-​state. Wines are really good, and tasting was more of a flight, featuring larger pours. The staff was down to earth and knowledgeable. We really enjoyed the paint bucket of wine ($ 40). It holds around 4 bottles. We will be back.
(Only negative is the drive in/​out. Very windy treacherous roadways in the area)

This was my first time at Paradocx after having visited a few other wineries nearby. My friend and I wanted to try this place out, so we stopped by this afternoon (it was totally empty). When we walked in, we were greeted by one of the servers who explained the flight options and that they were serving a wine and truffle pairing ($ 12). The flight was pre-​chosen, which might be a turn-​off for some, but I wanted to try a variety so the flight was fine for me. You can choose your own 4 wine flight also for $ 12 (the pre-​chosen flight without the truffles was $ 10). After finishing the pairing I wanted to try another dry red, so I asked for any recommendations; our server brought over a few options for me to try until I picked one I liked to get a glass of. Glasses ranged in price from $ 6-​$ 10. Everyone working here was great about letting us try samples of each of their wines; they were pleasant and very helpful. The outdoor area is vast and looks like a great time during the warmer months. Today was pretty chilly, but my friend and I sat outside by a fire pit and enjoyed the decent late-​February weather. We both can’t wait to come back for one of their concerts or other events during the spring/​summer. Overall great experience.

Came here after seeing their website on the Brandywine Trail. I was excited about the place because it seemed to not be pretentious as they sold wine in 1.5 L bags, and 3 L «paint cans.»
When we first arrived, I was slightly turned off by the fact that they pre-​choose what tastings you can do. They had 4 tastings — red, white, semi-​sweet, and «signature.» The signature were 4 wines paired with truffles for Valentines Day. You could also choose your own tasting, but for $ 2 more. I found this to be a turnoff because if you want me to try your wines, let me taste my preferences and don’t charge me more for it, like pretty much every other winery.
The wine was decent. What I really liked was that each tasting glass came with a little card explaining the flavors/​notes of the wine, and what food it might pair well with. We ended up purchasing a couple reds, but not sure if I will go back because they do sell their wines at a retail store in Old City Philadelphia.

This review is strictly for parents hoping to come here with kids to enjoy a glass of wine and watch their kids goof around on the pedal cars and in the corn maze.
Two years ago, the experience was very sweet and very mellow. There was a nice local farmer, no longer especially young, and some pleasant local ladies running the show with the pedal cars and corn maze. I seem to recall a flat fee for the kiddie activities. Kids could play and parents relax.
This year, you have to buy a batch of tickets and pay as you go with the kid stuff. This keeps parents VERY busy tagging along from activity to activity to dole out tickets and adds up to some serious cash.
Worse: the nice, older, local folks have been replaced by less nice, younger, local folks, some of whom are harmless enough, but at least one of whom was a surly a**hole who gratuitously insulted my kid. Not cool.
Good while it lasted but no longer recommended for parents with young kids.

We are not from the area and had a few hours to waste before an event with no place to go. Found Paradocx on Unilocal and thought we’d give it a try! A bit crowded for our taste for winery tasting due to a private event being held there that day but we stayed anyway.
Wasn’t prepared to have to buy a flight rather than experience a traditional tasting but it worked out okay. We chose a flight of reds and sat inside and sipped the wine, observed the party outside and relaxed.
The wines were fine — nothing to write home about. The overall atmosphere and experience was fun and filled the open time slot in our day.

I’ve seen them at several festivals but I’m always working so I’ve never been able to try their wines. Finally, a day off and doing some wine tasting. Checked their website, open until 6pm. Got there at 4:45pm, and waited at the bar next to a larger group to reach the tasting bar. The bartenders, who saw us walk in, seemed to not care about us waiting and tried not to make eye contact. Finally acknowledged after another 10 minutes by the pourer only to be told that they stop tasting at 5pm! We mentioned that we had been waiting at the bar since 4:45 to do a tasting, but they didn’t care and were firm on stopping tastings at 5pm regardless. We were offered to buy a glass of wine or bottle but considering we’ve never had their wines, why on earth would I buy them? We ended up leaving without trying anything. Overall, a very poor customer service experience. And unfortunately, (or maybe fortunately) I can’t comment on the wine!

We learned about Paradocx Vineyard’s summer concert series towards the end of August, and decided to join our friends there. The admission was $ 10, and we each received a ticket for a free glass of wine (choosing from Whitewash, Barn Red or Pail Pink (a rose).) The atmosphere was so incredible– live music, people sitting in lawn chairs with picnics and wine, a painting class, food trucks, and shrimp with oysters on the half shelf!
We opted to purchase a bucket of wine to split, and the cost of $ 40 didn’t seem that bad to me when you figure there are 4.5 bottles of wine within a pail. This vineyard also offers wine/​paint nights at various times throughout the year. After visiting Napa Valley, I wouldn’t say this is a high-​end, wine snob place. Those expecting such will be disappointed. However, for a fun, family friendly night, or a relaxed night out, this winery is perfect! The concerts run throughout the summer until October, and last from 5pm — 9pm.
My one complaint is that the food truck present only had cheeseburgers and hot dog-​like food available. There were not a lot of options for food, but you are permitted to bring your own. No outside alcohol, or pets either.

Decided to try Paradocx as a weekend afternoon date. We are by no means wine conisseurs, so this review focuses on the experience. There is indoor seating in the tasting room and outdoor seating on the patio overlooking the fields. Paradocx offers wine flights (4 wines) that come in a selection of all reds or all whites or a mix, whatever suits your tastes. Their best seller is a tea infused sweet called «T wine.» The flights range in price from $ 8 to $ 13. We had a great time at a reasonable cost. Definitely will be back.

I thought this was one of the best wineries on the trail. Went here with a group of friends last year. We sat outside for our tasting and luckily we were the only ones there. The person that gave the tasting was very nice and funny. I loved the wines so much! The iced tea wine was very interesting. They also have wines you can buy in a paint can. It’s in a more rural part, so lots of trees and rolling hills. It’s also owned by a group of doctors, hence the name. I would totally recommend this winery to anyone. Make sure to go when the weather is nice so you can sit outside!

These people were cold and inhospitable bordering on rude. We went there for a festival that was supposed to be going on Saturdays and Sundays until October 28, 2012. We arrived, after driving 1 ½ hours to find no festival. There was no apology and no explanation. I had even contacted them in advance and was told that the festival was rain or shine. The only reason they get even one star is that their wine is very good, especially their T-​wine. Very bad experience and we will never go back.

Stopped here on the Brandywine Valley Wine Trail tour right down the road from Kreutz Creek Vineyard, and although I didn’t enjoy it overall as much as the other places, they had the best wine out of all the ones I tried which was the black tea infused T-​wine. One star for that. I’m not a wine drinker by any means, but that stuff is like liquid crack. Just by chance, the measuring spout broke when I got my sample, so I got like a triple shot of it. The girl was like, «Why is this not stopping?» LOL
They have a large outdoor space with games for kids, but it was disappointing that we only got 6 samples. Worth a stop though.

Nice and laid back when not an event happening. they do a take on an italian red that is nice and rich and bold. Other than that they do what most do in the area. Chardonnay in steel and then in oak. A table white and red and a Cab. $ 7 tasting is a good value.
If you are going in with the thought to have a fantastic day with an absolute perfect companion for the day, taste some local wines, have some fun then you will not be disappointed. If you think your are touring the Loire Valley or Napa then get off the high horse, climb into the family truckster and relax. Wine can be good, common and just plain fun.

This is a winery that I need to return to. My first visit was extremely crowded and hectic. There was some sort of party, BBQ, festival thing going on that took away from the experience. I get claustrophobic easily and there was just too many people and I needed to rush through my tastings. Let me be clear, the staff didn’t rush me through the tastings, I just felt I needed to rush to get out of the crowd. I’m hoping my return trip will be less crowded. That being said, the wines I tried were all good. The large «bottles» are actually paint cans with spigots on them for pouring. They were a little pr icy for the quality, but again, I need to return for a better experience.

We had the pleasure of visiting this Vineyard (6÷20÷2009) and we were accorded a terrific time! The wine selection was excellent… a number of varieties were offered for tasting. Our group varied in opinion with regard to the wine. It was obvious we all had different tastes in wine and that is half the fun. And, fun we had! The Vineyard staff was pleasant and accommodating. Our particular «host» seemed knowledgeable and affable. By the way, the live music was outstanding and I must commend the group (The Cole Younger Band?) for their grit, determination and enthusiasm… playing through a driving rainstorm… I wish we lived closer… I will have to get future Paradocx wines through mail order… The ‘wine in a paint can’ concept is a great idea! very creative. Also, the creative marketing includes wine splits that can be personalized. They illustrated «wedding photo» wines that make great keepsakes for impending nuptials. All in all, our visit was terrific. In the future, it would be nice to visit more of the area vineyards.

Paradocx is the poster child for the average winery in SE PA. Much like its bretheren (Chaddsford, Penns Woods, Kreutz Creek) it produces below average wines for prices that are far above their worth, in my opinion.
For $ 7 you get to try 5 wines. We had the pinot grigio, charddonay, merlot reserve, sangiovese, and the leverage. The only one in the bunch that was drinkable was the chardonnay (with the pinot being almost there). The reds were all very thin, tasteless, and had a distinct barnyard finish that, while on many Bordeaux and Burgundy wines is fine as a minor flavor characteristic, here is was the only true flavor note. The two whites were passable but overpriced at nearly $ 20/​bottle.
The pourer knew next to nothing about the wines’ production and that really took away from the experience. We also felt pressured to buy (which we did not).
It’s worth a stop in if you’re doing the tour but, I think, it is overshadowed by Chaddsford for low rent red and passable white wines.

This winery is just a few miles away from Kreutz Creek, and very picturesque. The tasting room is much more… refined, I guess, but all in all we had a better experience at Kreutz Creek. For the same tasting fee, we tried 13 wines there compared to only 5 here. They had 12 – 13 wines on the list, but we could only pick 5. I found that surprising, considering the fee. Plus, isn’t the whole point of wine tasting that the patron might end up BUYING all the wine they like? We bought fewer bottles here than at either of the other wineries we visited, and I don’t think that’s a coincidence.
That said, we didn’t like the wines here quite as much, either. But we did like them enough to buy a few bottles — the viognier was my favorite, as well as the Old Stone Vineyard Chardonnay — SOOOO wonderfully buttery!
It’s also worth noting that — contrary to Kreutz Creek, where you’re allowed to keep your glass — not only do you have to buy them here if you want a souvenir, they’re $ 14! That’s the cost of an entire bottle of wine, might I point out, but if you must have a glass (as our friends did) then… you must have a glass.
But, out of all the wineries we visited, this place had the best wine names and labels. Seriously!
