My 15 year old Lift Master garage door opener failed due to the drive gear being chewed up. I checked the model, contacted the manufacturer who told me the repair kit to order which cost about $ 40. Since I am somewhat disabled, I contacted All Door Solutions, told them what the problem was, and they dispatched a a technician who told me the«fix» was to replace the entire unit at a price of about $ 550. He said his company does not repair older openers because«they could not guarantee that the unit would work.» I told the technician that I wasn’t interested in a guarantee, I just wanted to get some more service out of the existing unit and that the manufacturer sold a kit for exactly this type of repair. I expected to pay a premium for labor to repair the unit and for the parts, but it would be a lot cheaper than a new unit. The technician was only interested in selling me a new unit. I paid him the $ 40 service fee and told him that I was very unhappy with his company’s service. My bad for not initially asking if the company would repair the unit. Lesson learned. So it seems that I’ll have to repair the opener myself. There is a video on YouTube that shows how to make the repairs; it’s about a 20 – 30 minute job, but I may have to get help taking the broken unit down and putting it back up after the repairs. So, my review and low rating for All Door Solutions is based on their position that the only way to fix an older unit with a known problem and for which the manufacturer makes a parts kit is to replace the entire unit. They are not willing to repair a garage door opener to save the customer money.
